The FTS K'tarn was captained by a really nasty Terran hybrid. His crew was... consigned, sort of. The captain had kidnapped the best crew he could find, forcing them to serve. They did not leave because the alternative was worse.

The K'tarn was hauling ore from Wheeler Colony that was refined and then sold to the Grendellai for their stealth technology. The K'tarn was equipped with an ion cannon of sorts and the Captain had some very nifty tricks for eluding whoever was pursuing him. He has been captaining for approximately 10 years in this region of space.
