Lieutenant Junior Grade Maz Rodan is a Joined Trill serving as a junior Science Officer on the USS Arrow, currently exploring the Alpha Isles.

Enthusiastic and friendly, Maz is newly Joined Fifth Host of the Rodan Symbiont, and eager to see what life with a worm holds. Wise beyond his years, but still fun and playful, he's excited to see the galaxy with Starfleet and exert his new self.

	Personality

Maz Rodan is an enthusiastic and adventurous Trill. He loves exploring the universe and finds excitement in most things. He is bubbly and friendly, yet sometimes often self-reflective. Although he has been Joined for almost a year, he is still coming to terms with the 'new' Maz. He enjoys sports, particularly hockey, basketball and bowling, and has a strong liking for Earth rock and roll. He's a lot laid back than other Trill, and enjoys socializing.

The eldest son of a family of seemingly ordinary Trill, he opted to join Starfleet and see the galaxy rather than accept a position at the Trill Science Ministry. His father is curator at one of the largest museums in Mak'ala City and has an interest in history, while his mother is a high school teacher. His mother had strong reservations about his Joining, since Maz was the first of the Nevrons to be chosen to be an Initiate. She believes that after the Joining, Maz won't be the same son. The rest of his family were supportive of his Joining. His younger brother Alam is about to graduate high school.

Like most Trill, Maz is inherently bisexual, though has accepted that he is - and was before Joining - homosexual.

• Habits: Drumming fingers. Has seemingly bottomless pockets, and pulls out a myriad of strange things, but mostly carrot sticks and chocolate bars. When asked about this, he nonchalantly replies with "Don't worry about it".

  • Enjoys Earth music, such as jazz and rock and roll. He is attempting to learn to play the saxophone.

Shona Rodan First Host Joined initially in 2215, Rodan's First Host - Shona - was a Trill Senator known for her grit, temper and no-nonsense grandiose character. Never one to back down from an argument, her filibusters were almost legendary in the Senate. She was married, and had two children. She died of a heart attack at the age of 82 in 2279.

Zosha Rodan Second Host The Second Host for Rodan was Zosha, an actress famous on Trill for her dramatic performances. Poetic and lovely, she was adored by her fans and co-stars alike. She was engaged several times before marrying her husband. She had no children, and died in a yachting accident aged 38 in 2317.

Raffi Rodan Third Host The Third Host of Rodan, Raffi was an eccentric musician who enjoyed the music and culture of various Alpha and Beta Quadrant races. He picked up Shona's bad temper and penchant for arguments, and met his fate at the end of a dak'tagh in a Klingon dive bar in his late-forties in 2343.

Jareth Rodan Fourth Host Jareth was a noted Starfleet Officer. He served on several starships in his career and saw action in the Borg Invasion of 2373, and The Dominion War. While exploring uncharted space in 2397, Jareth was infected with a deadly and unknown disease, which proved terminally fatal. He requested to return to Trill to die, where he could meet the future Initiate to have the Rodan Symbiont, and pass along some advice. That Initiate was Maz.
