Prologue
The crew of the Khitomer is split between two teams and are then briefed on the imminent invasion of Deep Space 33 by the Lattice Alliance. The team who stayed aboard the Khitomer, led by Captain Shayne, sat in wait while the Ronin feigned helplessness with a self-sabotaged nacelle. The plan was to use the Ronin as bait to draw out the Lattice Alliance and use the element of surprise to wipe them out. If the gambit paid off, they could potentially prevent the invasion all together, or at the very least buy more time for defenses to be completed on Deep Space 33. While the Khitomer slunk in the shadows within warp range, Chief Medical Officer Ohnari began preparing inoculations meant to decrease the effects of an indirect hit of a weaponized form of Sencha Wave radiation, a newly developed Alliance capability.
Meanwhile, the away team, led by First Officer Hobart are aboard Deep Space 33, stationed in Cargo Bay A34. Hobart informs his team that the Ronin too has a team aboard the station to help set up defenses. Their task, however, was to ensure any remaining holdouts and the defense team are able to evacuate the station or hold out long enough for Starfleet to arrive.
Act 1
The Lattice Alliance drops out of warp surrounding the faux-lame Ronin. The Khitomer is alerted and warps to the Ronin’s rescue. During the space battle the Alliance uses their dreaded spaced weapon which is shown to particularly harmful to telepaths and those with mental abilities. The explosion injures several crew members. On the bridge, Commander Morgan is knocked unconscious by the Sencha Wave Radiation and Ensign Prix is removed from her posting due to an injury. Chief Medical Officer and her team work quickly to inoculate the bridge crew with Hyronalyn, prioritizing telepaths.
In the bowels of the ship, the engineering crew frantically try to fix the ongoing damage to the Khitomer. Chief Petty Officer Brom, realizing that a sacrifice must be made so that the Khitomer’s warp core can be purged of the deadly Sencha Radiation, encloses himself with the core and initiates the process. Ensign Michaels is injured during the attempts to repair the ship. Ensigns Lacy and Sparks attempt to help Michaels while also trying to convince Brom to stand down. The core purges itself and Brom is flooded with radiation, killing him within minutes but saving the ship in the process.
The two ships are able to hold their own but realize they themselves had been baited into a trap, lured away from protecting the station.
On Deep Space 33, Commander MacKenna and Commander Raga of the Ronin, knowing that the Alliance are on their way, race to finish defensive preparations. The Khitomer away team is assigned various duties, including securing the station for evacuation, developing countermeasures against the Sencha Wave radiation, and planning for the station's potential destruction. Ensign El'Heem begins working on a way to replicate inoculations with limited access to medical facilities. Ensign Matthews explores the station's emergency protocols and transport options. Chief Security Officer Zenno and 1st Lieutenant Torado are charged with preparing the station's self-destruct mechanism as a last resort. The officers split up and begin their tasks.
Ensign El’Heem begins work on modifying a regulated cargo replicator to replicate inoculations for both the team and incoming evacuees. He creates a version of Hyronalyn and Epinephrine called Hyropinephrine, and administers it to those in Cargo Bay A24. This happens to include a holdout on Deep Space 33, a Ferengi doctor named Gott who has a negative reaction with the drug and begins swelling up incredibly fast. As First Officer Hobart begins negotiations with Gott to commandeer his personal vessel for evacuation purposes, Ensign Matthews begins modifying the cargo transporter for faster transporting of evacuees. Meanwhile, Chief Security officer Zenno and 1st Lieutenant Torado make their way to Main Engineering where they successfully arm the station’s self-destruct mechanism while facing some resistance from the station's gravity plating buckling under an incoming attack.
The team's preparations are interrupted by a red alert, indicating the arrival of the Lattice Alliance, at which point the evacuation of the station is put into motion. First Officer Hobart orders the team to accelerate their plans to get people out via the modified cargo transporter and aboard the Billable Hours, Gott’s civilian ship. As they move to enact their plans, the team braces for an imminent battle and the potential destruction of the station
