This entry describes the official duties of the positions at StarBase 118 Operations. These are guidelines to help Starfleet personnel understand their basic duties while serving Starbase 118.
Command Department:

Description:
The Command Section, also known as the "Towers" is the highest module of the base, and serve a wide range of purposes. The Operations Command Center, known to many simply as Ops, can be seen in the Command Section as well, and is where the section gets it's name. This six deck area is shaped like a round tablet, and functions as the main nerve center of the starbase.
Counseling Department:

Description:
The counseling department is responsible for the mental health of StarBase 118, both Starfleet and civilian personnel. The counseling staff is made up of a wide variety of psychologists and psychiatrists that are capable of handling the needs of many different Federation and non-Federation members' psychological needs. A counseling suite is located within the command towers of StarBase 118 Operations. Counseling would also have contact with the diplomatic staff who would provide research and cultural insights/information about a certain topic or race.
Operations Department:

Lieutenant Drake Barlow
Description:
1. Station Operations - will be responsible for managing the officers who staff the command center as well as othe issues such as computer resources, long range sensors and internal communications, etc. 2. Fleet Operations - will handle the routing of ships who are assigned to the StarBase, as well as other Starfleet vessels on their way to other locations within the 118 sector and beyond.
HCO Department:

Description:
1. Flight Control - The HCO will coordinate with all civilian and non-starfleet ships moving in and out of the immediate area of the base. 2. External Communications - The HCO will deal with almost all of the communications from ships assigned to StarBase 118, as well as communications which pass through the relays to places within and without the 118 sector.
Tactical Department:

Lieutenant Commander Zubowskivich
Description:
1. Tactical is responsible for the safety and well-being of the starbase itself through use of neccesary force to counter any external threats. 2. Tactical is also responsible for maintaining the various armories throughout the starbase and keeping an inventory of all handheld phasers and other weapons. 3. The tactical chief will also manage the fighter wings that will be assigned to protect the base.
Station Security Department:

Description:
Security is responsible for the provision of security around the base and key areas in times of tactical alert. Security will also keep civilian order, instruct visitors about the station's usual regulations and see they are kept.
Medical Department:

Doctor Franks
Description:
Medical oversees the health and general well-being of all inhabitants of the base, not generally including those officers housed on ships docked at the base. Coordinates with the head station counselor as well.
Engineering Department:

Lieutenant Commander Anderson
Description:
Engineering deals with the resourcing of internal power sources, maintaining computer functions, schedules of maintenence to all of the starbases internal systems. Engineering also coordinates with incoming starships on their repair schedules and is responsible for the upkeep of StarBase assigned starships, shuttlecrafts, and runabouts.
Science Department:

Description:
Science is responsible for maintaining a variety of ongoing projects at StarBase 118. They will from time to time coordinate with incoming starships on their latest scientific findings. The science department is responsible for observations, research, and experiments in any of the sciences, including mathematics, statistics, physics (physical and temporal), chemistry, botany, zoology, geology, cosmology, and others. The science department has some overlap with the medical department in terms of microbiology, xenobiology, forensics, and life sciences.
