Major Geopolitical Events 2380: After a series of set backs and infiltrations since the mid-2370s, the infamous Orion Syndicate is extinguished through the combined efforts of Starfleet Intelligence, StarBase 118 Ops and SB118 Fleet officers. 2381: A group of terrorists operating in the Haliian system bombs several cities, attempting to persuade planets on the outskirts of the Federation to declare independence. 2383: The Federation's increasing presence in the Eratis System led to conflict with the Gorn Hegemony and ultimately the Battle of Eratis and the Gorn Conflict of 2383. 2387: Four years later, the Second Battle of Eratis concluded with the capture of Deep Space 17 by the Vaadwaur. The Vaadwaur Occupation lasted until Operation Bright Star, when the station was finally liberated by Starfleet on SD 238709.19. Later in 2387, the Hobus supernova destroyed the Romulan homeworlds of Romulus and Remus. 2388: The USS Constitution-B is hijacked by Armeni, a psychotic, Betazoid felon, and used to destroy the Betazoid city of Ohmallera, killing 1.2 million people. Structures such as Lornae's parliament building, the Scientific Institute of Kekorna, Norshtorn Trading Centre, and Qeem's Venderbahgn Church are destroyed. 238908 – The Klingons invade Romulan territory. 238908.24 – A Klingon armada of 11 warships decloaked and began firing on the Thunder, killing Commander Janzen and most of the beta-shift bridge crew with the initial wave of fire. While the Cheyenne class ship tried to fend off the attackers, the commander of the Romulan forces, D’Nal Merek, and Fleet Captain Turner created a hasty alliance against the aggressors. Honoring the agreement, the Romulan detachment pitched in against the Klingon forces. With the Thunder’s shields failing and the enemy relentless, Merek began to transport the crew off the doomed vessel. As the fighting raged, a general evacuation of the Embassy was executed and the civilians were prepared to be flown out. 238907.09 – Commander Kali Nicholotti is promoted to Captain. 238909.12 – Ian West graduates from Starfleet Academy as an ensign. 238911.03 – Tallis Rhul is promoted to Captain.
