This was a hobby the Rocar practiced a lot when he was stationed at the Federation Embassy on the planet [[Duronis II]].
 
Rocar has long been an avid rock climber. Even as a teenager when he got in to trouble for climbing a forbidden mountain on Vulcan. (see [http://wiki.starbase118.net/wiki/index.php?title=Drawoh-Hilzarie,_Rocar/Personal_History:_Early_Years#Teenage_Years| Rocar's teenage years article]).Over the years he has continued to climb on away missions and for fun. Rocar was once taken to an American Football match in the holodeck by Lt.Cmdr. John Sheriden, but the Ktarian did not understand much about the terran's favourite sport. He is, however, always intrigued and eager to learn about alien culture's sporting practices.
 
At the Academy and as a junior officer Rocar was known to play racket ball, however, he has not played in recent years due to not having someone to play against. Rocar sometimes practices boxing and hand-to-hand combat with his Chief of Security [[Webb, Cyrus|Cyrus Webb]]. More regularly, however, he can be found working out (particularly on the weights) in the officer's gym between 16 hundred and 18 hundred hours every weekday; and can be found Rock Climbing on the holodeck every Saturday morning. When he meets up with the crew of the [[USS Constitution-B]] he always goes climbing with his former Historian & Archaelogical Officer Lt.Cmdr. [[T'Lea]].
 
=====Musical Interests=====
Rocar is a brilliant concert pianist. He has a [[Ktarian grand piano]] which he's kept in his quarters on all of his assignments and has won prizes at Ktarian music festivals, though he never boasts of his musical ability. Playing the [[Ktarian]] Grand Piano is difficult since it has brown keys inserted between the black and white keys to play demi-semitones. Interestingly, he also has a small upright piano in the corner of his office which he uses to unwind between meetings. He also interprets old folk songs from around the Federation on an acoustic folk Guitar from [[Ktaria VII]] (with 9 Strings), something he started during his days as a medical student.

One of Rocar's main hobbies is Cooking. His speciality being [http://memory-alpha.org/wiki/Ktarian_chocolate_puff Ktarian Chocolate Puff] with 17 different varieties of Chocolate which he makes from his maternal grandmother's family recipe. Rocar has had a corner of his personal quarters converted into a kitchen area with special utensils.  Most evenings. Rocar tends to avoid using the replicator: Instead, when he was stationed on Starbase 118 he used to enjoy a trip to the Starbase’s promenade where he likes to purchase genuine fresh food ingredients from the many alien traders. To Rocar this was one of the principal advantages to being assigned to a Starbase over a starship although when on a Starship he enjoys collecting unique ingredients from the planets they visit. When Rocar was  assigned to [[Starbase 118]] as Commanding Officer, Rocar has requested and procured a small allotment space in  one of the Starbase's natural areas. Although he had never had any experience in gardening, he learnt to try growing fresh vegetables (with which to cook) on his lot. The Ktarian secretly used the allotment space as a quiet a peacful place which he would use to escape from the stresses and hassle of busy life (and his job) on the Starbase. When Rocar retired he settled on a small farmstead in the mountains on Ktaria VII where he kept a variety of animals and a vast allotment of home grown vegetables.

Before joining [[Starfleet]] [[Rocar]] was a junior bio-medical scientist on both [[Earth]] (under [http://memory-alpha.org/wiki/Mizan Dr. Mizan]) and at the [[Vulcan Science academy]] under Prof. [[Solvak]]. Rocar's research interests began in inter-species compatibility and in the early years of his career tried to develop a [[Genesis Device Mark 2]] which failed in the early stages of experimentation.
 
During the [[Dominion War]] Rocar was assigned to work on the  [[Zerentares project]] at a penal colony near Betazed. The repercussions of which still haunt Rocar today. Several officers under Rocar's command have been suspicious or had raised interest given the Ktarian's reluctance to talk about what went on during the [[Zerentares project]] and it is clear to many that the Starfleet Captain still feels guilty today.
 
As an Ensign, Rocar helped find a cure for a Naeveus virus epidemic and as a Lt.Jg. on Starbase 118 Rocar discovered and experimented on an unusual substance known as [[Jytzell Fluid]]

Rocar was born on Ktaria VII on stardate 234508.13. Like all Ktarian children he developed quickly at a rate of over 5cm in 3 weeks. Possibly explaining his final towering height of 7' 1"
 
Ktaria was politically Neutral with regards to the Federation and other Alpha Quadrant powers. During this time Rocar learnt the skills of the galaxywide famous Ktarian cuisine including the exquisite Ktaria chocolate puff which contains at least 17 varieties of chocolate. Rocar also learnt of Ktarian culture and it was during this time that he developed his love for music after attending numerous Ktarian music festivals. He also became quite a good skier on the glacial planet.
 
 
At the age of 13 (2358) Rocar left his home world with his parents after Drawoh Trebla (Rocar's Father,) was made ambassador to the Cardassia.
 
Despite various successful negotiations, by early 2360 Rocar's father sought retirement from the complicated life of 'negotiating' with Cardassians, claiming he was appalled at the number of atrocities he had seen authorised by the Cardassian Central Government. The Ktarian government were reluctant to accept the retirement. Instead they reassigned him to their embassy on Vulcan.
 
Now aged 15 it was here where Rocar matured and developped his traits. From Vulcan mentors and teachers he learnt in detail about the technologies and sciences of the federation which he would memorise with great enthusiasm. Surrounded by Vulcan children Rocar made a point of not wanting to be 'as miserable in life as a Vulcan is' and he vowed to always smile whatever the situation.
 
Despite developing his good humour, large grins and a loud laugh; Rocar also learnt from his Vulcan teachers how to hide and control his emotions, however to their 'annoyance' he would only employ these skills when it suited him (usually to hide his fears or mischief from those around him.)
 
Attending Vulcan schools with Vulcan children, Rocar learnt a lot of his patience that would latter make him a diplomat like his father. He also learnt the technical skills and high educational levels that would allow him to become one of the few off-worlders to study medical science at the Vulcan Science Academy once he turned 18.
 
Rocar spent over 6 years on Vulcan and the behavioural traits, skills, technological knowledge and big grins which he developed during this time have clearly stuck with him for the rest of his life. Whilst on Vulcan, Rocar followed the path of many Ktarians and became a good rock climber, causing a fuss at the age of 17 by climbing to the top of the sacred Mount Seleyer. A difficult adolescent, Rocar had set out into the desert to annoy his parents. Seeing the great forbidden mountain the young climber decided to get to the top, rebelling against all authority. Once there the 17 year old had spied on the Vulcan priestesses and was quickly caught. Unamused by this incursion, the authorities only relented when the High Priestesses from the top of Mount Seleyer intervened on the young Ktarians behalf.
 
In 2363 Aged 18, Rocar chooses to follow his mother's career path and enrolls at the Vulcan Science Academy to study medicine for the next five years. His tutor was Prof. Solvak. Although his knowledge of modern science and technologies is more than acceptable he feels his "enjoy-life attitude" separates him from the Vulcans and quits any further studies after he graduated with his MB BS in 2367.
 
 
In 2367, Some Survivors of Wolf 359 are sent to the Starfleet medical hospital on vulcan where newly graduated Doctor Rocar watched his mother at work saving lives. It is here he decides to become a doctor but it is also here that he develops a "secret" feared dislike of certain technologies including transporters but especially anything related with the Borg. Rocar has rarely slept since 2367 having become a total insomniac -something he tries to view as being an advantage rather than a disadvantage. His mother (Dr.Uocap Seluj) was at first concerned by her sons insomnia but eventually decided there was nothing she could do to treat it and took comfort that the only time she ever saw him sleep was whenever he caught an illness. Helping the injured Starfleet Officers made Rocar feel a duty to join Starfleet, but he would not follow the calling for some time.
 
In 2368 A Ktarian game distributed on Risa had the neurological effect of rendering the player a tool of the Ktarian government. With this they planned a takeover of the Federation and other galactic powers. This led to their censure and embargo by the Federation. While Ktarian biotechnology was prized on the black market, the exotic technologies were banned as a sanction for their plot.
 
So in 2368 Rocar's father was brought out of his "backwater embassy" and sent to Earth as Ktarian Ambassador to the United Federation of Planets -regarded as the only man who stood a chance of negotiating the federations' Forgiveness. Resigning from his junior post at a hospital on Vulcan, Rocar joined his Father and worked as a junior diplomat for the Ktarians.
 
It was here that Rocar met many varied, strange and wonderful races and his desire to explore other worlds entered his heart. Shortly after the move to Earth Rocar's youngest brother was born. However, Rocar's father���?�s new workload meant that he was spending less and less time with the large family.
 
In 2371 Rocar's parents divorce and his mother, brother and sister to Ktaria VII. But Rocar is more used to the exotic climates of Vulcan than he is to the glacial environment of his birth planet and remains on Earth with his Father. He continues in his roll as a Diplomat for Ktaria VII, helping his Father (Ambassador Trebla,) to negotiate Ktarian entry into the Federation latter that year.
 
In 2372 his father returns to his former post on Vulcan (having achieved most of his goals.)
 
His task as a diplomat complete, Rocar now joins Star Fleet Academy and in part leaves diplomacy to return to medicine. In essence he took a step towards travelling between the worlds of the races he came to love during his father posting on Earth.
 
At first reluctant to accept an application from Rocar, the academy could not ignore Rocar���?�s technological and scientific skills, his good humoured attitude and the references he received from both his former teachers and the federation diplomats who had dealt with his father.
 
Having served as an Ensign for two years in the Diplomatic Corps, Rocar overcomes the aprehension he picked up after his experiences as a field medical officer in the Dominion Wars. He feels it is time for a change and more active duty. He therefore returns to Starfleet Medical and In 2379 Rocar is posted to Starbase 118 as Assistant Medical Officer to Dr Yavanna. He arrived on the base in the middle of a Naeveus epidemic, which he and the other medical staff eventually managed to cure.
 
Once life had returned to normal on the Starbase, Rocar was part of a small team that boarded a Ferengi vessel and discovered that it was part of their prototype fleet -all equipped with cloaking device.
 
After a nerve racking moment when everyone thought the Ferengi ship was set to self destruct, Rocar took the helm of the vessel and once disaster had been averted returned the ship to Starbase 118 where the cloaking device was removed and transferred to the Starbase for safe keeping.
 
Times are rarely quiet on the Starbase and shortly after being promoted to Lt. Jg. Rocar was forced to receive his first combat experience during a terrorist attack on his new home which nearly made him resign from Starfleet. Latter that year Rocar became romantically involved with the Starbase's counsellor, Gwen Hilzarie. Although Rocar had thought he could never fall in love again, the beautiful Betazoid woman managed to prove him wrong. Rocar continued to live a very happy life on the Starbase where he now feels fully at home and amongst friends.
 
Before joining Sarbase 118 as a Medical Officer, Rocar spent two years as an Ensign with Starfleet diplomatic corps. His reasons were that he felt the need to make amends for his actions as a frontline medic in the Dominion wars and saw the diplomatic corps as a place he could help bring about peace. He also felt unready to face regular dutes after what he had experienced as a Cadet.
 
Towards the end of 2379 Rocar was temporarily assigned to the Prometheus class U.S.S.DOMINANCE as part of the crew sent on a diplomatic mission to Ferenginar to negotiate with the Ferengi over their development of cloaking technology that Rocar, Hebron and McCall had discovered on a Ferengi ship earlier that year.
 
Following the successful completion of this mission, Rocar returns briefly to the Starbase where he studies a dangerous substance known as Jytzell fluid before once again leaving on the USS DOMINANCE for a three-month tour of duty in the Delta Quadrant.
 
During this mission to the Delta Quadrant, Rocar was taken prisoner by a humanoid slave race called the Thiasis. They wanted the doctor���?�s help in preventing a medical condition, which their rulers (the Reptilioid Corbarians) were using against them. The medical condition was in fact an advanced accelerated genetic mutation which turned the Thiasis into the ���?big foot like,��? hairy, Slothian Soldiers (who were loyal to the Corbarians.)
 
Forced to violate the Prime Directive, Rocar found a way of preventing the mutations. Although the Thiasis were left with access to information on how to treat the condition, the original device was found by the Corbarians and used to charge Rocar with plotting to overthrow the Corbarian expanse and crimes against their people. These crimes were punished with the insertion of a tiny microchip deep into Rocar���?�s nervous system. The exact effects of this chip are not yet clear and could not be fully studied until the USS DOMINANCE returned to the Alpha Quadrant.
 
Returning to Starbase 118 on Stardate 238006.15; Rocar was taken off the Medical Roster due to the Punishment Chip affecting his medical abilities. With most of the Ops staff on another mission to the Daris Colony; Rocar was unable to join the USS CONSTITUTION due to the unexpected death of Counsellor Hilzarie���?�s Father. Instead he accompanied his partner to Betazed for the funeral ceremonies and tried to support her as best he could. The couple travelled to Betazed aboard the medical ship USS BRAVEHEART, where Roar���?�s old friend Jan T���?�Yai used her staff and medical facilities to further examine the chip���?�s affect on the Ktairan���?�s Neurology. Eventual treatment was conducted whilst on Betazed by Neurological surgeons at the University and although the effects of the punishment chip could not be completely removed or prevented they were counteracted and have been limited.
 
Cleared for active duty but not for medical practice, Rocar still has to under go two hours of the punishment chip each day, though he can choose when to take his dosage. Leaving Betazed, he and Hilzarie headed out to join the USS CONSTITUTION in the Daris sector where they joined the away team that were examining the mystery of the abandoned federation colony on Daris II.
 
Rocar worked out a way of using a starship���?�s deflectors to deionise the planet���?�s atmosphere to allow free transport and communication with those on the surface. However, this also had the surprise effect of killing the zombies, which were posing a dangerous threat to the Starfleet officers. Although an effective solution, the method was not without it���?�s costs as the colony and the planet were both destroyed in the process.
 
Luckily the away team were rescued just in time and returned to the Starbase. It was here that Captain Hebron personally asked Rocar to join him in permanent reassignment to the USS CONSTITUTION which they once again planned to take out on a mission of deep space exploration. Accepting, Rocar transferred out of Medical and accepted the position of Chief Science Officer and the rank of Lieutenant Commander.


Setting out on an exploratory mission of the Delta Quadrant the USS CONSTITUION left the Starbase and passed through the Sector 118 wormhole anomaly. Arriving on ���?the campsite planet��? the crew undertook some shoreleave time before the unexpected discovery of Borg activity in the region. This prompted a call-back of Capt.Y���?�Shirad by Starfleet command and Rocar was forced to step up as First Officer. In the job for barely a minute, Rocar and the ship found themselves trapped in an area of dead space and in combat with a Borg cube. Sacrificing the Saucer section to dispower the enemy vessel, the CONSTITUTION anaged to survive but badly damaged and reduced to minimum operating capacity. Rocar was therefore then sent with an away team to the recently discovered USS DEFIANT 1764 in an attempt to find an alternative power source for their ship which would allow it to break free of it entrapment in dead space.

Whilst onboard the USS DEFIANT 1764; Rocar team inadvertently triggered a temporal time loop by positioning a shuttle, the starship, a tractor beam and an energy transfer at the same points in subspace at three different points in time. The result was that the DEFIANT 1764 once again began to drift and Rocar, was lost in time with Ensign Dar. Luckilly, both he and the team mates on the shuttle calculated what had happened and soon repositioned everything to join up the energy transfer and complete the time loop.

Given a second chance, the team gather the energy manually whilst fighting off an encounter with the Borg. Rocar was forced to shoot a young Ensign who had been assimilated and although he knew it was the only humane and command solution at the time, the Ktarian still harbours great regrets. It was then that he discovered a chip in the back of the Borg drones���?� necks ���??similar to the corbarian punishment chip he���?�d had attatched to his nervous system. Ripping out the borg���?�s spine along with the chip he returned the finds to his lab on the CONSTITUTION for further examination in the hope of solving his problem ���??breaking free of his punishment.
 
Returning to the CONSTITUTION by shuttlecraft; Rocar finds the Captain missing ���??on a mission to the nearby Borg cube, then as the Borg cube exploded a shockwave hits the CONSTIUTION (further damaging the vessel which was scarred by entering the deadspace and lost it���?�s saucer section to the encounter with the Borg;) As Rocar was thrown to the deck with Gwen and the rest of the crew, he suddenly proposed to the Betazoid woman against the amazingly bright backdrop of the exploding Borg cube that had triggered of a chain reaction in a set of spatial threads. This massed explosion allowed for an opening in dead space and using the energy they had brought back from the DEFIANT 1764, Rocar ordered the ship out of the deadspace and back to safety.
 
Captain Hebron and his away team survived but were all ridden to sickbay, so it fell to Rocar to get what was left of the once powerful starship back home. Crossing the sector 118 wormhole anomaly was not easy; the route was far from calm and the shipâ�?��?�s beaten stardrive section took a further battering as she was flung out of the wormhole and did a double forward role, plummeting spectacularly into an asteroid field. This was in stark contrast to the CONSTITUTIONS torpedo salute departure from the Starbase earlier that year, and Rocar sat with shame in the command seat as the USS DOMINANCE, TIGER and PHOENIX-C came to their rescue and toed them home.  
 
the year 2381
 
Back on the Starbase shoreleave was announced; and Rocar spent the time buying new possession to replace those lost on the last mission. This included a brand new Ktarian grand piano! He then did some wedding planning with Gwen before they retreated for some private time on the Holodecks. Days latter they were interrupted as Rocar received a summons to a preliminary court-martial hearing for the loss of the CONSTITUTION.
 
In full dress uniform, Rocar and Hebron attended the hearing in front of three admirals and justified their choices on their last mission. Eventually aquited, the pair were given use of the experiemental ship USS DOMINANCE whilst the CONSTITUTION would spend the next 6 months being rebuilt. Rocarhad been dismissed from the end of the hearing and still wonder how Hebron managed to get them off the hook, but the Ktarian never did find out beause as he was about to ask over diner the captain received news that his wife was divorcing him.
 
As shoreleave came to an end; Rocar and the others reported to the USS DOMINANCE and they set out on their next mission. No sooner had they passed through the sector 118 wormhole anomaly did they come across a massive, abandoned and unusual carrier starship. Rocar lead an away team to the strange vessel; here, they soon discovered hundreds upon hundreds of sleeping refugees taken from all races for one pyurpose ���??use of their minds. Rocar recognised these very creatures from Ktarian legends as being soul collectors where as others felt they were better described as soul vampires. But the threat was clear. The Alien carrier ship had been seized by this race of telepathic energy beings who had been attracted to the ancient vessel due to the power source of trilithium which offered these being energy and sustanance. These beings had then travelled the galaxy, kidnapping individuals from each race they encountered and feeding off their minds.
 
Rocar was attacked by one of these energy beings; but his link with Gwen Hilzarie meant the strong telepath and Cura Assanti both managed to rescue him, despite being on different ships. Having only been half consumed the Ktarian then fell under the control of the telepathic beings. They did not have his mind, but they could control his actions. Before this could happen, Rocar���?�s team thought they���?�d killed the beings by ejecting and firing upon the alien ship���?�s unusual trilithium warpcore. As this happened the possessed minds of all the different sleeping races were freed and throughout the alien ship the sleeping victims of the creatures all awoke and chaos followed as the confused victims wondered where they were and what had happened. Rocar had them beamed to the USS DOMINANCE���?�s cargobays and then returned with the team.
 
All this would have workedâ�?�¦but the enemy creatures were not about to give up and instead, with the loss of the trilithium energy source, they were attracted to and made do with the DOMINANCEâ�?��?�s diltihium warp core. Since the telepathic beings were attracted to dilithium energy, the USS DOMINANCEâ�?��?�s resourceful engineering staff trapped the telepathic beings inside the warp core reactor. However, the creatures soon escaped this prison and spread throughout the ship by taking the memories of the shipâ�?��?�s bio-neural gel packs. They then seized the Ktarianâ�?��?�s mind, his body was trapped in the command chair and died as his psychological self and mind became one with the USS DOMINANCE.
 
At this point, Rocar���?�s being entered a new plain ���??essentially he was the starship; and yet under the control of the starship���?�s telepathic energy parasites he began to lock out the ship���?�s crew and began to work against his former friends and colleagues. Controlling all ship���?�s systems with a single thought, the Ktarian was at one with the starship and his presence was everywhere, yet his actions were under the control of the telepathic beings. He could erects forcefields to block security, use the EMH to attack others and ever control where the ship went all at a single thought. Being everywhere throughout the ship and having use of the internal sensors he knew all that was going on. But the telepaths onboard the ship���?�s crew joined together to reach the Ktarian, and although this was not enough to combat the enemy���?�s control, it did remind him who he was and as he discovered his Fiancee was pregnant with twins, Rocar���?�s psyche had a desire to once again be who he was and save the ship.
 
Rocar managed to take the same energy form as the being who had controlled him and purged himself out of the systems, ultimately sacrificing himself to save Ensign Yladro, by forming an energy cloud of himself infront of the ensign to save her from a phaser blast. This by all predictions would have been Rocar���?�s end; but by chance the bridge officer���?�s had chosen to rip the Ktarian���?�s dead body from the Command chair where it had been joint to the ship and the coma-like biological self had been left fallen on the deck. As the energy of Rocar���?�s psyche was hit byrt the phaser blast if fell into the deck and the mind���?�s energy dispersed until it was guided into the Ktarians former body, where mind, soul and corpse were once again rejoined.
 
Reuinited with himself; Rocar took some R and R time, but it soon became clear that the Ktarian was in better physical state that he had been before. Biologically his body was the most rested it had been in years; having essentially had a long sleep and rest, where as the mind was greater than it had ever been from the excperience. Feeling fine, Rocar went to the holodeck with Lt.Cmdr Sheriden and had had his first experience of earth football , and then organised a big party for all the crew in his quarters.
 
Wiser and relaxed; the Ktarian now knew he was to be a father with the woman he loved, but it also became clear that wrinkles were appearing round his eyes and his hair had begun to take a canon gray tint. Soon after the party, Rocar was not able to return to a quiet ship life when once again he found himself thrust into the command chair. This time the Captain had run away from the ship, having kidnapped three female officers in what was a Brikkar adolescence ritual. The irony of Rocar getting old whilst the CO he���?�d always called ���?the oldman��? entered puberty was not lost on the Ktarian but he could not laugh for long. Knowing the Captain was not in control of himself, Rocar was forced to take command.
 
Although slightly annoyed with the chief medical officer and counsellor for not warning him about the Captain sooner, Rocar devoted all his energies to getting the captain back. He dispatched away teams in three different shuttles; himself remaining on the USS DOMINANCE with two other officers. They needed to get the systems back online since Capt.Hebron had locked them out as part of his escape. During this time, Rocar dealt diplomatically with a group of Yukki who wanted to claim salvage rights of the Dominance under the quadrantâ�?��?�s interstellar laws. Rocarâ�?��?�s eventual solution was trick the chicken-like aliens into running away by telling them it was all a Corbarian test and the two approaching Corbarian war cruisers were coming after them. Although he had gotten rid of the relatively armless Yukki and engineering ahd returned all the shipâ�?��?�s systems to full operating capacity â�?��??Rocar still had a problem to deal withâ�?�¦ the two approaching Corbarian vessels that were not really after the Yukki but coming to confront the DOMINANCE.
 
When Rocar was a Lt.Jg; Cmdr Fire-claw had been CO of the DOMINANCE and warned never to return to Corbarian space with her starship. Although not in Corbarian space, they were close and their presence and identity had been recognised. A casual warning soon turned into a confrontation when the Corbarians recognised Rocar as one of their convicts; yet realised they had no readings from the punishment chip that should have been active in his nervous system. It soon became clear that the reason Rocar had been able to perform first aid to an injured officer and had not had any punishment nightmare visions recently was since the corbarian punishment chip had de-activated when the Ktarians mind had been seized by the telepathic beings and his body died. Eager to re-activate Rocar chip; the Ktarian was forced to use the DOMINANCE in a game of Cat and Mouse with the two Corbarian ships.
 
Splitting the vessel into three sections; they confronted the two ships, irritated them by flying in close on the attack and slowly lead them to a massive Ion storm which had been detected into the area; performing what could almost be text-booked as the Rocar manouever the three parts of the DOMINANCE tricked the Corbarians into being dragged down into the vicious Ion storm whilst they escaped, reformed and proceeded to a class-M planet in the next sector to pick up the away teams and the aprehended Brikkar; time was of the essence since the Ion storm was on a direct course for that location.


Seeing Hebron���?�s rejuvination in sickbay; Rocar finished up a few duties on the bridge, his last act as CO being to rescue a visiting Bajoran vessel with a religeous delegation that whished to come onboard the starfleet vessel and iscuss an issue involving one of their officers. Rocar agreed to let the deleggation onboard and then atteneded a memorable staff meeting where he transferred command back to Fleet Captain Hebron and was relieved to return to his position as First Officer ���??having received a promotion to full commander. He then began to introduce their next mission of chart gaseous anomalies and spatial ionide build-ups in the sector. After an hour of lecturing and boring the senior staff with science, he was interupted by a call from the bridge where they���?�d received a distress call from a Vemlin vessel trapped in the growing Ion storm

The Vemlin were rescued, but it turned out that they were a race of Android slaves belonging to the Landaru. One of the few on the Constitution who did not regard the androids as sentient life forms, the Vemlin request federation memvbership and a court hearing was held. During this hearing Rocar presented the case against the Vemlin. The matter was resolved a little backhandedly however, the Landaru tricked into thinking the Vemlin had been destroyed whilst they were secretly moved to settle on a small planet.

Returning to the Alpha Quadrant the crew transferred back to the newly rebuilt USS Constitution and proceeded to Betazed where Rocar and Gwen were married on stardate 238107.02 and latter that year their two children Xan and Cheliz were born.

PASSTIMES/ HOBBIES:  
 
One of Roar���?�s main hobbies is Cooking. His speciality being Ktarian Chocolate Puff with 17 different varieties of Chocolate. A corner of his personal quarters has been converted into a kitchen area, and Rocar tends to avoid using the replicator, enjoying a trip to the Starbases promenade to purchase genuine food ingredients from the many alien traders.
 
He also enjoys all forms of Skiing, is an avid rock climber and is a brilliant concert pianist. He had a Ktarian grand piano in his quarters on Starbase 118 and has won many prizes at Ktarian music festivals, though he never boasts of his musical ability. Playing the Ktarian Grand Piano is difficult since it has brown keys inserted between the black and white keys to play demi-semitones. He also interprets Bob Dylan songs on a Folk Guitar from Ktaria VII (with 9 Strings), something he started during his days as a medical student.
 
Before joining Starfleet Rocar was a leading bio-medical scientist on both Earth (under Dr. Mirzan) and at the Vulcan Science academy under Prof. Solvak. Rocar���?�s research interests line in inter-species compatibility and more recently in the failed Genesis Project which he one day hopes to relaunch as the Genesis Device Mark 2.
 
WORKING STYLE :  
 
Rocar is usually an optimist despite having a dread of certain situation. Rocar���?�s often tends to chuckle aloud to everything he finds amusing, no matter how grave the situation and his full blown laugh can echo out louder than even a Klingon. Being on duty does not stop him from being jovial. This usually raises a few eyebrows but fellow officers soon get used to it. Rocar is far from being a "by-the-book" officer, and has occasionally gotten himself into trouble with being to lax with protocol. The Ktarian prefers to get a job done properly, efficiently and quickly rather than doing things by sticking to the rules and he will ���?forget��? regulations and directives if they block him from doing something that he judges as being important.
 
When Rocar was a medical officer and then latter a science officer he was often found working in his own department in just his blue �?« under tunic �?» with his sleeves rolled up and his grey uniform jack hung up nearby, rather than sticking to full uniform. He was one of the few Starfleet officers to be seen walking round the corridors in just the blue top and com badge, but he always made an effort to always put the jacket on before entering a command area (such as an Ops centre or the bridge of a starship,) or joining an away team. He has a particular dislike for dress uniforms and prefers to addrss people by name rather than by rank or by title. In actual fact, the Ktarian hates wearing white and is adamant heâ�?��?�s never worn a dress uniform that has fitted properly. Those who work in the Ktarian�?´s department found him an easy leader to get along with, however he was often a thorn in the side of the command staff during staff meetings where he is unafraid to offer a differing opinion.
 
Then of course Rocar became command staff. As such he kept his usual jovial character, stuck to first names and was easy going with the other officers despite having high expectations. Keeping his firm dislike of dress uniform; he now wears full uniform on duty; though where others are often seen to pull down on their uniform top, Rocar is characterised by the way he unconsciously strokes his uniform collar when he thinks. Perhaps suggesting he is still not used to wearing the jacket! Whilst on difficult away missions when things go wrong, it is not unusual for the First Officer to end up being beamed back to the ship wearing just his red under top; once again with sleeves rolled up indicating that the jacket usually gets lost when on away missions where he���?�s not on show. After extreme combat situations the First Officer often ends up coming back to the starship in just his grey under vest.

Rear Admiral Rocar Drawoh is the diplomatic corps' current special envoy to the Ithassa Region where he is based aboard the area's Starfleet flagship USS Tiger-A under the command of Fleet Captain Sidney Riley. Prior to accepting his new Ambassadorial assignment Rocar had been living in retirement in a secluded mountainous area on Ktaria VII. During his earlier career in Starfleet, Rocar has been Commanding Officer of the USS Victory (2387), USS Eagle (2386~2387), Starbase 118 Operations (2384~2386), USS Constitution (2383~2384), and, also, Federation Ambassador to Duronis II (2381~2383).

Rocar Rock Climbing in the Holodeck

Rocar enjoys all forms of Skiing; particularly on the slopes of his homeworld of Ktaria VII. This was a hobby the Rocar practiced a lot when he was stationed at the Federation Embassy on the planet Duronis II.

Rocar has long been an avid rock climber. Even as a teenager when he got in to trouble for climbing a forbidden mountain on Vulcan. (see Rocar's teenage years article).Over the years he has continued to climb on away missions and for fun. Rocar was once taken to an American Football match in the holodeck by Lt.Cmdr. John Sheriden, but the Ktarian did not understand much about the terran's favourite sport. He is, however, always intrigued and eager to learn about alien culture's sporting practices.

At the Academy and as a junior officer Rocar was known to play racket ball, however, he has not played in recent years due to not having someone to play against. Rocar sometimes practices boxing and hand-to-hand combat with his Chief of Security Cyrus Webb. More regularly, however, he can be found working out (particularly on the weights) in the officer's gym between 16 hundred and 18 hundred hours every weekday; and can be found Rock Climbing on the holodeck every Saturday morning. When he meets up with the crew of the USS Constitution-B he always goes climbing with his former Historian & Archaelogical Officer Lt.Cmdr. T'Lea.

Musical Interests

Rocar is a brilliant concert pianist. He has a Ktarian grand piano which he's kept in his quarters on all of his assignments and has won prizes at Ktarian music festivals, though he never boasts of his musical ability. Playing the Ktarian Grand Piano is difficult since it has brown keys inserted between the black and white keys to play demi-semitones. Interestingly, he also has a small upright piano in the corner of his office which he uses to unwind between meetings. He also interprets old folk songs from around the Federation on an acoustic folk Guitar from Ktaria VII (with 9 Strings), something he started during his days as a medical student.

Rocar's Homemade Chocolate Puff Dessert

One of Rocar's main hobbies is Cooking. His speciality being Ktarian Chocolate Puff with 17 different varieties of Chocolate which he makes from his maternal grandmother's family recipe. Rocar has had a corner of his personal quarters converted into a kitchen area with special utensils. Most evenings. Rocar tends to avoid using the replicator: Instead, when he was stationed on Starbase 118 he used to enjoy a trip to the Starbase’s promenade where he likes to purchase genuine fresh food ingredients from the many alien traders. To Rocar this was one of the principal advantages to being assigned to a Starbase over a starship although when on a Starship he enjoys collecting unique ingredients from the planets they visit. When Rocar was assigned to Starbase 118 as Commanding Officer, Rocar has requested and procured a small allotment space in one of the Starbase's natural areas. Although he had never had any experience in gardening, he learnt to try growing fresh vegetables (with which to cook) on his lot. The Ktarian secretly used the allotment space as a quiet a peacful place which he would use to escape from the stresses and hassle of busy life (and his job) on the Starbase. When Rocar retired he settled on a small farmstead in the mountains on Ktaria VII where he kept a variety of animals and a vast allotment of home grown vegetables.

Scientific Interests

Before joining Starfleet Rocar was a junior bio-medical scientist on both Earth (under Dr. Mizan) and at the Vulcan Science academy under Prof. Solvak. Rocar's research interests began in inter-species compatibility and in the early years of his career tried to develop a Genesis Device Mark 2 which failed in the early stages of experimentation.

During the Dominion War Rocar was assigned to work on the Zerentares project at a penal colony near Betazed. The repercussions of which still haunt Rocar today. Several officers under Rocar's command have been suspicious or had raised interest given the Ktarian's reluctance to talk about what went on during the Zerentares project and it is clear to many that the Starfleet Captain still feels guilty today.

As an Ensign, Rocar helped find a cure for a Naeveus virus epidemic and as a Lt.Jg. on Starbase 118 Rocar discovered and experimented on an unusual substance known as Jytzell Fluid

  • 2345: Born on Ktaria VII
  • 2358: Moves to Cardassia
  • 2360: Moves to Vulcan
  • 2363: Studies Medicine at the Vulcan Science Academy
  • 2367: Sees survivors of Wolf 359; Decides to Join Starfleet. Becomes an insomniac.
  • 2368: Moves to Earth. Works as a Junior Diplomat for the Ktarians
  • 2371: Parents divorce, Mother leaves for Ktaria and Father for Vulcan. Now members of the Federation, Rocar returns to medicine and joins Starfleet Academy.
  • 2373-2375: Still a cadet, Rocar serves as a Field medic in the Dominion Wars.
  • 2376: First meets his Antican Fiancee who dies latter that year. Graduates from the Academy.
  • 2377: Ensign Rocar is assigned to the Diplomatic Corps where he works as a Starfleet Diplomat for the next two years.
  • 2379: Posted to STARBASE 118 and becomes romantically involved with Gwen Hilzarie.
  • 2380: re-assigned to the USS Constitution. Gets engaged to Gwen Hilzarie.

  • 2382: Rocar is promoted to Captain and once again reassigned to the Diplomatic Corps -this time heading up a Starfleet staff at the Duronis II Embassy.
  • 2383: In late 2383, Rocar is given command of the USS Constitution and assigned to a mission of space exploration.
  • 2384: In early 2384, Rocar is reassigned to his former home: Starbase 118. At this time he and Gwen Hilzarie seperate permanently. His two children go with their mother.
  • 2385: At the start of 2385 Rocar is promoted to Fleet Captain. Later that year he becomes a single parent as his twin children come to live with him after their mother is in an accident in an away mission to the planet SQ313
  • 2386: Rocar is promoted to Rear Admiral. He later accepts a special assignment on the USS Eagle.
  • 2387: Rocar briefly commands the USS Victory before going MIA on a mission with Starfleet intelligence. The Rear Admial retires from Starfleet Command shortly after and takes up a quiet life pursuing his hobbies on a small farmstead on Ktaria VII.
  • 2388: Following a lot of upheaval in the Ithassa Region (including a war with the Vaadwaur and a Romulan settlement, a lot of colonies that don't necessarily get along and the Gorn, Tholians, Grendellai, Free Trade Union, Tzenkethi, Constellationites) the Federation Diplomatic corps asked the retired Admiral to temporally give up his retirement and take on the role of Diplomatic Envoy to the volatile region. Rocar initially declined but was leaned on heavily to accept the assignment due to his past experience as an Ambassador in dangerous areas of space. Rocar eventually agreed, ironically, to get some peace from the bureaucrats who kept turning up on his farm and interrupting his hermitary lifestyle.

Working Areas

Rocar's Office

On many starships, a small office located directly adjacent to the bridge, where the commanding officer could work undisturbed. On an Intrepid Class starship, the door from the bridge lies between the Engineering station and the Tactical station. Standard features are a desk, a desktop viewer, a couch, and a food replicator terminal. Often the commanding officer will decorate their ready room with personal items to reflect their tastes. Secondary access opens to a short corridor which leads to a head and a turbolift elevator.
