PERSONAL INFORMATION

Manner

  • Mannerisms: - Sometimes closes his eyes when recalling information and accessing his "mind palace". Has an eidetic memory and rarely forgets anything he's seen or experienced.
  • Temperament: - Very focused when it comes to his work. Being a practitioner of various mental and meditative techniques he tends to block out or mentally section away emotions when in the "moment" so as not to lose focus.
  • Habits: - Has a tendency to rest by entering a meditative sleep rather than a conventional one. Enjoys listening to music of the classical genre, particularly old Earth composers.
  • Religion/Spiritual Devotion: - Marcus believes that higher forms of life exist but having a fairly scientific mind has meant that belief in an all knowing creator does not come easily.

Hobbies and Pastimes

Marcus enjoys reading, finding some degree of escapism in old Earth crime novels, particularly stories of great detectives such as Sherlock Holmes. In his spare time he sometimes acts these out in the Holodeck.

Though not being particularly interested in sporting endeavours, he does regularly exercise and keeps himself in shape. He has always shown an interest in a number of martial arts and is a skillful violinist.

Dislikes

Quarters

Marcus's quarters are functional, he keeps things given to him by people he cares about but rarely displays them. He does not allow his room to become untidy or cluttered with items to the degree that even during his college days it was possible to walk around his quarters in complete darkness without a worry of tripping over a stray belonging or item of clothing.

Ambitions and Goals

Marcus hasn't entirely decided on a long term career goal at the moment. Family tradition pushed him in the direction of medicine but to be honest Marcus enjoys being able to help people and would have become a medical officer despite the expectation. Serving as a chief medical officer, finding a cure to a rare disease, saving peoples lives - these would all be things on his list of things to do.

Marcus doesn't strive to be an hero but subconsciously wants to be one, not for the glory but to know hes made a difference.

Family

  • Spouse:

None.

  • Mother:

Dr Melissa Drake.

A medical Doctor who lectures at the Starfleet Academy on Earth, Marcus always got on well with his mother and takes the time to visit her when the opportunity arises or communicates with her via starfleet channels when it doesnt. Melissa is one of the foremost Doctors in the federation in the field of Genetics.

  • Father:

Dr Liam Drake.

Liam started out his career practicing general medicine on board a starship as a member of the crew. As time passed he found space travel to be monotonous so changed career and became a researcher, conducting medical research into the curing of diseases. Because of his work he spends most of his time away from home and his family. Marcus always loved his father but was slightly resentful of the fact they never got to spend time together.

  • Siblings:

Dr Rachel Drake (Twin Sister, 26) Robert Drake (Brother, 21)

  • Family history:

The Drake family has had a long history of members of the family serving in various medical establishments as healers, researchers and other medical fields. The tradition of the eldest child becoming a medical Doctor dating back to before the third world war.

As such, for Marcus and his sister Rachel, joining starfleet was almost a foregone conclusion. Marcus had an happy childhood, having no better friend than his own sister and twin, when his brother Robert later came along the 2 developed something of a rivalry with Rachel having to sometimes step in to mediate disputes between the 2. The rivalry remained friendly and despite a few disagreements they remain so and keep in touch to this day. Out of the 3 children Marcus and Rachel became Doctors of Medicine whilst Robert, who also joined starfleet, currently serves as a security officer on board an exploration vessel.

PROFESSIONAL INFORMATION

Education

Upon entering medical college on Earth, Marcus excelled in his academic fields and having shown little interest in pursuing membership of a sporting team, performed adequately in the physical aspects of the curriculum. As part of maintaining his health he regularly exercises and has often shown an interest in martial arts, particularly Tai Chi, for which he found the mental and physical discipline useful. During higher education Marcus excelled in his studies, ultimately qualifying with honours from medical school 2 years early and immediately he applied to starfleet academy specializing in xenobiology, genetics and the treatment of exotic diseases. Marcus is a skilled surgeon and maintains an excellent knowledge of general medicine in order to facilitate his role on board a starship.

Missions on the U.S.S. Columbia
  • 239109.22- : "Settle For Less"

While the Columbia was transporting 170+ colonists to Pernipia Gamma Four, a planet which Starfleet is eager to colonize, the crew was confronted to the nefarious plans of Robert Carson and his henchman Gerard. Marcus had to conduct autopsies on human and bovine patients as well as battle the outbreak of a virulent and fatal poison that had been used in a murder as well as having infected the colonies food source.

Marcus joined the first away team that transported to the planets surface and assisted in the conducting of a suitability survey. He was awarded the Explorer's ribbon for his part in assisting the foundation of a new colony.
