Welcome

Welcome aboard the NX Nemesis, an experimental Achilles Class starship. This new Achilles class ship is equipped with new weapons, shields and ablative hull armor. This ship is evidence of Starfleet's new mission to build ships able for offensive cabilbities. NX Nemesis is quite ready to explore space and most of all to protect the Federation from attack.

The Nemesis is attached to Starbase 118 for shakedown and testing of the new systems. After that Nemesis will become active and given command of Delta-2 task force. The main task force in charge of border defenses of Cardassian Space.

The Commander of Nemesis is Commander Quinn.

History of the Nemesis Name

The NX-Nemesis has a long history despite her rather new name and registery. The ship named USS Nemesis-B (the namesake of the NX-Nemesis) orignally the USS Nemesis-A, was the replacement for the USS Freedom when she was lost behind an experimental shield and invaded by hostile aliens. Under that name, she was designated to Captain Sandolphan Aquiss, who later took command of StarBase 118. When Captain Aquiss became field captain for the StarBase, he recommended that the Nemesis be handed over to his former first officer, Captain Torack Demma. Demma had recently lost his first command, the USS Arizona-A, due to heavy battle damage and a decision by StarFleet to decommission the ship. It was fitting that the Nemesis be handed down to Captain Demma as he had served on it most of his career.

Captain Demma remained in command of the vessel until an incident at Alpha Base 45. Most of the details of this incident are still classified and can not be divulged to those who are not of command status. The end result was that Captain Demma was transferred to Deep Space 72, an old, unkempt station. After the transfer, Demma brokered a deal with his former father-in-law, Admiral Quinn, to regain the Nemesis and have her attached to DS72. However, he had the ship refitted, and renamed, in an attempt to save face for the Admiral who had Demma transferred. Thus the USS Nemesis became the USS Defiance NCC 62397-A. Captain Alder Wong-Aquiss took command of the ship in 2378. Soon after the change of captaincy, the ship was renamed the USS Nemesis-B as an homage to the ship's first Captain.

After the destruction of USS Nemesis-B during a battle with the Borg. In honor of the sacrifice of the Nemesis-B, the USS Achilles, a prototype battlecruiser that had been undergoing refits since the end of the Dominion War, was renamed Nemesis. The newest Nemesis was lost during an attempt to stop the defection of a Starfleet Admiral to the Romulan Empire. However, a vessel matching the description of the Nemesis, though with the ship's original registry and name on its hull, has been sighted a number of times on the borders of the Federation, most recently near Deep Space 17 in the Ithassa Region.
