The MORNINGSTAR is the first of the Ronin Class to be commissioned into Starfleet. The vessel was conceived and constructed at Utopia Planitia, Mars in early 2382. The name is as universal as the vessel. Meaning both the rising sun to start a new day, just as the concept was to start Starfleet's reemergence into exploration. It also means a weapon of the middle ages, a club with a spiked ball and or chain attached to it. The reliable weapon of that ancient time signifies the abilities of the Morningstar's class.

The USS Morningstar was commanded by Captain Christopher Hutton. The vessel was virtually untested in battle, but passed all its shakedown challenges with flying colors. Hutton and his crew had been given the unique opportunity to "write the book" on this vessel and make a name for both the Morningstar and the Ronin Class in the galaxy.

The USS Morningstar was decomissioned in April, 2006.
