Backstory/Timeline

D'Cyra of Varati (pronounced like "Syrah", the french grapes) was born on 237606.12 in Taggo-Lar on Orion (Volum/Rigel III) as third child of the Varati-Sinno family. Her mother's family were mostly merchants. There may have been links to the syndicate, but the family was always careful to remain neutral. The Varati family was also keen to remain neutral, as they had served as counsels to the most influential clans (Caju) for generations.

She grew up as the youngest daughter, her older brother followed in his father's footsteps early on as a lawyer, albeit for a company. She has a deep bond with her brother. On more than one occasion, he has used his skills to help her out of difficult situations that she didn't want her parents to know about.

Her older sister went her own way early on, too, and turned to art and later to education. D'Cyra was always impressed by how confidently she could get her way. Together they could turn the whole house upside down or, to their mother's despair, spend days exploring the woods around the village. Since then, she has been fascinated by exploring things and her surroundings and gathering as much information as possible.

As the youngest child, D'Cyra had almost complete freedom and admired the way her father, a diplomat, and her brother, a budding lawyer, managed their affairs. She wanted to follow in their footsteps and switched to the boarding school of administration & diplomacy at the age of 15. But far from home and her family, D'Cyra was not happy with bureaucracy and the fine art of diplomacy. So she dropped out of school shortly before her exams and joined a wild group of explorers and scientists at the age of 18 at Raang-Hoo on Botchok (Rigel VIII) instead. This was much more in keeping with her sense of freedom and her desire to explore the past and present world of Orion.

Unintentionally crossing paths with the syndicate was not a good idea, however. It was only thanks to her brother's interventions and her family's high reputation that they got away scot-free.

But she was smart enough to stay out of the line of fire. However, the desire to explore worlds remained. With the support of her family, she therefore decided to join the starfleet, but not before embarking on an extensive round trip from star to star.

D'Cyra entered the starfleet academy on 239610.01 and graduated on 240007.15. Four interesting years at the division of art & science at the academy. As an Orion, it had not always been easy for her after the fight against the syndicate. Silly remarks only came from the younger ones, the older officers, who were involved, never behaved negatively towards her.
