Lieutenant Commander Skyleena Blake, (regularly called "Sky" or quite simply "Blake"), a Brekkian Betazoid hybrid, is currently the Chief of Security and Second Officer aboard the USS Avandar. She is bond-mate to Lieutenant Sabor, and mother to her child Faith.

She was previously the Chief of Security at the Duronis II Embassy, on board the USS Mercury, the USS Ronin, and a Security officer on the USS Challenger-A. Her record is not the best, as it has many "dents and bruises" for her early career, but she has put a considerable amount of effort into rectifying it.

PERSONAL INFORMATION

Personality

  • Has a telepathy rating of T4 Long Range Uncontrollable. Is also bonded to Sabor, which enables her to 'borrow' his Vulcan abilities. Because of the bond, she can now speak Vulcan Golic, along with knowing everything he does.
  • Sky is caring and friendly to those around her, especially after having her daughter, Faith, and being bonded to Sabor. It probably shows that she has a different perspective on her life.
  • Although half Betazoid, Sky has no control over her telepathy, thus she is unable to control what or whose thoughts she hears. However, after bonding with Sabor, she is slowly learning how to block out the thoughts around her, or at least limit the amount of "noise". It is "good" news for those around her, as she is now less likely to hear the thoughts of all her crew members.
  • Is easily angered or annoyed if she, her friends, or her family are insulted. Has also been known to lash out at people for this.
  • On stardate 239008.27, Sky was under the belief that she had accidentally killed (or, in better words, obliterated) Commander Dickens, Lieutenant Anora, Marine Captain Valentino and others in their party after using ships' phasers in an attempt to clear a storm. The experience has left her extremely cautious in her own decisions. She also now refuses to fire phasers at a planet.

Appearance

2390. Slightly battered and bruised after an enduring mission.

Has been called the "spitting image" of her mother several times, but has her grandmother's eyes. Some people have even had trouble remembering this fact, thinking Sky as Lila, or Lila as Sky. Sky's hair is relatively shorter than what it once was, it's length barely above her shoulders.

  • Height: 5'11
  • Hair Color: Blond
  • Length of Hair: Just above shoulder length and wavy.
  • Eye Color: Bright Green.
  • Birthmarks, Scars, Tattoos: Scar on her lower back from a Bajoran dagger piercing her spinal cord. For some unknown reason, she refuses offers to remove it.
  • Build: Athletic and curved.
  • Taste in clothing (Off Duty): After the birth of her daughter, something purely simple. Only ever wears formal clothing if the situation is just that; formal.
  • Taste in clothing (On Duty): Has a taste in the long field jacket, but only wears it on away missions. Wears StarFleet uniform just like everyone else.
  • Voice: Seritonian accent when speaking a Brekkian language. Has something that could be considered as an American accent when speaking Earth English. Due to bonding with Sabor, she is also able to speak Golic Vulcan, but it is barely understandable due to difficulties in regards to pronunciation. Is in the middle range of an alto and a soprano.

Manner

  • Habits: Tends to throw knives at random things (most notably a dart board when she has run out of darts) when she's in a bad mood. Also tends to swear in Seritonian Brekkian when she thinks the situation requires it.
  • Religion/Spiritual Devotion: Norssian
    • Believes in a Brekkian goddess called Noree, although, due her pregnancy with Faith, she now has more faith in Skyleena. Sky rarely gets time to pray anymore due to most of her spare time taken up by Faith, but she does send the occasional thought to her. She plans on attempting to raise Faith in the Norssian religion, but has decided that she will allow Faith to do whatever she pleases in that area of her life should she not choose to be a Norssian.

Hobbies and Pastimes

File:Sky-Holodeck.jpg
Blake and Carbo Stryker, a hologram of which Sky worked with a lot when she was off duty.
  • Socialization:
    • It has been noted by Deven Zell that yelling at Sky when she's yelling at you will get the situation nowhere, as she's built herself to take verbal abuse, and to just throw it back. Talking calmly, or even waiting for a few seconds for her to cool off, has proven more likely to work.
    • A hot topic with Sky these days has proven to be Faith - her daughter simply amuses her, and Sky still has a lot to understand when it comes to raising children; but it's clear that she seems to be doing a good job.
  • Holodeck/Outside:
    • It's true, Sky spends most of her free time in the Holodeck, especially with her daughter. As Faith grows up, the more Sky attempts to teach her to appreciate the landscape.
  • Work:
    • When not with Faith, Sky can be considered to be bored. She prefers to be doing field work, and tends to get sour at paperwork - at some points, she didn't manage to complete all the work she was given before transfers.

Likes

All of the above should be counted.

  • She's a Choco-holic:
    • Starts to have what seems like withdrawal symptoms if she goes without some for more than two weeks, but seems to be determined to stay away from it after Faith's birth.
    • Is a sucker for Brekkian White Chocolate.
  • Cats:
    • Sky has always - ever since a child - wanted a kitten or a cat, just so that she wasn't alone in her quarters or room. Sky seems to have a loving tendency for them.

Dislikes

  • Thunder and Lightning:
    • Due to the lack of rain in Kekorna and Lornae city together, Sky refuses to be anywhere near thunder and lightning. This could be because she is scared of them.
    • Whenever a Holodeck program makes thunder and lightning it's weather, Sky deliberately changes it.
  • Bullies:
    • It's understandable that she doesn’t seem to like bullies, especially when she was bullied and teased her whole life. She stands up to anyone who harasses or bullies other members of the crew, and constantly suggests to her officers to lay charges if other people, who are in StarFleet, ever threaten, harass or bully them.

Quarters

Part of the living room of Sky's quarters. They are always clean due to Sabor's presence.

Due to Faith, Sky doesn't inhabit the usual crew quarters - instead, she has a family quarters, with three bedrooms. There is the occasional ornament on the shelves. Since Sabor moved in, there is now a large bookshelf completely filled with books, set up in sections - children's books, non-fiction, novels/fiction, religious texts, and books Sabor saved from StarFleet Academy. Faith's toys can also be found in a colored box next to the couch. There are a few paintings from both Sky and Sabor's backgrounds. Images of family friends can also be seen (most notably of Hannah Martinez, Deven Zell, Hannibal Parker, and Sabor's sister Veusa).

One of the bedrooms is for Faith, as the 14 month old is slowly learning to sleep independently. For the nights that she can't, there is always the crib that attaches to her parents bed. In Faith's room, a Jaspern (a Brekkian rock capable of glowing and changing colors) serves as a nightlight.

Sky and Sabor's room is very simple, with nothing unusual in it. While the wardrobe bares the clothing of both Sky and Sabor, Sky's clothing is more dominant, and takes up the most room. About three small boxes with a set of five weapons in each, are in a locked draw of the tallboy (and why wouldn't they be with Faith around) along with two of her phasers. There is always a phaser on Sky's bedside table (with it's battery in the top draw) alongside both a communicator and telepathic inhibitor. On Sabor's bedside table, there is usually a bottle of hand de-bug next to a rather thick book he is reading.

  • Pets: Kitty (Cat)
    • Is alive because she was rescued by Arden Cain and Tobias Walker during the final Shore Leave on the Ronin and again by Parker on board the Mercury. Although she is Sky's only pet and loves her a heap, the attention to Kitty has had to take a back-seat. Faith, however, has taken a liking to Kitty, and Sky's glad that Kitty isn't game enough to attack Faith. Kitty currently sleeps in the spare bedroom, and only rarely comes out unless its to eat, drink or ask for attention.
  • Favourite Room: Outside or Holodeck

Workplaces

Due to the Avandar's layout, the Chief of Security and the Chief Tactical Officer are required to share an office.

Previously sharing an office with Commander Eerie before he was transferred, Sky now has the office all to herself - until such time the Avandar can appoint a new Chief Tactical Officer. While there is room for "personal improvement", Sky's side of the office is more or less bare. Her knife collection was immediately put in the second draw of her desk, but thankfully doesn't need to be locked away due to the required security clearance to get onto the deck.

After her dartboard fell apart due to it's misuse as target practice for knives, there is now a large piece of wood that's 'designed' for Sky's continuous target practice - it is set to the left of the door, and can usually be seen with at least two knives stuck in it. She also has one or two images of friends (specifically Deven Zell and Hannibal Parker), and one of the crew of the USS Mercury when it was first launched. Her 'phaser-gun', which was a present Parker gave to her when she first became the Acting Chief of Security on the Ronin, is usually left on her desk in it's holster.

Sky no longer has to "travel every deck" to get to things or check up on people. The Luna class design has made a Security Officer's life slightly easier - something Sky would call "certain luxuries". The whole of Deck Eight is for Security and Tactical, and only people with that type of Security access can actually get onto it - much like Deck Ten for the Marines.

Achievements and Disappointments

  • Achievements:
    • Graduating Starfleet Academy top of her security class.
    • Getting promoted from Ensign to Lieutenant JG.
    • Was promoted to Acting Chief of Security on board the USS Ronin.
    • Was promoted to Lieutenant and Chief of Security on the same day on board the USS Ronin. Although she claims that she doesn't exactly like the role of being a department head, she has already done well.
    • Received seven awards.
    • Found out she was pregnant with a girl, and gave birth to Faith Juanita Blake on board the USS Thunder.
    • Promoted to Lieutenant Commander at the Embassy of Duronis II.
    • Given the role of Second Officer, which is to go along with her duties as Chief of Security, on board the USS Avandar
  • Disappointments:
    • Her childhood. She was never really accepted into anything, which made a big impact on her personality now.
    • Was involved with the Brekkian civil war, and was caught in the middle of the bombings.
  • Ambitions/Goals:
    • Sky currently just wants to be a good mother, and "a decent StarFleet officer".

Family

Father

Rex Blake, Sky's father, was a full Brekkian, and was a Seritonian scientist. The relationship between Sky and Rex was not even there, as Rex believed Sky was a specimen of his (she was, at that time, the only Brekkian Betazoid hybrid on record), and dedicated himself only to his work. Although living with her parents for sixteen years, Sky barely knew Rex.

Rex was killed during the Seritonian bombings (in the area of Kekorna), one of thousands who died throughout the Brekkian country - he met his death in a Science facility, along with other fellow scientists who worked there. In Rex's will, all of the research Lila and Rex had collect on Sky was all handed over to her, possibly in an attempt to help her with Faith's biology, but no one will ever know why.

Lila and Rex.

Mother

Lila Cole, Sky's full Betazoid mother, is currently somewhere on Betazed, and her reasons to be there are unknown. Sky originally didn't get along with her mother, until she joined StarFleet Academy - of which time her mother went after her to talk with her. Opposite to her father, Lila actually cared about her daughter's whereabouts and her well being. She managed to get their relationship to the point where Sky would communicate with her every day, and Sky would tell her what’s on her mind.

Lila was the first to be notified of Rex's death, but was unable to attend due to the distance between Duronis and Brekka. She divorced Rex because he was too controlling, and returned to her maiden name of Cole. It's presumed that she's currently taking care of his will.

Spouse

Sabor in late 2389.

Sky is telepathically bonded to Lieutenant Sabor, her Armory Officer on board the Avandar, after he underwent pon farr. Her relationship with him only became public when the two were first transferred to the Avandar - something that was possibly influenced by one Hannibal Parker. Recently, Sky appointed Sabor as Faith's legal guardian, thus he is now her adoptive father, although he acted in this role for a while previously, and loves Faith as if she was his own. They are currently expecting their second child.

Sabor suffers from OCD and germophobia, which only became a problem for the two when Chase Valaine tampered with the ship's replicator system to get back at Sky for a prank - Sabor was unable to access replicated water, and he found it excruciatingly difficult to deal with having water from the kitchen tap. It resulted in him having an outburst about it to Sky in the ship's Armory, where he told her of his brother Tuvrem's death and how it affected him and his sister, Veusa. It made her realize the gravity of his situation, and has become increasingly supportive of him.

  • Past Relationships
    • Diego Herrera: Neither of them could bring themselves to admit that they loved each other. Unfortunately, Diego was told to report back to Earth, with Sky to report to the Ronin. The goodbye was short and difficult. More than a year later, Sky contacted him during shore leave on the Avandar. The conversation ended abruptly shortly after Sky told him of Faith and the outline of her relationship with Sabor (however, she did not tell Diego their names, and Sabor was only briefly mentioned). Diego made the excuse that he was working to end the conversation and possibly avoid more, but Sky plans on attempting to talk to him again.
    • Hannibal Parker: Parker and Sky have somewhat of a history. They were on the same posting until Sky was transferred to the Avandar, and Parker was not especially pleased. They didn't get goodbyes due to Sky being shipped off straight away, but she did attempt to leave a note, which failed to reach its destination due to the communications system at the Embassy being taken offline. It's unknown exactly what damage has occurred to their relationship.
    • Angelo Valentino: Not even something Sky considered a relationship, but a one-night-stand. It resulted in a fight between Valentino and Parker. Afterwards, Valentino came to her home, mainly wanting the privileges she took from him reinstated. Instead, he spent a little bit of time with Faith, who seemed to like Valentino very much. The two did not get to say goodbye to each other, due to Sky's unexpected leaving.
    • Deven Zell: A relationship that Sky now considers her best, although, Deven was reassigned, and did not attempt to tell her goodbye. He returned to the Mercury in a bad shape, having a break-down in front of Sky. The two agreed that they'd help each other, but shortly after being transferred to the Embassy and the Thunder, he had suffered yet another break-down, and was sent to a Medical Facility on Earth while Sky was not on board the Thunder. It was not explained when he left exactly, but it was explained that he was transferred by the order of an unknown Medical officer.
    • Alixis Ozera: Was in a stable relationship with Alix, until he suddenly disappeared without a trace on stardate 238902.19.
    • Carina Mycroft: Apparently the start of her sexual relationships, Carina was her first, and currently only, bisexual relationship. She was 'returned' to Sky by the order of the BTA due to some rule breaking whilst mentoring three students, which earned her a suspension.

Children

Faith at 12 months old.

A beautiful baby girl born on stardate 238905.17 in the USS Thunder's Sick Bay. Faith is biologically not related to anyone apart from Sky and her family - in short, biologically, she doesn't have a father. It was originally thought that she was conceived between Sky and Alixis Ozera, but after finding out that Ozera was unable to conceive, how Faith is alive became an even bigger mystery.

Faith has dark green eyes currently - taking after her mother and her great grandmother (Sky's father's side) - and all the features a newborn has. It's reasonable to believe that she will gain the same abilities as Sky - some sort of telepathy, and a Brekkian charge.

Sky named Hannah Martinez and Hannibal Parker as Faith's godparents. Should anything happen to Sky, and she is not involved with anyone, Faith is to be cared for by either one of her godparents. However, due to Sky's posting on the Avandar, it has become increasingly difficult to keep in touch with the two.

PROFESSIONAL INFORMATION

Education

Kekorna Schooling

Was born in Kekorna, and thus, went to a Kekorna pre-school for about two years, until her parents moved her to Kekorna Publisse Public School. (A Publisse school means that it's almost all years of teaching).

During this time, she excelled in Physical Education and that of Science and Linguistic skills. Her scores for Mathematics, SSL (Social Skills for Life or "Drama") and History were awfully low due to her low turn-up rate of those classes, and her teachers stated that it was because she was "wagging" them with her friends to seem "cool", when, in fact, her friends were in trouble or Marloy had signed her out of school. One of these instances included an incident of which Bailey Lowe was handcuffed around a Library post.

She continued her education there until she dropped out in Year 9, of which she left Kekorna to go and continue her athletic training.

Brekkian Training Association

After dropping out of KPPS, Marloy requested that Sky become a student of the BTA - an association which keeps people who have either dropped out of school or have been kicked out for numerous amounts of reasons. She was accepted, and Marloy became her mentor full time.

Two years after being accepted, Marloy was put on leave due to personal reasons. The BTA decided that Carina Mycroft (a mentor specializing in social activities) would take his place. During the first few weeks, Sky and Carina argued, and Carina even had something thrown at her a couple of times, but things did clear up. After a month and a half, the two became good friends. During her time with Carina, Sky was made more aware of things like alcohol, drugs and sexual activities, as well as special social events like Award and Recognition nights for her gymnastics. Her time with Carina lasted almost two years until Marloy returned.

Whilst recovering from her spinal injury on DS9, the BTA sent Carina to offer Sky a mentoring position, one of which she respectfully denied. However, she is currently a member of the BTA, contributing majorly to the education of children under the age of 12.
