Chief Medical Officer / Wannabe Daddy, USS Ronin

Beck and Alyndra have shared some intriguing conversations regarding Earth Literature. Although the difference in age isn't great, Quentin has shown himself to be an excellent father figure in Alyndra's life as well as her mentor. She values their relationship greatly and hopes to know him for many, many years to come.

Character Page Quentin Beck

Bestie and Roommate

Alyndra first met T'Fearne when she was awoken in the middle of the night, unaware that she shared quarters with the Vulcanoid woman. After being ambushed by a jacket (and a few pillows) a dialogue ensued, followed by friendship. On their adventures they've stolen a sofa, had a mini-break on Bajor (although don't ask about it) and even saving Christmas. They've evolved from roommates, into besties.

Character Page T’Fearne Elaazni

Wannabe Adopted Son

Dekas and Alyndra have been through a lot and "Trauma-Bonded" together since their first encounter on Deep Space Nine's promenade. From injury and a change in species on Bajor to holonovels and casual office chit-chat, Alyndra considers Dekas a true friend. A member of the family even, to the point it's a running gag between the two that Alyndra is secretly Dekas mother.

Character Page Dekas

Patient turned Friend

Whilst Alyndra and Sybils time together has been short thus far, somehow they've already managed to be airlocked by Captain Niac together.

Character Page Sybil Nemes

King of being Passive Aggressive

Alyndra and Tess met aboard the USS Ronin in the middle of the night when he decided to test the red alert speakers in her and T'Fearnes shared quarters. Afterwards, she invited him, along with some of her other friends to the holodeck for karaoke and games. After a series of events up to and including accidently flashing each other, she now considers him a friend.

Difficult Patient

Alyndra first met Dr Sadar on a routine sickbay shift in Deep Space Nine's infirmary. She was clearly tired and overworked, as she had appeared to have fallen asleep at her desk the night before. It shocked Alyndra to learn that Dr Sadar was on leave from the USS Artemis, when she learned of this (alongside not having a check-up since she was at the academy) Alyndra threatened to put Dr Sadar on medical leave until she got one. Much to her chagrin, she got a check-up there and then. Following which Alyndra asked her to keep a better work/life balance and gave her one of the first Barbie Syrex's from Alyndra's Toy Store

Character Page Gila Sadar

Academy Friend

Alyndra met Leenaya Edrei during the final exam at the academy, where they were both assigned medical officers. They were the only cadets to graduate from their class, and although they were assigned to different ships, Alyndra fondly recalls her time with Edrei and hopes they will serve together in the future.

Background

Alyndra Syrex was born on Trill (Trillius Prime, Alpha Quadrant) in 2375 as the second child of Norala and Revok Syrex, arriving after her older brother Voren Syrex. Norala, her mother, dedicated herself to educating at the symbiosis commission, while Revok, her father, pursued a career in designing new computer systems for the same organisation.

Three years after Alyndra's birth, her sister Tessa Syrex joined the family. Shortly after, her parents opened their hearts and home to a Bajoran orphan named Topa. Despite being adopted, Alyndra never viewed Topa as anything other than a cherished family member, hardly recognising any differences between them and the native Trill.

Her upbringing was focused on logic, the sciences, and the Trill philosophy of treating oneself and one's body with the respect given to others. With both of her parents working at the symbiosis commission she was raised to respect and admire the symbionts, growing to know that one day she would wish to join, she just wanted to offer the symbiont an interesting and unique experience. However seeing so many accomplished Trill took a toll on her self-image, her parents not helping by being extremely dismissive of her feelings.

One of the defining moments when she knew she wanted to join Starfleet was during a family “Cultural Excursion” in San Francisco when she was still a child. During this trip, she witnessed a Denobulan fall seriously ill near the harbour Alyndra wanted to help them but didn’t know how. Until she saw a few well-dressed people (who she later learned were students at Starfleet Academy) leap into action running towards and treating them. The way they co-ordinated themselves was hypnotic, she knew that that was how she could make a difference. When she returned to Trill, she began volunteering at the Symbiosis Commission to educate herself to the point where she felt ready and was old enough to complete her first degree in Biomedical science on Trill to enable her to study medicine at Starfleet Academy on Earth. Whilst completing her degree on Trill, she applied to receive a symbiont, she had completed most of the demanding process by mid-2396. The last step in her journey to becoming joined is an official recommendation from a Field docent, which she has yet to receive as she left for Starfleet Academy on Earth.

Trill Symbiosis

Joining status: Awaiting Report from Field Docent, all other training completed in 2395.

Hobbies and Interests

After receiving a holodeck programme of a Nebraskan bar in lieu of Latinum, Alyndra discovered a joy in singing.

Alyndra also occasionally commits the occasional crime, but always (usually) for a morally good reason.

Alyndra's available on Starflirt.

Career History

Degrees:

Undergraduate: Natural Sciences (Taken on Trill)

Postgraduate: Medicine with a Minor in Helm/Navigation

Academic Transcript: Alyndra Syrex

During Alyndras’ time at the academy, she both trained and volunteered in the children’s section of the training hospital. She got the experience of treating a wide number of different species as well as developing a reputation for a great bedside manner. She also took advantage of being a Trill, by getting her nervous patients to count the spots on her head whilst they were being treated. Many of these patients were children, thus Alyndra became a young prodigy within her placement hospital in paediatrics.

She also made a handful of friends at the academy, one of whom included Theodore Jameson, whom she met in her classes and would take the final exam together, however he did not pass first time. Eventually, Theodore revealed to Alyndra that he had spend some time as a youth on Trill studying Xenobiology. For her birthday she was gifted one of his field notebooks, giving great detail into the fauna of the planet. Alyndra was promoted to ensign without him, as he failed his last exam on Starbase 118. Without Alyndra to help him through the academy, he dropped out, he has yet to return, both to the academy and Alyndra's life.

She also made great friends with her academy roommate, a Vulcan woman called T'Lynara, whom Alyndra affectionally referred to as Delta.

One of her friends from her training cruise was Leenaya Edrei, whom was soon transferred to the USS Chin'toka as a medical officer. Alyndra hopes to work with her again someday, but under the right circumstances.

She also found an appreciation for the freedom of flight, specifically after taking a day trip to the Air and Space Museum in Washington D.C and discovering the story of Amelia Earhart and how she beat the odds by proving that women could fly planes too in a part of Earth’s History that seemed so archaic. So, in her off time, she began to train and eventually received a minor in Helm/Navigation.

Alyndra's current medical speciality and research can be found in the Starfleet Medical Directory.

As part of her work in paediatrics, she has made a series of toys for her patients. If asked she will distribute them to her adult patients as-well. Find Alyndra's complete toy store HERE.

Shoreleave: Deep Space Thirty-Three (-SD 240108.03)

Alyndra arrives on Board the Ronin via shuttlecraft towards the end of the crew's shore leave. Before the Ronin departs however, she is able to meet a few members of the crew, including: Captain Niac, Acting CMO Lt JG Quentin Beck and Security officer/roommate Ensign T'Fearne.

Stand Off (SD 240108.03 - SD 240109.18)

The Ronin engages in a tense game of cat and mouse with the Lattice Alliance. With the support of the Khitomer and the Excalibur-A, the crew ultimately wins the battle, but the victory comes at a heavy cost. During the conflict, Alyndra is ambushed by a rogue changeling, leaving her shaken but determined.

Mid-way through the battle, Chief Science Officer Lt. Commander Alieth enlists Alyndra for an urgent away mission. Joined by Lt. Raidai and Lt. Lorana, the team boards the Rhine, bound for a seemingly abandoned Lattice Alliance structure.

As they explore, the team uncovers a startling discovery: a Trill symbiont, long thought lost to time—Salix. The Lattice Alliance had been exploiting the symbiont to extract information about Sencha radiation. With the clock ticking, the team scrambles to rescue Salix and make contact through a joined Trill, T'anara Vylax.

With Salix liberated; the Ronin and the Khitomer heavily damaged and towed by several California-class ships, they head to Deep Space 9 for much-needed repairs.

Shoreleave: Deep Space Nine (SD 240109.18 - SD 240111.14)

This shore leave was a busy and long time for Alyndra, as the Ronin was disembarked, stuck in drydock for repairs.

  • She had a counselling session with Ensign Haydd
  • Was drugged out of her mind into thinking she had turned into a racoon with Lt JG Quentin Beck and Lt Cmdr Talia Ohnari
  • Got security clearance and went singing with Lt Cmdr Kirsty Lee Carpenter
  • Stole a sofa with Ensign T’Fearne Elaazni
  • Threatened Senior Officer Lt Gila Sadar with medical treatment
  • Went pillow shopping with Lt Cmdr Dekas
  • Had an awkward tea, and rafting session with Lt Luxa Lorana

Things Lost in Time (SD 240111.14 - SD 240201.18)

With the USS Ronin still under repairs on Deep Space Nine, the Crew takes shuttles down to the surface of Bajor to assist the Bajorians in the search and rescue of two missing researchers at the dig site of the lost ancient city of B'hala. Split into teams racing to save the lives of the researchers (and to be invited to a massive, yet highly exclusive pizza party), Alyndra is placed on a team with the marvellous Dekas, the Brilliant Marty Tucker and the illustrious Kirsty Lee Carpenter. Together they all ventured deep into the city, where they were hunted down by a team of archers (who were potentially from the future, or the past...). The archers were revealed to be Bajorans, concerned with the "loop". They summoned a "water portal" which sent the gang backwards in time, where they all seemed to have been turned into Bajorans.

During this travel, Alyndra talked with who she believes are the Prophets of Bajor, who take the appearance of two old friends, who warn her about changes to her existence as she knows it in the coming days. During this consultation, there is a lone figure in the distance, who's identity is currently unknown to Alyndra.

Alyndra wakes up as a Bajoran in a wooden cart, full of onions and seemly part of a large caravan, as light Cardassian crafts fly overhead. She wonders if she has been transported to the early days of the Bajoran occupation.

After finding herself alone, as a Bajoran in the ancient past. She manages to regroup with her team, who eventually find Akorem Laan, an infamous poet for the era. After some bickering they are interrupted violently by a Kosst Amojan solider. In the resulting firefight, Alyndra loses her eye. After a heavy amount of bloodloss and escaping through a tunnel, they make their way to an abandoned looking tavern. Alyndra searches for something to steralise her wound and help heal her teammates. Just as this search happens, a familar (yet older) looking Bajoran bow-woman marches in claiming to be "Okko Ame of the Ordos Maquis" claiming to represent the Bajo-Cardassian Union. Ordering the five of them to turn themselves in to be removed from the pah-wraith oriented timeline.

With the timelines potential spinning out of control and the deadline approaching the team races back to the workshop through a tunnel concealed behind a small pseudo-dumbwaiter discovered by Alyndra. Readying the lightship and after a few slips and slides from Alyndra, the team follows Akorem Laan in his ship through the wormhole. Alyndra encounters the prophets once again, before waking up in the future as a Trill, but still having lost her eye.

Shoreleave: USS Ronin (SD 240201.17 - SD 240203.27)

With the USS Ronin officially repaired, the crew takes some much needed R&R onboard as it warps back towards the Alpha Isles.

Alyndra's Hijinks this shore-leave included:

  • Had a Holodeck adventure with Dekas which slowly turned into therapy, for both of them.
  • Gave Rachael Morgan a check-up, banning her from extra shifts and replicating a sign to stop people from inviting Alyndra to the bar.
  • Helped most of the ships complement clean up a biohazard from the Ronin's fishy friend.
  • Got stuck in a bin, getting rescued through the power of song (with a hand from Ava Munro).
  • Got bullied along with the Bajor team (Kirsty Lee Carpenter, Marty Tucker and Dekas) for messing in temporal affairs
  • Played a game of catch in her old childhood play area with Quentin Beck

The Soliton Express (SD 240203.27 - SD 2402XX.XX)

Only seconds after being promoted to Lt JG, the USS Ronin receives a distress call informing them that a interstellar train has lost control and is hurtling towards an inhabited planet.

Shoreleave: Risa (April - May 2402)

Alyndra's late night PADD browsing led her to an amazing idea, in which she wouldn't need to take any medical leave for the grievance of her eye. Seeing the USS Artemis-A was currently in orbit over Risa, the perfect place for a working "Holiday".

It didn't quite go as she expected however, meeting the colourful bunch of characters who crewed the vessel.
