Also, in regards to counselors and which part of the academy they graduate from, based on Counselor Troi's history, counselors graduate from the larger sciences division of the academy rather than the Starfleet Medical Academy that for instance Julian Bashir graduated from and major in psychology, which would be a department within the larger sciences division as seen with most universities today. The fact that counselors would then wear teal upon graduation shouldn't be an issue just as paramedics who also wear teal would not have gone to Starfleet Medical Academy either.
(Of course in reality or rather canon that is, both sciences and medical divisions should be wearing the same color as there is really no separate medical division in canon. Bones wore the same sciences insignia as Spock in the original series and Crusher and Troi wore the same blue color in TNG just as Jadzia Dax wore the same teal color as Bashir. Regardless, we seem to have arbitrarily created this separation for SB118 and it appears to have been in practice for a while now, so ah well...) –Rich(talk page) aka Lt.Cmdr. :I agree with your reasoning. In the US military, for instance, the health sciences university is the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, of which the military's medical school is just one part of in addition to nursing schools and graduate schools that offer clinical psychology degrees. Since we're creating our own canon (or as I like to think of it, "filling in the gaps" ;D ), how about I create a new "Division of Health Sciences" and make the Starfleet Medical Academy just one part of it in addition to a nursing school and counseling program, etc. That certainly could also help explain why Bashir mentions attending the Starfleet Medical Academy but Crusher's data file simply listed that she attended plain ol' "Starfleet Academy" from 2342 to 2350. –Rich(talk page) aka Lt.Cmdr. I won't revert it but I'd made the link "Indy-A" instead of "Independence-A" on the Euphrates nav menu as the full ship name is so wide that it leaves white blocks each side of the pic above. - Lt.JG SalakTalk 13:22, 16 November 2007 (CST)

Just bringing Talk:USS Independence-A Master Crew List to your attention. Oh, and I reverted your edit to the table width on the staff roster as I'm using 1024px wide screen res and the tables still clashed into the nav menu. - Lt. SalakTalk 02:43, 29 January 2008 (CST)

The Node article

We already have this (note "decks 5-7" listed). Is The Node different? --Wolf /talk page 15:56, 6 September 2008 (EDT)

Job Description

Mar couldn't think of anything so she stuck that on. She hasn't given me an official job title yet. *wry smile* DCody 22:51, 20 January 2009 (EST)

Parody

It should be fine. :) It's a wiki, so I'll just revert it when I get up tomorrow. Thanks for pointing it out though! On reflection, I probably should have made a new page, but eh... --AlleranTan 15:56, 1 April 2011 (UTC)

Quinn Nav Template

Hi, Emma! Saw your new template, and I'm guessing you must have a large monitor at home 'cause it's overflowing on my iPad display. If you set the bookend images to 200px and the middle awards image to a height of 200px, then it fits on the smaller display as below:

QUINN REYNOLDS
Quinn (Square Crop).jpg Quinn Awards.png GarudaLargeLogo.png

PERSONALITY ·  FAMILY ·  CAREER PROFILE ·  BIOGRAPHY ·  PERSONNEL FILE

I also changed in the above example the blue links to yellow as it seems to fit in my eye better for Quinn, but anyway, feel free to use the above code or not at all. Happy New Year!–Rich(talk page) aka Lt.Cmdr. Rahman/MCpt. Kadosh 17:30, 28 December 2013 (CST)

New Garuda Template

I've converted our crew nav to a new "Easy Template" version. Full instructions are available here: Template:Crew.

Among the New Features:

Simplified format to add officers

No more messy code! Makes it easier to edit position names and preview them to see if they fit correctly!

For example, just add:

to get the next officer's tile added to the nav.

JaxxSmall.jpg
Commanding Officer
Andrus Jaxx

IMPORTANT NOTE

If an officer only has a single name, be sure to still put an extra "pipe" character | after their name.

|
Roster-meikonda.jpg
Chief of Operations
Mei'konda

Automatic placement of blank portrait

Places the blank portrait roster image if no roster image specified. Example:

Roster-blank.jpg
Science Officer
M'Wash

Automatic resize of roster image

If an officer's roster image is too large for the nav, it will automatically crop and resize it to fit. Note that while this is a handy feature, it may not produce as nice an image as a properly prepared roster image.

Jaxxhorse.jpg
Commanding Officer
Andrus Jaxx

Support for Nicknames/Abbreviations

If an officer's name is too long for the nav. Example:

Roster-eganmanno.jpg
Commanding Officer
C. Egan Manno

Simplified color names

Red, Gold, Blue, Teal, Violet, Black, Silver, Green

No need to change colspan

Table automatically keeps header and footer centered.

Ship placeholder image

Can be easily specified if there is an odd number of officers.

DS9style pips for roster

This functionality has now been added, and the Garuda's roster page switched over to DS9style pips. Check Template:Roster for instructions, but basically, just add STYLE=DS9 to the end of each over you want in that style. –Rich(talk page) aka Lt.Cmdr. Rahman 04:30, 30 January 2014 (CST)

NEW UPDATE! User Correctioning of Automatic Resize and Crop

You can now tell the template to zoom into your image and change positioning! Check out the image guide for the roster template as the basic principle is the same. Just add the extra numbers for your corrections to the end of the officer's code, with the first number being how far you want the image to move up (i.e., how far do you want to see more downward), the second number being how far to move the image left (see more to the right), and the third number being how many times to zoom the image. 1.2x is a good place to start.

Example Original:

Intelligence Officer
Tracey Townson

Raw code for corrections:
