Background & History

Anname was born and raised in Muncie, Indiana, Earth. Her motivation for joining Starfleet was from living in Muncie, Indiana, Earth. She has also confided that she didn’t know if she wanted to be in Starfleet, because "the recruiters talked me into it", and that she "just wanted to see all the weird and strange things in space".

She was recruited into Starfleet when there was a recruitment drive in her area. She performed well academically at school and college, and in the Starfleet entrance exam.

Starfleet Academy

Annamae attended Starfleet Academy as an Engineering cadet for five months and sixteen days and did not graduate. While at the Academy she achieved exemplary academic results and topped many classes. One of her instructors classed her helm abilities as "just short of advanced" compared to the other cadets in her class. In stressful scenarios she demonstrates natural leadership and asserts authority.

However she was reprimanded for repeated disciplinary issues, and had multiple black marks against her name for her behaviour. Officers at the Academy persisted with her because they thought she had huge potential as a Starfleet officer. An assessment on her academy transcript states that "Annamae is mean and mostly rude, disruptive, anti-social, and does not respect the chain of command, which taints her potential as an outstanding officer. She would have otherwise been an asset to Starfleet." It also states that "Cadet Barberra’s natural engineering prowess and abilities would be much better utilised for useful engineering practices rather than for practical jokes that affect an entire section of the Academy dormitory."

Annamae later conceded that the reason that she did not graduate was that "I was a bit bored, and didn’t behave myself."

Transfer to Starfleet Technical Services Academy

After multiple infractions, Starfleet instructors suggested Annamae enlist to see if she really wanted to be a Starfleet officer. She accepted, and transferred to Starfleet Technical Services Academy to train as a Crewman, specialising in Administrative Services.

First Assignment: Amity Outpost

Annamae's first Starfleet assignment was to Amity Outpost, in the role of Liaison Officer for the Starfleet Attaché (who was Amity's First Officer, Lieutenant Commander Wil Ukinix). She at first found the assignment unsatisfactory, which she shared with Lieutenant Commander Cassian Iovianus - "'To seek out new life and new civilizations'. Pfft. They didn’t say, 'to boldly push PADDs around until you lose the will to live.'" At first she also found Amity Outpost didn't meet her expectations. "I was expecting drab decor, gray bulkheads, a maze of corridors that’s easy to get lost in, and lots of creepy people. Instead, it’s like a small, fancy, pretty, exciting city, and just about everyone’s attractive", and that disappointed her because she "wanted gray and boring and creepy." She was also unsure about her career, and was of the opinion that Starfleet chose her rather then her choosing Starfleet as a career.

During her first month Commander Ukinix had suggested he would send her back to Earth for breaking Starfleet regulations by bringing intimate partners with her on duty. Not long after, she later had a change of heart about her Starfleet career, deciding that "maybe I want to be an officer." She asked Commander Ukinix not to send her back to Earth, who then assigned her to a scientific exploration mission with Amity's senior crew aboard the USS Independence-B to "observe and learn".

Whisk ingredients in a large bowl. Heat a lightly greased non-stick pan over low medium heat, and pour some mixture. Cook until bubbles break on the surface and underside is golden brown, then flip and cook for 1 minute. Repeat process for remaining mixture, then serve with a topping of your choice.
