Hermes Station is located in a small system about thirty light years from Cait. It had some fixed weapons that were destroyed in the initial attack. The '''station is mostly ground-based''' on the only M-class planet in the system. Features include the central structure, a large communications array, and several orbital telescopes and sensor platforms. The station is a communications hub for the Marchlands and surrounding areas, that helped coordinate activities across the southern sectors of the Federation. Its sensors also allow for large amounts of data gathering for both scientific and intelligence purposes. With close proximity to a Federation world and the Tholians typically avoiding that section of the border, the station has been assigned a very limited on-site presence for some time.
