Personal History

Born in 2342, Jack spent most of his early years aboard his father’s starship, the USS Firebird. By the time he was sixteen, he was cleared for piloting on all craft models and enlisted with Starfleet early. A brash and fairly notorious prankster, the young Jack cleared both Intel’s Securities Exam as well as Flight School and began his Academy years as both an Intel Field Operative as well as a fighter pilot.

Jack’s senior year in the Academy led to the banned "Star-Cross" manuever he and four other cadets performed by buzzing the Flight Tower at the Mars Colony in 2364. Unfortunately, it proved to be a bad manuever as he was nearly kicked out of Starfleet by a visiting Admiral.

However, undeterred, Kelray went on to serve on the USS Ticongeroga as a fighter pilot and served a two year stint before Starfleet Intelligence activated his field agent status. In 2366 Kelray abruptly disappeared off Starfleet radar. Of notable reference, two conspirators were discovered by the Klingon Empire hiding near the Federation/Klingon border. Only a reference can be inferred at this point.

Kelray returned to the Ticongeroga in 2368 and continued to fly, working his way into the rank of Lieutenant. Starfleet mothballed the ship in 2370 and Kelray was reassigned to Starbase 109, first as a fighter pilot and later promoted to Wing Commander. He married his first wife, Lillian Sade, who was killed in a dogfight raid that framed the Cardassian Empire. A single child, Elizabeth, was saved.

Kelray continued to serve in his capacity as Wing Commander and through a series of mishaps with cracking a Romulan implanted nanite, had his MIPS unit fused with his cerebral cortex. It was from that mishap he acquired a symbotic relationship with computer systems and the start of what Starfleet later classified as the point of destabilization.

In 2377 Kelray and Starbase 109’s CMO, Caitlin Merced, married after a nasty set of complications with the arrival of his family, as well as another intended bride, that set up the spiral pattern. It was a surprise to many that the marriage proved to stabilize the man, and Kelray was reassigned to command CNC operations of the Starbase with a promotion to Lt. Commander.

Unbeknownst to Jack, Intel began cracking down on its counterpart, Section 31. A purging, as the history files record. What exactly Kelray’s involvement was in the shakedown is undetermined, but he was determined he was in command of a bunch of Intel operatives. By the end of it, Jack was exposed as a field Intelligence Officer of rank and narrowly avoided a court-martial.

A year later, in 2379, Jack was permanently reassigned to SFI as an Undercover Operations Specialist and was granted a promotion to Commander. His time was divided between overseeing the operations of the Starbase orbiting the Earthia dilithium mining colony and training Intel cadets. His family had settled on Erathia and for once, he was truly happy in a stable work and home relationship… until 238001.01.

Jack had been training another SFI officer during the time prior when he up and up vanished. Shortly after, he had arrived at the Beta Andreas Shipyards and before anyone realized, swiped an experimental fighter and took off with it. The reasons behind the abrupt departure were never broadcast. SFI issued a warrant for his arrest.

Kelray resurfaced in 2383 inside the Ithassa Region at the outbreak of the Gorn-Federation Conflict, landing on DS17. Whereupon he offered his assistance with the invading Gorn Fleet, until Admiral Anassasi arrived with some of her crew of the Independence and threw Kelray into the brig.

It was during the battle for DS17 and the invasion of Gorn forces into the starbase that allowed Jack to escape from the detention facilities. Utilizing one of his former student’s transporter relay chips, he managed to beam himself out before being killed, and sabotaged the environmental controls to Docking Bay 3 where the Gorn had landed. He killed over 2000 Gorn then hijacked the 47th Platoon Division, leading a strike against the Gorn flagship Emperor’s Fang.

The ship was destroyed by the ramming of the USS Independence during the fight inside. While marines of the 47th have been found, it was unknown at the time whether Kelray managed to get out, or was killed in the destruction of both ships. He was later found to have survived and with a ship and crew of the Free Trade Union, last heard heading for the Core Worlds of the FTU.

First Strike

Kelray and crew struck at an FTU Outpost Base deep inside Ithassa, rescuing the first of the Erathia colonists and killing the former Orion Captain of the slaver ship Brijjin on stardate 238404.09.
