She caused great hurt to Bec and her brothers, something Bec is a long way away from considering to forgive. Bec hasn't directly talked to her since leaving for the Academy, and never plans to.

*Bec will often assign nicknames to people, doing so for almost everyone she interacts with regularly. These nicknames often form naturally and without much thought, sometimes revealing themselves in her speech before she can get the chance to think about them. Usually the nicknames Bec gives are just shortened versions of their names, and are influenced by her accent.

	Story and timeline

Rebecca, or Bec as she is known to most people (if not all) grew up on Earth in Campbelltown, a suburb of Sydney, Australia, as the youngest of 4 with three older human-hybrid stepbrothers. During her childhood, she often faced teasing and judgement - most of which came from her mother. it's a subject she keeps private.

To escape this, she often spent her time out of the house, and most of that time was spent at a now-abandoned train station. during her teenage years, she was also often accompanied by the Ex-Borg "Grace". They had a close relationship that unfortunately began its downfall in Bec's Academy days when she went one way and Grace went another. They haven't talked since.

If it wasn't the train station, Bec would usually be hanging out with her brothers, or staying behind after footy practice with her mates there who also didn't spend much time at home. One evening they joked around about just forgetting everything and running off into space. The idea was dismissed at the time, but planted a seed to where Bec would take herself throughout the rest of her schooling.

Bec applied for and was accepted into Starfleet Academy in 2393, however, she had to retake her first year due to a poor overall score. She originally attempted to be an all rounder, taking basic classes in engineering, security and Medical, not yet quite sure which direction she would head into. Once the end of year results were out she made the choice of majoring in security. Bec didn't have many friends at the academy, as she was mainly found studying or catching up on last-minute work, determined not to let her chance to "run away to starfleet" fly away in the wind. When she got to Amity she found everyone clearly already forming friendships and acquaintances but found it surprisingly easy to scoot into those groups and determine her small corner of mates. She never thinks too much about climbing the ranks.

Timeline

Rebecca, or Bec as she is currently known to most people, was born as the youngest of four on stardate 237508.23. She was a relatively healthy baby, as best as one might be able to get from a half-klingon hybrid, but she did not go home to a healthy environment.

Bec began Primary school on stardate 238002.03.

2383 was the first year that Bec joined her brothers sneaking out to the Sydney Marti-Gras. It quickly became an annual tradition until Bec left home.

Bec's oldest brother left for Starfleet Academy in 2384, going into the sciences. His departure left a significant emptiness in the family, who were suddenly left without a big brother to lean on.

In 238806, Bec met an almost lifelong friend, Grace, a relationship that eventually wavered in ‘92.

At the end of 2389, overloaded with stress from her first year of high school coming to a close, and with her mother beginning to become more violent at home, Bec took the opportunity to speak to the school counsellor, Miss Hartshorn, about her struggles. Bec insisted the conversation be kept confidential, but Hartshorn broke this trust and reached out to Bec’s mother to try and rectify the situation. This, however, ultimately made things worse, and destroyed Bec’s trust in counsellors.

While walking home from school in early 2390, Bec’s brother Brandon stated that he was going to finally report their mother for domestic violence, because he “had had enough of their mother’s crap”. The group of siblings all collectively stopped walking, and mused over the punishments that might (and later that night, did occur). Soon after Brandon revealed that he chickened out at the last minute, and though he came so close, did not actually say anything about their mother’s treatment of them to authorities.

Bec first caught her brother Brandon smoking snakeleaf in 2390, about a week after his attempt to report their mother. He was introduced to the drug by his boyfriend at the time, Stephen, and despite the disapproval of all his siblings, he continued to take the drug.

2390 was a wild ride—where for Bec, the effects of growing up and puberty were at it's peak. Frustrated by constantly having to get her fringe trimmed, thanks to what she would only recognise later as an effect of her Klingon biology (Jak’tahla link). The fast hair growth, the chaos with her brother and a fall into more anger than usual caused Bec to make the decision of a change of style. She gave herself a buzzcut, much to her mother's dismay, and grew out the style in the time that followed.

In May, 2391, Brandon left home—something he had been threatening to do for weeks prior, complaining that he “couldn’t live under their mother’s rule anymore” with deep paranoia in his voice, something that in hindsight, was likely because of the drug he was taking. Their mother was so devastated at the news of “losing her child” (who had already disappeared off-world) that she turned to the others with severe warnings should they ever try to permanently leave.

This warning delayed Bec from leaving in the same way until 239202, to couch-surf her way through her final two years of school at friends houses, eventually ending up in Melbourne (Though Bec still attended school in Sydney). Her mother continuously tried to make contact with Bec during this time, and while her mother’s threats were successful, Bec still refused to return home.

Bec left for Starfleet Academy in 2393, overjoyed to finally shed herself of Sydney and her mother’s control, at least for the school year. However, the academy proved much more difficult than Bec first thought it would be, keeping her on her toes, with the new cadet not achieving as well as she wished. She returned home for break at the end of the year, and reported how her efforts were only just keeping her floating above the tide. When her mum stated that Bec wasn’t “smart enough to graduate” and that she should just try “Officer Candidate School” Bec took it up as a challenge, and finished the next three years of the academy out of spite, slowly breaking off contact with her mother again.

In 239806, Bec graduated Starfleet Academy, eager to leave for the six week journey to Amity as soon as she could, arriving on the station on stardate 239810.13.

Notable Experiences on Amity

Miombo said no.

As an Ensign, Bec had gone with Scotty Reade and Wil Ukinix to take the then-new Miombo shuttle on a test flight. Bec took helm, and another, newer ensign had joined them. The adventure started well, with the shuttle crew joking around and replicating picnic chairs for the commander, but quickly escalated when an unknown probe sent out interference signals that affected the shuttles readouts of the icy body that all but Wil had beamed down to study. With the sudden onset of a subspace shockwave aproaching there was a frantic hurry to beam everyone up warp away. Thanks to the interference, the last minute scurry back to Amity left the Ensign behind, and that had an immediate and lasting impact on the remaining crew.

Double Trouble

After the chaos that was the House of Mirrors Mission, Wil Ukinix got caught in a transporter accident and split into two people. Bec, still recovering from the mission, lost control and snapped at him while they began a workout in the holodeck. The result was stern talking to, and a reminder to try and keep herself in check.

The Trenvonn Incident

During the Protocols Mission in 2399, Bec had returned to the Kitty Hawk momentarily and was about to return to the surface of Idrustix when the Trenvonn's net was deployed. After communication to the planet was finally re-established, Bec heard of the Trenvonn's drones her friends were forced to dodge, avoid and finally attack, and the apparent effects they had, sympathising with everyone's frustration. It eventually led the Junior-Grade Lieutenant to burst out in fury when they brought the Trenvonn aboard for final negotiations, and she narrowly avoided placing Amity and the Kitty Hawk a diplomatic crisis. After a stern talking to by Captain Rahman, Bec fully realised the effect of her insubordinate actions, and regrets the event to this day.

	Miscellanious

• Bec has a place in her heart for 20th-century trains, especially Old Campbelltown station. She would visit there frequently.

• Her favourite colour is red - or at least, that's the main colour she wears off duty.

• Been breaking boards since she was young, as a way of controlling her agression. her record for board breaking is two for a knife hand, three for a punch, and five for a kick.

• Enjoys slumber parties.

• Coffee of choice is probably a quad.

• Her favourite animal is a Wombat.

• Swears almost as much as Wil. Maybe more.

• She shaved most of her hair off when going through Jak'tahla once she was finally over having to get it cut so often. Once it grew back, she started cutting it herself in the same hairstyle she has today.
