Don't Forget the Edit Summary!

Just enter a short description in the "Summary" box above the "Save Page" button when you're submitting changes to a page. It helps everyone see when specific changes were made to each page :) --Capt Nicholotti/talk page 03:09, 10 October 2012 (UTC)

Hey, no NPC kidnapping!

Just kidding. :P I only regret not including Loupaz in a sim since you've been away from the Mercury... given her a new hobby or something.

Say hi to Dave/Tan for me! –Rich(talk page) aka Lt.Cmdr. Rahman/MCpt. Kadosh 20:20, 2 April 2013 (UTC)

LOAs on Roster Page

Hi there, Deliera! I put the LOAs back on the Avandar roster page because we want that information to be available when it is transcluded into the larger Fleet Roster for easier personnel tracking purposes (since the Fleet Roster now serves in the same capacity as the UPDS for the general membership). By having the LOA info on the main roster page (and thus the Fleet Roster page), members can easily verify their LOA remains current. –Rich(talk page) aka Lt.Cmdr. Rahman/MCpt. Kadosh 16:14, 2 December 2013 (CST)

Also, you or someone on your crew can help expand the functionality of this feature by noting when the LOA began for the individual member under "Status". Cheers! –Rich(talk page) aka Lt.Cmdr. Rahman/MCpt. Kadosh 16:37, 2 December 2013 (CST)

Face List

I can't claim all the credit. Someone else on the Garuda crew was keeping an eye on it, and I just updated some more names after they sent an OOC message. I think posting a thread about the Face List is a good idea! –Rich(talk page) aka Lt.Cmdr. Rahman 13:43, 10 January 2014 (CST)

2collars

They really do look good! I saw the one on Sabor and had to have one for myself :) Lt. JG James (talk) 16:58, 10 January 2014 (CST)

Edit this nav

Perhaps an easier way to do the rest of the set would be to just make the blank version of the other side and then load the two graphics side by side. –Rich(talk page) aka Lt.Cmdr. Rahman 17:15, 10 January 2014 (CST)

For instance, I've uploaded the gold version. Here it is with the Ensign pip:

01-Ensign-Gold.jpg00-Blank-Gold-Flip.jpg

You can put it into a table or side bar row and just set the background as black to get the same effect.

Here's Sabor as a commander for instance, by inserting the following table within the sidebar:

style="background:black; height:25px"|
style="background:black; height:25px" align="right"|
Once you make the rest of the blanks I can easily make some templates that people could insert into their sidebar. It'd be as easy to use as Template:Age and Template:USSRich(talk page) aka Lt.Cmdr. Rahman 22:37, 10 January 2014 (CST)
Yeah, I'm expanding the documentation right now, including a handy table of the pips... although it's frustrating that someone mislabeled the crewman pips and didn't name the marine rank pips in the same fashion, so until they get converted, we can't use them for now. Or unless I make another template, but... –Rich(talk page) aka Lt.Cmdr. Rahman 00:09, 11 January 2014 (CST)
No, they're in the wrong file format. They are currently png's and need to be jpg's like the others. If we do convert them, we should make sure they follow the similar naming scheme and that the current mislabeled crewmen pips are also renamed.–Rich(talk page) aka Lt.Cmdr. Rahman 00:13, 11 January 2014 (CST)
By all means. –Rich(talk page) aka Lt.Cmdr. Rahman 00:19, 11 January 2014 (CST)
Actually, use the same file names as these, just with jpg instead of png.–Rich(talk page) aka Lt.Cmdr. Rahman 00:27, 11 January 2014 (CST)
Before you convert any others, when you move the page or upload a new version, can you make sure to upload it to the new name format. Otherwise, we'll have to go back and fix all the double redirects. –Rich(talk page) aka Lt.Cmdr. Rahman 00:50, 11 January 2014 (CST)
Sorry if I was unclear. I had meant use the same file name convention as the ones in that table. So:
  • M11-FldMrshl-Green.jpg
  • M10-Genl-Green.jpg
  • M09-LtGen-Green.jpg
  • M08-MjrGen-Green.jpg
  • M07-BrigGen-Green.jpg
  • M07-Brig-Green.jpg
  • M06-Col-Green.jpg
  • M05-LtCol-Green.jpg
  • M04-Mjr-Green.jpg
  • M03-Cpt-Green.jpg
  • M02-1Lt-Green.jpg
  • M01-2Lt-Green.jpg
  • MW4-CWO1-Green.jpg
  • MW3-CWO2-Green.jpg
  • MW2-CWO3-Green.jpg
  • MW1-WO-Green.jpg
  • ME9-SgtMjr-Green.jpg
  • ME8-MstrSgt-Green.jpg
  • ME7-GSgt-Green.jpg
  • ME6-SSgt-Green.jpg
  • ME5-Sgt-Green.jpg
  • ME4-Cpl-Green.jpg
  • ME3-LCpl-Green.jpg
  • ME2-Pvt1st-Green.jpg
  • ME1-Pvt-Green.jpg

Don't bother with the Marine pip

Meh, you really don't need to convert them all and rename them if it's too much trouble. The whole idea of the template was to reduce your workload after all! :D If a marine really wants to do the 2 collar thing, they can just do it the long way as I originally posted above. That is:

style="background:black; height:25px"|
style="background:black; height:25px" align="right"|

Which would give:

G2-e8.png 00-Blank-Green-Flip.jpg

It might just be worth it to fix the crewman pips though. –Rich(talk page) aka Lt.Cmdr. Rahman 01:13, 11 January 2014 (CST)

Yay! Okay, I'm off to bed... take a look at the template documentation now: Template:2collar See if it makes sense and feel free to add whatever notes you want. –Rich(talk page) aka Lt.Cmdr. Rahman 01:36, 11 January 2014 (CST)

Personnel Page Template

These templates are amazing, and yes: they are very awesome. Thank you again. Chythar Daniel Skyfire (talk) 00:43, 22 January 2014 (CST)

FL Updates

I think there's a way we could make it so you'd only have to update the main roster, including adding avatar information, and then have it so it only shows up on the face list and not the ship roster page or fleet roster. Just gotta figure out the code. :P –Rich(talk page) aka Lt.Cmdr. Rahman 03:19, 6 March 2014 (CST)

Recent Changes Stalking

I don't do it on purpose, but I do it. A lot of the time, I forget to add the summary if it is one of my pages. If it's someone else's, I try to add one before I touch the code. Chythar Daniel Skyfire (talk) 22:16, 26 March 2014 (CDT)

The magic of CSS and wiki

Don't ever say I don't like making you happy. :)

It's a new template: Template:Flag2collar

Rich(talk page) aka Lt.Cmdr. Rahman 00:21, 15 April 2014 (CDT)

And if you're curious how it's done, it uses the transform CSS property as documented here:

style="background:black; height:25px"|{{Pips|{}|Red|Slanted}}
style="background:black; height:25px; transform:scaleX(-1);-webkit-transform:scaleX(-1);"|{{Pips|{}|Red|Slanted}}

Courses

Yeah, I'd say it'd go under programming. You should jump in and give a shot at adding it! :D

As for counselors, yeah... Maybe they should take something like

  • ADMIN200: Starfleet Starships
    • Discusses the logistics of starship personnel administration

How to crop

Cropped with Template:Crop, i.e., :

PC
Chythar Skyfire

Position

Rich(talk page) aka Lt.Cmdr. Rahman ♫ 05:03, 6 June 2014 (CDT)

Step by step how to crop

1. Find your image. Example: File:TristamCore3.jpg.

Normally, if we put in , we get
TristamCore3.jpg
However, what if I want to make a perfect square 150x150 crop of this image? Use Template:Crop.

2. Type Name of File

So, we'd put in TristamCore3.jpg, to get
TristamCore3.jpg

You can further adjust the position of the crop or the zoom as outlined in the instructions for Template:Crop or add a link= to the image.

For instance, if we type in

it gives you

TristamCore3.jpg

which is a cropped image of Tristan 150 px in width x 150 px in height with an adjustment of 10 pixels up and 30 pixels to the left to center his head and 2x zoom of the original cropped image.

Adding a link= to that can make the image link to his profile:

Challenger A Alumni

As you could tell by the recent activity, I was very bored. I took it as a personal challenge, and I intend to continue. Thanks for the names. Stay tuned for further developments on the Challenger-A crew history. Chythar Daniel Skyfire (talk) 02:40, 7 June 2014 (CDT)

Wiki Edits

Hello, I have updated my setting about minor edits.

Scrolly box thing

Hey! I saw your scroll box thingie in your starfleet history, and I was wondering idly...how did you do that? Chythar Daniel Skyfire (talk) 21:06, 1 August 2014 (CDT)

Tried doing this for my PNPC Carter Greyson. Works fine in my sandbox but for some reason when I previewed the changes it threw the entire bottom half out of whack regardless of what I did. Used the code based off what was in Tristam's page, and thought it should work. But it doesn't seem to for me. Am I doing it wrong? Chythar Daniel Skyfire (talk) 22:44, 2 August 2014 (CDT)
I feel like such a derp...thanks for sorting it out for me. Chythar Daniel Skyfire (talk) 23:22, 2 August 2014 (CDT)
D'oh. Now I have another dumb question I should've asked before -- how do you force an edit link to appear next to a name? I noticed you have that feature in your relationships thingie and I haven't figured out how to put it there. Chythar Daniel Skyfire (talk) 23:30, 2 August 2014 (CDT)
That's what I meant, yeah. I think I figured out the problem, though -- I was only viewing it in preview mode which doesn't allow for an edit of a specific heading. Derp 2 of the evening. Chythar Daniel Skyfire (talk) 00:50, 3 August 2014 (CDT)

Bajoran naming conventions

I don't think I quite understand. Varu is my characters last name and the comma is commonly used on this wiki to seperate first and last name. Anora Manar, for example, has the comma on her page too although she's Bajoran. However, If I misunderstood anything and I am indeed mistaken, I'm sorry for inconveniencing you and I'm gonna get right to placing a 'queued for deletion'-notice on the 'Varu,Novin'-page, as I would like to avoid there to be an empty page floating around the wiki.
