Player achievements

Player achievements are OOC accolades that can be earned by players for completing IC or OOC objectives and challenges.

First developed and introduced for the USS Invicta by Rich (Roshanara Rahman) and Deliera (Tristam Core) in 2016, the original player achievement system has been implemented by the following ships:

USS Veritas

USS Montreal

USS Eagle

USS Gorkon

USS Invicta

In addition, the following two ships have developed their own set of player achievements:

• USS Columbia - Columbia Player Achievements
• USS Constitution-B - Constitution Player Achievements (Note: Not currently in use)

Achievement System Overview

Player achievements are OOC accolades awarded by the command staves of participating ships to their players. They are also used to track progress towards promotion.

Achievements are self-reported by players themselves to their respective command staff. If a player believes they have earned an achievement, they should notify their command staff by email and include the link to the supporting sim or documentation. Player achievements are tracked on a spreadsheet/leaderboard so that players can keep track of achievements they have earned.

Achievement Categories

Player achievements are divided into four categories:

• Tour of Duty Achievements
• General Achievements
• Duty Post Achievements
• Character Interaction Achievements

Tour of Duty Achievements

These achievements are required before advancement to the next rank.

Promotion to Lieutenant JG Promotion to Lieutenant JG Achievement Name Achievement Description Friends in high places Checked in with the Captain and the First Officer. Minion Checked in with your assigned department chief (if applicable) and made contact with your mentor in character. Can be used as a non-repeatable "contact" achievement for Tour of Duty promotion on the USS Gorkon. What's up, doc? Completed at least one medical checkup with a medical officer. Can be used as a non-repeatable "contact" achievement for Tour of Duty promotion on the USS Gorkon. Penny for your thoughts Attended at least one counseling session with a counselor. It's all in the details Completed a basic bio for your character on the wiki which includes at least the following items: Birthdate Birthplace A character overview of at least 3-4 sentences

Promotion to Lieutenant Promotion to Lieutenant Achievement Name Achievement Description Follow up appointment Completed at least one additional medical checkup with a medical officer since your last promotion. Can be used as a non-repeatable "contact" achievement for Tour of Duty promotion on the USS Gorkon. A head full of dreams Attended at least one additional counseling session with a counselor since your last promotion. Can be used as a non-repeatable "contact" achievement for Tour of Duty promotion on the USS Gorkon. A face for the name Added a portrait for your character, either provided by yourself or the Image Collective. Data hound Maintains a bio for your character on the wiki which includes all of the previous requirements as well as the additional following items: Accurately displays the character’s current rank and duty post A service history table that is up to date, showing previous ships, duty posts, and promotions. A relationships section that includes at least one other PC from your ship. Infomatic Completed the Lieutenant JG’s questionnaire.

Promotion to Lt. Commander Promotion to Lt. Commander Achievement Name Achievement Description Take a deep breath for me Completed at least one additional medical checkup with a medical officer since your last promotion. Can be used as a non-repeatable "contact" achievement for Tour of Duty promotion on the USS Gorkon. Speak your mind Attended at least one additional counseling session with a counselor since your last promotion. Can be used as a non-repeatable "contact" achievement for Tour of Duty promotion on the USS Gorkon. Man on a mission Played a mission-specific personal non-playing character (MSPNPC). Detail oriented Maintains a bio for your character on the wiki which includes all of the previous requirements as well as the additional following items: A section covering your character’s childhood/time before joining your ship A medical record A section covering your character’s time since joining your ship, including a description of your character’s participation in at least one mission Insightful Completed the Lieutenant’s questionnaire.

Nomination for Commander to the Captains Council Nomination for Commander to the Captains Council The commander’s promotion process which entails both a written exam and a practical exam can be long and challenging for candidates. Your command staff is dedicated to ensuring you will be well-prepared with the skills, knowledge, and support you need to successfully complete all components of the process and earn your promotion. Achievement Name Achievement Description Beam me down, Leana! Led at least two away teams. A-Okay Completed at least one additional medical checkup with a medical officer since your last promotion. Can be used as a non-repeatable "contact" achievement for Tour of Duty promotion on the USS Gorkon. It's on the house Attended at least one additional counseling session with a counselor since your last promotion. Can be used as a non-repeatable "contact" achievement for Tour of Duty promotion on the USS Gorkon. Two heads are better than one Participates in your ship's mentoring program. This is absolutely vital experience given that the Commander’s written exam heavily tests a candidate’s mentoring skills. Helping hand Participated in at least one OOC fleet taskforce. Participation/interaction with other players and particularly other fleet staff members beyond one's own ship and demonstration of a history of working well with others is important for a candidate to successfully have their nomination for commander approved by the Captains Council. Trailblazer Completed the Lt. Commander’s questionnaire.

General Achievements

These achievements are optional and are not required for promotion. They are given for IC and OOC challenges not specific to a particular duty post or character interaction.

Subspace Communicator Participate in an inter-ship joint post. News Hound Have a Federation News Service article published inspired by your ship's encounters or activities. Press F to Honor Be honored by one of your SIMs or contributions being posted in the Appreciations thread on the Forums. Chatterbox Participate in the monthly Fleet Chat. I think we're a clone now Managed to *somehow* acquire a clone. Or two. No pearly gates, only revolving doors Dead? Ha! Hit that reset button and come back for another round. Squeaky Clean You goofed! Scrub the plasma conduits or the Brig as punishment duty.

Duty Post Achievements

These achievements are optional and are not required for promotion. They are given for players that utilize qualities of a particular duty post.

Felt the weight of the Chain of Command by either making an impossible choice, plagued by terrible guilt, had an "It's all my fault!" moment, or been held accountable publicly. Event_Oriented Participated in a post-action debriefing with an intelligence officer or mission specialist. Can be used as a non-repeatable "contact" achievement for Tour of Duty promotion. I Cannot Make Bricks Without Clay Prepared a mission briefing or intelligence report for the wiki.

Operations Division Achievement Name Achievement Description Operations Division Rules of engagement Wrote a security/tactical “after action report” about a ship battle or hand-to-hand combat situation, with analysis, future recommendations, and conclusions, on the wiki. Case closed Help close a murder case. Arresting officer Arrest a party accused of wrong-doing. Gadgets and gizmos Created a new piece of equipment for regular use, or designed new technology. Reinventing the wheel Combined or re-engineered existing technology to serve a specific purpose. Well connected Joined the Engineer's Trading Post. Part of the team Participate in a mission as part of the Search and Rescue team. Red Shirt Shooting Club Undertook phaser or self-defence re-qualifications under security officer supervision. Can be used as a non-repeatable "contact" achievement for Tour of Duty promotion. Stone Eagle Participated in a protective escort mission. (General Order 15 exists, right?!) Can be used as a non-repeatable "contact" achievement for Tour of Duty promotion. Everyday I'm Shufflin' Participated in a damage control team drill under engineering officer supervision. Can be used as a non-repeatable "contact" achievement for Tour of Duty promotion. This is Not a Drill Participated in an emergency (fire, abandon ship, mass evacuation, etc) drill under operations officer supervision. Can be used as a non-repeatable "contact" achievement for Tour of Duty promotion. Elementary MacGyvering Side-stepped a crisis (such as a warp core breach, communications loss, etc) with a match, camera timer and Morse code. Or whatever.

Sciences Division Achievement Name Achievement Description Sciences Division Up for evaluation Provided a brief summary assessment that another player can include in their character's medical record on the wiki. Fascinating Created a Memory 118 entry on the wiki about a new discovery encountered during a mission. It's part of the job Treat a civilian or an officer’s injury during a mission. I'm in the Middle of Some Calibrations Undertook tricorder/sensor analysis refresher session under science officer supervision. Can be used as a non-repeatable "contact" achievement for Tour of Duty promotion. I See Trees of Phlebotinum Participated in a scientific examination of a specific subject (plant, animal, mineral, star, etc). Just don't touch it. Primum Nil Nocere Applied the principles of combat medicine during a conflict. Starfleet Combat Medicine Manual.

Character Interaction Achievements

These achievements are optional and are not required for promotion. They are awarded for interactions with specific characters and created by those characters' writers. Once you have reached the rank of lieutenant JG, you can create your own achievements that other players can earn from your character and submit them to the command crew to be added here.

The latinum-laced Kallo Ver set Achievement Name Achievement Description The latinum-laced Kallo Ver set My name is... Earned a nickname/mispronunciation of your name from Kallo Ver. Cory Stoyer Achievement Name Achievement Description Cory Stoyer Warp Core Moonshine Discover the still in Engineering and tap it with the help of the resident distiller.

Displaying Achievements

Each player achievement is awarded with an icon. They can be displayed wherever the player would like, such as on his/her user page, character’s bio, or forum signature. All icons are made by Freepik from www.flaticon.com.

To easily display a player achievement on the wiki, use the PA template by simply writing: {{PA|Name of the Achievement}}

Player achievements can be displayed on your character's sidebar, just like awards, service ribbons, and badges, using Template:Achievements Rack.
