While docked at Esperance, the USS Veritas, under the command of Lieutenant Commander Wil Ukinix, is called away to deal with an issue at “Walhalla Lock”.

Plot Summary

Stardate 239807.02: After the departure of Captain Rahman and several of her crew on the runabout USS Baikal on a separate, unrelated, mission, the USS Veritas, under the command of Lieutenant Commander Wil Ukinix, headed for “Walhalla Lock” - a part of the Mother Road that due to a heavy concentration of tetryon fields is just wide enough to allow one ship through at a time. There the Veritas discovered an unusually long queue of ship traffic waiting to get through at each end. Eventually the crew discovered that a freighter ship, the SS Langkawi, was stuck in the centre of the lock.

Moving in to find and assist the Langkawi, the USS Veritas became entangled in a short time loop that lasted several minutes each time. While the time reverted on each loop, the memories of those on the Veritas were not reset on each loop, but instead continued in a normal fashion.

By loop number 27, creating a distortion using the deflector shields, the Veritas (with help from one if its shuttles Prospero) was able to escape the repetitive time-loop and time began to flow normally thereafter. The Veritas crew were able to assist and tow the stricken ship to safety. Shortly thereafter, Walhalla lock returned to normal operations and began clearing the backlog of traffic.
