An infant aboard Deep Space 17, Benna "Ben" sh'Shar is the child of Mikali sh'Shar. When sh'Shar was transferred away from the USS Independence-A after losing an eye, sh'Shar asked Luna to visit and make sure her breeding group were taking care of her.
Benna is an NPC, but also an infant. She generally contributes only cute little gurgles and stuff. She was named after Ben Walker, Luna Walker's father.

Relationship with Mikali
Benna was basically abandoned to the care of the rest of Mikali's breeding-group, with Luna asked to occasionally dropping by to round out the four. Mikali felt, and still feels, unable to care for her, but... time will tell.
Name
Benna (or "Ben") was named after the father of sh'Shar's friend, and was also given sh'Shar's surname, even though naming was supposed to be a communal activity. This was because, essentially, Mikali browbeat the rest of her breeding group. Fortunately, they were so excited by the news that they agreed to her unreasonable demands.
