Apollo-A goes to Red Alert, Battlestations after receiving a Distress call from New Talax

Mission Summary

Act I: New Ship, New Crew

After the crew made it to the ship from every corner of the galaxy, Rear Admiral Renos & Stratigo Bokzadeshti did a Change of Command and Renos was now official in command of nir ship. After the Change of Command, the crew got some time to catch up and meet the new people in their departments. Renos held a briefing for all the staff to inform them of there 10-year mission to the Delta Quadrant, while at that meeting nir promoted Ruq'orb to Lieutenant JG and Gave out awards to Daniel Cain and Gogigobo Fairhug both men received Joint Meritorious Award, Daniel Cain got the Purple Heart & Gogigobo Fairhug received the Department Chief ribbon and Captain’s Commendation for there work on Embassy of Duronis II. Following the meeting, Renos gave the shove off order at T-minus 30 minutes. Once they cleared the shipyard they headed off on the great adventure.

After just over two weeks of travel, the ship picked up a distress call from the astroid New Talax, the Allied Talaxians that lived there report they were under attack from the Overseers. The ship immediately went to Red Alert and laid in an intercept course. TBC

Act II: Separation

Arriving at New Talax to find the colony under attack by Hierarchy forces, Rear Admiral Renos took the decision to send the Artemis - the Apollo's escort - to Outpost Unity, under the command of First Officer Lieutenant Commander Gogigobo Fairhug. The decision was reached after a discussion with the crew that led the Admiral to the conclusion that the attack on New Talax was likely part of a larger plan which would include taking control of the Dyson Sphere.

With the Apollo under fire from the Hierarchy Battleship Blackfish - under the command of Fleet Leader Bute - it took some fancy flying by HCO Officers Lieutenant E'riQ and Lieutenant JG Dante Termine onboard the Artemis and the Apollo respectively, as well as some great work from Tactical Officer Lieutenant JG Conrad Adler, to pull off the tricky separation of the ships under battle conditions - something that is usually not advised.

Once separation had been achieved, the Artemis sped away to aid in the defense of Outpost Unity.

Act III: Ceasefire

Upon arrival at Outpost Unity, the crew of the Artemis found Admiral Renos' suspicions to be correct, with the Dyson Sphere under attack but not one, but two Hierarchy ships. After a failed attempt at resolving the situation diplomatically, Lt. Cmdr. Fairhug and those onboard the Artemis were left no choice but to engage both Hierarchy ships in combat, whilst an away team led by Chief Engineer Kael Thomas beamed down to the outpost's surface to lend aid to the injured. Despite outgunning their enemy, the escort ship was still outnumbered, not to mention that the Hierarchy's cloaking technology tipped the battle further in their favour. The Artemis carried on the fight valiantly, until Chief Science Officer Ensign Davine D'fini was able to find a way of tracking the cloaked Hierarchy ships by the radiation they produced when using the cloaking technology. It was still a stab in the dark, but now the Starfleet vessel was able to level the playing field. With this revelation, Class One Overseer Gim suddenly hailed the Artemis and called off his attack, leaving Outpost Unity smouldering and severely damaged.

Meanwhile, at New Talax, with the Apollo all but crippling Fleet Leader Bute's Blackfish, the Hierarchy commander attempted one last suicide run at the Talaxian colony, but at the last moment appeared to have a change of heart. Evidently struggling with the idea of leading his crew into certain death, Fleet Leader Bute willingly surrendered to Admiral Renos and nir crew, eventually having to be beamed aboard the Apollo and rescued from the same crew whose lives he had spared by disobeying a direct order.

With the Hierarchy's attack thwarted and Fleet Leader Bute in Talaxian custody, the job of rebuilding New Talax and Outpost Unity would soon begin.

Player Mission Quotes

In the Klingon's mind a Terran Waltz was directing the three ships as they danced around each other. He saw something similar in an old Terran movie. The ships moved slowly, orbiting around each other. The other two were cloaked, of course, but he was seeing them on sensors thanks to D'fini. They were trying to position themselves behind the Artemis. E'riQ was keeping them both within weapon arcs, without making it too obvious. Never fully in front, but never clearly in the back, the Artemis turned, twisted, and danced between the two ships. Occasionally, one of them decloaked and tried a couple of shots, and the Artemis returned them.

Lieutenant E'riQ

The Rear Admiral had a low tolerance for fools on a short day and wondered if it had already escaped this man that their actions were illegal. The Hierarchy had no claim over this region, or anything in it including New Talax, Outpost Unity and the Dyson Sphere. The J’naii considered their enemies tactics cowardly - less because of the use of cloaking, which ne considered a mere tool to give one a tactical advantage. If Starfleet authorised the use of cloaking technology, ne would have no problem in using it to nir advantage. It wasn’t even the act of waiting for the opportune moment and striking while the enemy was weak. Ne would do that too. It was the innocents. The civilians on New Talax posed no threat whatsoever and had done nothing to provoke such actions. That was what made them cowards.
