A common sight along the spacelanes and in the ports of the Federation (and other regions), these vessels consisted of a central shaft about thirty meters long, with two flat, aft-curving nacelle pylons projecting from the port and starboard sides of the shaft's forward end. It was commonly used by free traders, small merchant firms, and the like.

Noteworhty Vessels/service records/encounters:

• Merchantman: used by the Klingon spy *Valkris to deliver information to Commander Kruge regarding the Genesis "torpedo," then destroyed by Kruge because she'd read the plans for the device (2284).
