Officially, Vannix serves as an Executive Assistant within the Rogue Media division of Vananth-Polgonz' communications and marketing empire, however her roles and responsibilities often far exceed the magazine's typical day-to-day operations. She is responsible for coordinating Vananth-Polgonz' schedule, meetings, engagements, and monitoring Noble and Civilian channels for information which her employer may find relevant.
While Daughter Lohani is preoccupied with colony development efforts in the Delta Quadrant, Destre is representing her interests in the Alpha and Beta Quadrants - though the two remain in regular long-distance communication regarding objectives and priorities.
Originally studying Communications & Journalism at the University of Betazed's Medara campus, following the tragic destruction of her home city (Ohmallera) in 2388 and the sudden loss of her parents, Destre grappled with her future. She shifted majors, re-focusing on Political Science and minoring in Law. She graduated in 2392.
During these years, following the attack on Ohmallera, Vannix also affiliated with the fledgling pro-separation political activist group known as the Guardians of Betazed - though she had already left the organisation behind by 2397, when members of the group were implicated in terror attacks associated with the Maquis Reborn.
