Personal History

T’Venna had a content and pleasant early childhood on Vulcan. Her mother, a long haul freighter captain was rarely home for long, and so it fell to her father Sevak to raise her. He was a generous and thoughtful parent, instilling in his only daughter a sense of curiosity and wonder. Her earliest memories are of sitting on his knee to see over the desk, learning all the foundations of science, medicine, engineering, and culture.

Until one day, very suddenly when she was only ten years old, her father died, an apparent suicide, relating to complications surrounding Pon Farr while her mother was delayed off world. T’Venna was with her extended family during that time, and the shock hit the young Vulcan hard. To this day she involuntarily recalls the precious moments she shared with him - a hangover of physical intimacy between touch telepaths. The inability for her to control when she vividly remembers her father is a source of great annoyance for her, but not one she has sought treatment for.

T’Ara rarely spoke about the tragedy, and it caused something of a shock in the immediate community around them given the salacious nature of Shivok's sudden death. She immediately removed her daughter from life on Vulcan and continued her studies aboard the Evoras. Eventually T’Venna would join the crew as a fully fledged officer in her own right.

From the first day she was allowed to take the helm, T’Venna knew she loved to fly. There was something about the rapid fire mental calculations involved in fast-pace maneuvering that always quieted the chance of stopping to remember things she didn’t want to. To an outside perspective her flying could appear reckless and dare-devil, but T’Venna never took a chance without calculating as many outcomes as possible.

Her mother recognised at this stage that her daughter had outgrown life aboard the Evoras and urged her to join Starfleet. T’Venna, who since the death of her father was very close to her mother, initially resisted. But in the end she was too tempted by her sense of wonder in the galaxy, and her desire to achieve more with her life.

During her time at the Academy, T’Venna did not easily make friends. She found she had little in common with the Vulcans in her classes, who had a broader shared experience of schooling on Vulcan. Yet she still found limited to connect her to the non-Vulcans alike. Instead she threw herself into her studies, excelling at Piloting, combat piloting, and Astrogation.
