Lieutenant Junior Grade Maz Rodan is a Joined Trill serving as a junior Science Officer on the USS Arrow, currently exploring the Alpha Isles.

Enthusiastic and friendly, Maz is newly Joined Fifth Host of the Rodan Symbiont, and eager to see what life with a worm holds. Wise beyond his years, but still fun and playful, he's excited to see the galaxy with Starfleet and exert his new self.

	Personality

Maz Rodan is an enthusiastic and adventurous Trill. He loves exploring the universe and finds excitement in most things. He is bubbly and friendly, yet sometimes often self-reflective. Although he has been Joined for almost a year, he is still coming to terms with the 'new' Maz. He enjoys sports, particularly hockey, basketball and bowling, and has a strong liking for Earth rock and roll. He's a lot laid back than other Trill, and enjoys socializing.

Shona Rodan First Host Joined initially in 2215, Rodan's First Host - Shona - was a Trill Senator known for her grit, temper and no-nonsense grandiose character. Never one to back down from an argument, her filibusters were almost legendary in the Senate. She was married, and had two children. She died of a heart attack at the age of 82 in 2279.

Zhosa Rodan Second Host The Second Host for Rodan was Zhosa, an actress famous on Trill for her dramatic performances. Poetic and lovely, she was adored by her fans and co-stars alike. She was engaged several times before marrying her husband. She had no children, and died in a yachting accident aged 38 in 2317.

Raffi Rodan Third Host The Third Host of Rodan, Raffi was a musician who enjoyed the music and culture of various Alpha and Beta Quadrant races. He picked up Shona's bad temper and penchant for arguments, and met his fate at the end of a dak'tagh in a Klingon dive bar in his late-forties in 2343.

Jareth Rodan Fourth Host Jareth was a noted Starfleet Medical Officer. He served on several starships in his career and saw action in the Borg Invasion of 2373, and The Dominion War. While exploring uncharted space in 2397, Jareth was infected with a deadly and unknown disease, which proved terminally fatal. He requested to return to Trill to die, where he could meet the future Initiate to have the Rodan Symbiont, and pass along some advice. That Initiate was Maz.

	Background

He was born in Mak'ala, the Capital City of Trill and as such tends to be a little more cosmopolitan and open minded than Trill from the country. The eldest son of a university lecturer and a botanist, his father was furious when Maz refused a position at the Trill Science Ministry, instead opting to join Starfleet and see the galaxy instead of remain on Trill. Gifted and bright, Maz graduated to be a science officer. He has an interest in stellar phenomena and interstellar physics theory, and has a side hobby of theoretical research on temporal mechanics. He jokes that once he cracks stable time travel, he'll "tell you about it yesterday".
