Shinraka
Shinraka is located in a narrow 3 light year wide corridor that starts at the edge of the Trinity Sector and is sandwiched between the Romulan Neutral Zone and the Klingon Empire. It is approximately 28.7 lightyears from Starbase 118. It is approximately 15 minutes from the Romulan Neutral zone at warp 7.
Deep Space 24 has been re-located here and now orbits around the planet. As well the Federation has established a colony on this planet for the Dabh'aelisu (A.K.A. "The Dark"), a new species that evolved from the Romulans.
Stats
- it's orbit is approximately 283 million km from it's star
- a Class M planet with a diameter of 9,509 km (5,943 miles).
- a density of 6.4 and a gravity of 0.87 G's
- a minor seasonal variation due to there being an axial tilt of 9%
- temperatures are on average 33C during the day and dropping to 17C at night
- only about 52% surface water
- an atmosphere with a pressure of about 0.92 earth normal with nitrogen 73%, oxygen 22% and argon 5%
- with a year of 392 days, each day is 26 hours long
- primary terrain features are jungle and dense vegatation
Resources
Original planetary survey was conducted by the Klingons. Prior to the settlement of the colony a civilian research team from the Federation conducted another planetary survey to confirm the findings of the original survey and ensure that the planet was viable for colonization.
Data from both surveys shows abundant plant life. A complex eco-system with animals, fish, birds, reptiles and insects. Also plenty of industrial, heavy and light metals. Some gems and crystals but for the most part sub-standard with few practical uses. Some rare metals but not in high enough quantity or quality to make them practical at this time. No radioactives detected.
Moons
- it has 3 tiny moons
- Romulus: is 245 km (153 miles) in diameter, with a density of 4.9 and a gravity of 0.02 G's. It orbits the planets surface at a height of 20,598 km. (12,874 miles)
- Remus: is 458 km (286 miles) in diameter, with a density of 4.2 and a gravity of 0.03 G's. It orbits the planets surface at a height of 23,773 km. (14,858 miles)
- Sharik: is 594 km (371 miles) in diameter, with a density of 4.6 and a gravity of 0.04 G's. It orbits the planets surface at a height of 25,515 km. (15,947 miles)
Stations
Deep Space 24 is in geo-synchronous orbit above the planets surface at a height of 32,000 km. (20,000 miles) It maintains it's location above the equator just south of Capitol City.
About the People
The People of Shinraka
"The Dark" (Dabh'aelisu), are an evolved telepathic form of the Romulans lead by Sharik, a Romulan with those telepathic capabilities who was educated on Earth, and returned to Romulas to help his people escape from the persecution of outcasts and countless years of Slavery, exile and death by the Romulans and Tal Shiar.
Sharik assembled the few remaining Dabh'aelisu, now shattered by the conquering spirits of the radical Romulans, to glimpse of what could be their salvation - an escape on a Romulan Scout Ship named the D'haraza. Among the handful of Dabh'aelisu with Sharik were Ael Khellian (female) and Rhian D'Heyahh (male), both of important lineage and in their mid twenties, both of them Dabh'aelisu who had to hide their telepathic abilities or be killed. After meeting each other, they fell in love and embraced their heritage, and were destined to become the parents of the first pure Dabh'aelisu, the beginning of the Dabh'aelisu race.
The Dabh'aelisu populace on the scout ship claimed sanctuary within Federation Space and were placed under the protection of the USS Challenger and the USS Thunder to escort the scout vessel to Shinraka.
Sharik is now the Dabh'aelisu Ambassador to the Federation, and Rhian is the Dabh'aelisu Senator, taking on the task of getting Shinraka and its people ready of admission to the Federation of Planets.
