The USS Charleston, a Sovereign class starship, was commissioned on stardate 237009.23, and served with distinction during the Dominion War. She embarked several platoons of Marines during the war, among them was Hannibal Parker, then a newly minted Marine.

In February 2392, the Charleston was reported missing due to the mishap on Prometheus Station. She returned to her own time but was heavily damaged after the subspace rift had deposited them in Hirogen space. Under fire from the Hirogen, they returned to their time but lost 200 crew members. She is currently en route to Earth for refit.
