Early life
Holly was born on June 13th, 2377, in Abano Terme, a small city located in Italy, Earth, from Liam Berry, a writer and former journalist, and Katherine Flannery, a gardener. She spent most of her early life in the countryside surrounding the city, learning the local languages, as well as English from her parents, who are of Irish origin. She often took hikes on the Euganean Hills, spending days collecting mushrooms with his older brother Carter, and his younger sister Lily. At school, Holly found herself particularly skilled at confronting her peers and resolving arguments, therefore her father made her study rhetoric, helping her with his knowledge.
Holly admired his brother Carter a lot, considering him a second father figure, and as he left home to join the Starfleet Marine Corps, Holly decided to follow his steps and join Starfleet, and started studying Psychology, preparing herself for her days at the Academy in Los Angeles.
Starfleet Academy
When she turned 19, Holly enrolled at the Academy, wanting to become a Counseling major to utilize her words to help other officer. Due to the past few years spent studying Psychology, she was able to pass through the theoretical exams with relative ease, though she had some trouble when attempting to pass the pratical exams, especially those related to Engineering and self-defense. She was not too hard-working, as she did not enjoy the pressure from the exams, but that did not stop her from graduating with pretty good grades. She took Andorian and Orion courses, as well as a few Sheliak lessons, though she gave up on the latter after deeming it too complex for her understanding.
During the days spent in San Francisco, she bonded with fellow students, and often participated in pranking other cadets and training officers. However, she had to tone down her troublemaker attitude when sometime before graduation, she slipped on a staircase and shattered the bones of her legs, causing her to skip the ceremony.
USS Arrow
Upon arriving at the USS Arrow as an Ensign, Holly immediately felt some pressure, as she had been sent as a replacement for the previous counselor, R'Ariel, who was beloved by the members of the crew. After slowly integrating with the crew, and understanding that even if she had big shoes to fill, she should keep making the most out of her abilities, she embarked on her first mission, in an abandoned space station. After going through the time travelling madness and returning to the ship, she found herself a bit loaded with counseling session requests by the crew.
