Personal History

Yaren grew up during the occupation of Bajor, but unlike many his family were spared the labour camps due to the fact that his parents owned and ran a public house, which was seized from them by the occupying Cardassian forces who made the Rai family work in their own business for nothing while the Cardassians gained the profit. During this time the young Yaren found that alcohol loosens tongues and he was soon passing information he heard around the bar to the local resistance group, he had wanted to join but was told he was more valuable where he was collecting snippets of information from drunken soldiers.

When the occupation ended in 2369 the 'prophets rest' was given back to the Rai family who spent the next few years building up the business that had been sucked dry by Cardassian mismanagement. Both Yaren and his younger brother Gerrail helped as best they could but after a few years both received callings to different careers, Gerrail set out to become a vedek while Yaren who was disapointed not to have taken part in any fighting during the occupation enrolled in the Bajoran militia.

• 237906.20 - Graduates and is promoted to Lieutenant 2nd class and is posted to Delta company, 2nd Southern regiment.
