Lieutenant T'Ama is currently serving as the Chief of Operations aboard the USS Chin'toka. She formerly served as Assistant Chief of Operations and as an Operations Officer on the USS Constitution-B.

T'Ama on vacation.

Appearance

  • Height: 5' 6"
  • Hair: dark brown, wavy
  • Eyes: light blue, right eye is cybernetic and doesn't quite match.
  • Appearance: T'Ama looks fully Vulcan on the surface - she has the typical pointed ears, slanted eyebrows, and green blood. She wears her hair loose most of the time.

Background

T'Ama was the product of an unexpected pon farr when her mother was serving on board her father's mining vessel in deep space. Her mother returned to Vulcan during the pregnancy and she was born and raised on Vulcan for her early childhood and teen years. Her parent's co-parenting relationship was contentious, and her mother was often the victor in their disagreements on how to raise their daughter, if only because Gavin was usually off-world and not physically there much. She chafed at her restrictive Vulcan upbringing, made worse by the fact she was not pure Vulcan and not well accepted amongst her mother's family. As a result she was much closer to her father and treasured his visits and frequent video calls.

Her Vulcan family considered her a difficult and rebellious child, which became more intense when her mother and step-father had her younger brother. By the time she was 15 tensions at home were so high she begged to be allowed to go live with her father. Eventually she got her wish with no small amount of drama, and went to live with her father as a civilian aboard a Federation ship where she met her grandmother for the first time - a retired admiral who had served in Starfleet just after the Federation was founded. She immediately found a role model in her grandmother and her stories of adventure in Starfleet, and decided she wanted nothing more than to join Starfleet and follow in her grandmother's footsteps.

In early 2394 she met Quentin Beck at a mining trade conference on Earth that their fathers had business at. She pulled him away from his abusive father and they spent the conference becoming fast friends. She shared her dream of a Starfleet career and he joined up that fall, though it took her until 2396 to work up the nerve to do so herself. They were best friends at the Academy until they tried their hand at romance. Their first kiss abruptly ended with her pushing him away because she had seen how he'd built up their relationship in his mind. With little explanation she avoided him until she graduated and was stationed on the USS Constitution.

USS Ronin (Shore Leave)

In early 2401, T'Ama was invited to the wedding of Is’Kah and Ghee’looth Xiron, friends from the Academy, on the USS Ronin. Quentin Beck crashed the bachelorette party on Ferenginar, half naked and pursued by Ferengi bounty hunters. T'Ama lead the group to her El-Aurian family's safehouse and helped him make a subspace call to his father to clear the bounty. Later he came by her guest quarters on the Ronin and they made up, agreeing to be just friends, after two years of estrangement. Before leaving to return to the Constitution, T'Ama was partially responsible for the break up of Quentin Beck and Luxa Lorana after her attempt at wingmanning went horribly wrong.

Eye Injury

While planetside during an away mission on Drever IV, T'Ama was hit in the right eye by a large piece of hail. Despite treatment it continued to be painful, sensitive to bright lights, and produced double vision and subsequently chronic headaches when uncovered. T'Ama took to covering it with an eyepatch while on duty despite the danger of atrophy to the optic nerve. Later on Frontier Day her eye was shot out by her CO Commander Serala in the initial moments of assimilation and the battle for the Chin'toka's bridge. She sustained significant phaser burns to the face and her eye was destroyed.

USS Artemis (Frontier Day)

In mid 2401 T'Ama was assigned to the USS Artemis for Frontier Day, where she ran into her old friend Quentin Beck again, also on temporary assignment from the Ronin. The Artemis' long range communications relay was sabotaged just as they discovered a Borg Cube hiding out in the Badlands. Quentin was sent to the Cube, and T'Ama was ordered to remain on the bridge and monitor the away team. After logically concluding the saboteurs were Changelings, T'Ama and the Artemis' Chief Tactical Officer (and massive flirt) Lieutenant Vitor Silveira were sent to apprehend it at its last known location: a Jefferies tube on Deck 13. After initially evading detection, the Changeling attacked, dragging T'Ama back into the tube. Silveira came to her rescue and the Changeling shifted into the shape of a Gorn. After kicking the Changeling Gorn off Silveira and stunning it with a phaser, they removed it from the Jefferies tube and stuffed it into a Tupperware container before it could completely liquefy. They are called back to the bridge by Lt. Commander Talos Dakora for ship combat with the Borg Cube. Combat ensued between the Borg Cube and the heavily outgunned Artemis until the away teams disabled the shields and the Artemis was flown partially into a hole in the Cube to allow T'Ama to rescue both away teams as theirs had almost doubled due to a team from Amity Outpost appearing on the Cube. The Cube went to transwarp nearly destroying the Artemis in the process. The mission then became one of warning Starfleet and getting to Sector 001 as quickly as possible. T'Ama suggested they cannibalize the parts from the science probes and shuttles to build a new communications array, but for whatever reason the warning did not get out in time.

Transfer to USS Chin'toka (Frontier Day)

Upon the Artemis reaching the Sol system, T'Ama was transferre the USS Chin'toka under the command of Commander Serala. The Chin'toka was in spacedock after a refit, and Commander Serala had orders to steal it in order to help against the Borg and Changeling threat. In the few minutes they had to prepare to launch the ship, T'Ama ensured that the Fleet Formation software was not installed. Two minutes after clearing the dock the Borg signal that assimilated young officers with the genetic sequencing added by the transporters started and T'Ama was immediately assimilated into the Borg Collective and given the designation Three of Twelve. Three of Twelve's first act was to shoot the highest value target on the bridge: the heavily pregnant Serala who promptly shot her back and destroyed her right eye, burning half her face in the process. Three of Twelve arose from this wound and started the download and installation of the Fleet Formation software using T'Ama's authorization code. This was immediately shut down by Serala and Three of Twelve an the rest of the assimilated crew were beamed to the Brig. Three of Twelve, still in possession of the type 2 phaser T'Ama was given on the Artemis, destroyed the walls of the Brig and freed the Borg who immediately headed towards the armory in the Security Complex. Security officers retreated into the armory when they discovered that Captain Serala had deactivated all phasers assigned to the Chin'toka. Three of Twelve's phaser, however, still worked as it was from the Artemis, making her the deadliest Borg on the ship. After determining that the armory was no longer a valuable target, Three of Twelve destroyed the door panel, trapping the Security officers in the armory, and led the Borg towards Main Engineering. Outside Main Engineering the group of rapidly unassimilating Borg run into Lt. Commander Tai Ilsam who draw's Three of Twelve's fire. However she is rapidly attacked by Is’Kah who bites her shoulder to the bone and then taunts her about her alleged romantic interest in Quentin Beck, enraging the Vulcan hybrid, partially disrupting her connection to the Collective, and earning Is'Kah a jaw dislocating slap for her impertinence. Commander Ilsam saves Is'Kah from pestoification by nerve pinching T'Ama and bringing her to Sickbay for treatment. Once in Sickbay T'Ama is given painkillers that make her very high and starts singing before sedatives make her pass out. She awakens to smoke as the door to Sickbay is consumed in a plasma fire. Suddenly very sober, she finds a fire extinguisher and summons damage control teams. She evacuates with everyone else to Ward 2 where Dr. Edrei continues treating her wounds. Dr. Doucet then moves her to a temporary ward made from the holodeck, but she sneaks away to watch the battle for Earth out of the Observation Lounge windows and wait for death, which never comes.

Shore Leave on Earth

In the aftermath of Frontier Day, the USS Chin'toka goes back into dry dock for repairs again and the crew takes some much needed time to rest and recover on Earth. But all is not sunshine and rainbows. Between the hikes to Machu Picchu and trips to Ireland interrupted by Exocomps pretending to be banshees to terrify the locals, there is still a ton of work to be done for the Acting Chief of Operations to get the ship ready - there's a cargo bay to convert into a new Main Operations Center, in addition to Commander Serala's wedding to plan in just two short weeks. T'Ama also had her right eye replaced with a cybernetic and attended mandated therapy. The most troubling incident, however, was the mob of Security crew who decided to form a lynch mob under the influence of Orion pheromones and attempted to kill T'Ama in the shuttle bay simply because she had been assimilated by the Borg. Despite this she was promoted to full Lieutenant and made the official Chief of Operations.

Awards General Tosma1 2011.jpg
TOSMA 2400
USS Constitution-B
The Order of Starfleet Merit and Achievement (TOSMA) is the highest general award and is awarded to members who show great dedication in their behavior and simming abilities.

The Order of Starfleet Merit and Achievement, sometimes abbreviated as “TOSMA,” is the highest honor we can bestow on our ship. It is for the player that shows dedication and skill in their simming, with strong ideas and execution of those ideas. And this year, it’s going to a relatively new player. This player has only been with us for a few months but has immediately shown prowess and direction with their character, with characterization and backstory alike. This year’s winner is none other than Melissa, the writer of T’Ama. Congratulations!
Awards General GenesisAward 2011.jpg
Genesis Award 2401
USS Constitution-B
Awarded to officers who show conspicuous effort in notably improving their simming skills.

After initial struggles with ADHD and balance between writing and the great wide world of ‘shiny’, a few of us are very familiar with, Melissa has been working with her mentor on different ways to not only reach full time, but go way beyond that. She has come to the point where she takes on PNPCs and MSNPCs and even visits other ships as a guest, challenging herself. She graciously took on feedback, tactics and advice, took initiative, asked questions and grew since she has joined us. She has had great ideas IC and OOC and really been a positive role model for the younger simmers. She is a breath of fresh - and slightly chaotic - air that we all have come to appreciate and enjoy. It’s been amazing to see her take everything on board, improve her simming and her OOC focus and become an important and strong pillar of the ship. So it’s my joy to present the Genesis award to Melissa, the player behind T’Ama. Congratulations!
Awards General SilverPalm 2011.jpg
Silver Palm 2401
USS Constitution-B
Awarded to individuals who are renowned to offer that spark to a plot when it is lagging, or to consistently bring fun or a touch of humour to the sim, while keeping such sims current and realistic. They constantly raise their crew's morale in a variety of methods, including Out of Character.

The winner of this award has shown that kind of humor and spark not only in character but also in Discord. They always find a way to bring a smile to people’s faces or make them laugh out loud. While their character is a bit of a trouble maker, the moments of levity thrown into even serious missions lighten up the mood without distracting from the plot. One example mentioned in the nominations was when she was mistaken for the Captain by the illustrious Sir Bolen, another is the antics of our favorite Crunchy Mom Evangeline Dodson. I couldn’t say it any better than this nomination. “T'Ama has been a spark that a ship needs when it comes to keeping a plot moving. Either as a player or running an MSNPC, she has been instrumental to the creation of a lot of interesting ideas in all our missions that she has participated in!” It is my absolute pleasure to present the Silver Palm to Melissa, the player behind T’Ama! Congratulations.
Awards General Neelix 2011.jpg
Neelix Award 2401
USS Constitution-B
Awarded to officers who go above and beyond the call of duty by displaying additional, Out of Character commitment. This includes assisting fellow officers in need of simming assistance, facilitating Out of Character discussions with the crew, maintaining wiki articles, and more.

The person that stood out this year has been a thorn in my side…er…I mean, a wonderful person to mentor and talk to and it made me very happy that she not only was nominated for the award, but won it and I got the honor to award it. Melissa took on the responsibilities of helping out the Constitution staff with updating wiki pages, engaging and communicating with everyone on our discord and even coming up with the Question of the Week that we have! She is responsible for bringing a lot of engagement among our crew and for that I am happy to present to her the Neelix Award! Great job, Melissa!..
