He had a chance to fight for his people on Duronis II when the Vigilant headed to Til'Ahn to help stop a Bluegill invasion. He was deafened in an explosion which nearly claimed his life. With his partner Chen's support he got back on his feet, despite a rough journey he eventually made it back on duty. He retook command of Deep Space 6 after a Zalkonian force took the Ops centre and lead his team to victory, pushing back the Zalkonian force and saving the Slipstream drive they intended to steal, despite being deaf. While being held captive and living a falose life in "Ravensville" as part of an alien social experiment Greir proposed to his partner Chen. Not long after being returned to reality Chen was assigned to an undercover mission and Greir was offered his own Command on the USS Darwin-A.
