The Hobus supernova was a catastrophic event that occurred in 2387, centered around the destruction of the Hobus star. Unlike any previously observed supernova, the Hobus supernova wrought havoc and destruction across such a massive scale that it threatened the entire Milky Way galaxy. Though Ambassador Spock was successful in containing the explosion at the cost of his life, many star systems were lost in the supernova's wake, including that of Romulus and Remus, crippling the Romulan Star Empire. The effects of the disaster are expected to be felt for generations to come.
Starfleet Reponse
In the aftermath of the Hobus supernova, the Federation and Starfleet took on a series of relief missions to aid the various peoples displaced by the disaster, particularly the Romulans.
Hobus Relief Campaign Veterans
Starfleet officers who served during the Hobus Relief Campaign were subsequently awarded the Hobus Heroism Ribbon.
