Daniel new what to do with his life as young as six. His father inspired him to become a Starfleet officer, but his mother wanted him to become a physician. In high school he achieved top grades, and was classed as a very hard working, consciencous person, who always put others first. He was known for his constant questioning of the teachers and sometimes came out on top. He was in his school's running team, and competed in many events.  Whilst at Buckie High School Daniel made a friend for life, Kris Mann, they have continued to support each other through there choosen career's.  When Daniel broke the news that he had applied for the academy, to Kris, he was devastated and this in turn affect Daniel. They both mutually agreed they would still be there for one another even when they had parted.  They see each other as much as possible but it is difficult given Daniels choosen career.

Daniel went into denial over his fathers death and claimed he would gain revenge for his father. Daniel overcome this denial by the unlikly bonding of a young Klingon boy named Artok they formed a friendship that could never be defeated and both boys stayed in touchever since going there sperate ways.  As a result of this friendship Daniel has become very fluent in Klingonese and enjoys many rituals of the Klingon Empire.


After his leaving of school he took a six month break to visit Qo'noS, and to support his friend Artok upon his joining of the Klingon Defense Force. After this he submitted his papers for the academy and gained entrance.

By the time he was six years old, Daniel already knew what he wanted to do with his life. He was inspired by his father to become a Starfleet officer, even though his mother wanted him to become a physician. In high school he achieved top grades and was thought of as a very hard working, conscientious person, always putting others first. He was known for constantly questioning teachers and sometimes coming out on top. As a member of his school's running team, he competed in many events.  Whilst at Buckie High School Daniel made a friend for life, [[Mann, Kristopher|Kristopher Mann]]; they have continued to support each other through their chosen careers. When Daniel broke the news to [[Mann, Kristopher|Kris]], that he had applied for the academy, he was devastated, and this in turn affected Daniel. After the death of his father Daniel took it upon himself to be the man of the house and was under great stress to perform. He saw what his father did as an act of bravery for his crew and felt as if he had to do the same. After numerous counselling sessions Daniel decided that he had a very respectable father and decided that he had no obligation to live to his fathers standards. As a result of this Daniel has become a stronger psycholocicaly developed person and would make a fine officer some day.  He always put others first and listens to thier problems offering excellent advice this will hold him in good stead for his first command.  A note for the record is that I Lt.Cmdr Terri Farquhar would also like Daniel to become a counselor.

During his time aboard the vessel, Daniel carried out different activities, although these were mainly in his trained post as a Security Officer. He saw his time on the vessel as a learning experience and a chance to see how the real world operates.

Daniel intially found it difficult to adapt to life in Starfleet and was rapidly falling behind in his classes. After a meeting with the Commandant he was ordered to seek council, to see whether this would continue or not. Lt.Cmdr Terri Farquhar requested Daniel to be placed inder her care, to this day it is not clear why. Daniel stayed at a steady pace but was still behind the rest of his classmates. Daniel barely passed his first year.
* After studying his options and weighing them against his ambitions and goals, Daniel decided to remain at the Academy and continue his studies at Command School. He found year one the most boring as it was mainly lectures and seminars, although during that time he learned a lot about how command should work. His background of helping others and his minor in Communications/Operations were greatly beneficial in this part of the course.

Daniel continued to see Lt.Cmdr Farquhar and between them managed to solve his problems.  Daniel worked extra hard to catch up with his class mates and sacrificed many pleasures to do so. After many months of physical training aswell as mental training Daniel sat his exams and passed with good grades. This not only boosted his confidence but what Daniel was about to achieve would boost the instucters and the Commandants confidence in Daniel.
* Year Two saw Daniel flourish as a budding command potential. Simulation after simulation saw Daniel lead the crew and help the crew in times of crisis. Daniel's time on the Invincible had held him in good stead and certainly kept him flowing in enthusiasm till the end of the course.

Daniel decided it was time to end his sessions with Lt.Cmdr Farquhar having sought refugee with his class mates discussing issues.  His classmates now confided in Daniel more than ever, and unbeknown to them, both the Commandant and Lt.Cmdr Farquhar noticed his extreme ability to deal with people and situations. Daniel was approached speratly on numerous occasions asking him to swap course from Security to Counseling, all times he refused. Daniel's confidence had grown so much that he was now questioning instructers and there theory's something he knew they didn't like and sometimes he knew it was futile but he got results with some of his reasoning.

Daniels final year was probably his best after his continued success in class and top marks. He prepared himself mentally for the Kobayashi Maru and Psyhc Test. Daniel aslo proved highly suited to the role of a Security Officer having gained top marks in his Command test. His teacher Lt.Cmdr Sidney Riley was later to become his first Officer. After succesfully completing all three tests Daniel proudly accpeted his graduation and subsequent promotion to Ensign. In attendance of his graduation was Lt.Cmdr Farquhar, who supported Daniel through his Academy Days.

Daniel recieved a promotion after graduating from the Academy. Daniel's first vessel was the Prometheus Class vessel, USS Independence-A, under the command of Rear Admiral Anassasi. Daniel had an intresting first mission that took the Independence on a rescue mission. Facts on this mission are sketchy due to the Starfleet Division of Temporal Anomolies classifying the mission details. How ever something Daniel did on this mission earned him the respect of his crew and Daniel recieved a promotion to Lieutenant Junior Grade on Stardate 238408.07.

Character History

By the time he was six years old, Daniel already knew what he wanted to do with his life. He was inspired by his father to become a Starfleet officer, even though his mother wanted him to become a physician. In high school he achieved top grades and was thought of as a very hard working, conscientious person, always putting others first. He was known for constantly questioning teachers and sometimes coming out on top. As a member of his school's running team, he competed in many events. Whilst at Buckie High School Daniel made a friend for life, Kristopher Mann; they have continued to support each other through their chosen careers. When Daniel broke the news to Kris, that he had applied for the academy, he was devastated, and this in turn affected Daniel. They both mutually agreed they would still be there for one another even when they had parted. They see each other as much as possible, but it is difficult given Daniel's chosen career.

Daniel went into denial over his father's death and vowed to avenge the loss. He overcame his denial through an unlikely bonding with a young Klingon boy, Artok. They formed a friendship that could never be defeated, and both boys stayed in touch despite going their separate ways. As a result of this friendship, Daniel has become very fluent in Klingonese and enjoys many Klingon rituals.

After leaving school, he took a six month break to visit Qo'noS and support his friend Artok, as he joined the Klingon Defense Force. After this, he submitted his papers for the Academy and gained entrance.


Strengths/Talents

  • He is a good listener and was asked by the Commandant of the Academy to consider a Counseling position.
  • Daniel's communications skills are widely known among his classmates and are very reliable in many diverse situations.
  • He is a natural leader and always puts others before himself.

Limitations/Weaknesses

  • Daniel's most noticeable weakness is his 'addiction' to coffee; nothing makes Daniel happier when working hard than to enjoy a good coffee. His particular favorite is Columbian.

Likes

  • He is well known for relaxing in the Holodeck, enjoying Medieval Time programs. This passion comes from his love of fencing.
  • Daniel enjoys a morning run in the English countryside, either the holodeck or the real thing, before starting his lessons.

Dislikes

  • Daniel harbors an extreme dislike of cheese as a result of an incident in his youth.
  • He dislikes the idea of football, because of its association with hooligans who incite violence.

Hobbies/Interests

  • He enjoys competing in both swimming and running races with fellow colleagues.
  • He also enjoys Irish stepdancing, and is an avid performer.
  • He is skilled at fencing and archery and takes pleasure in these activities.

Ambitions

  • To become an excellent Tactician and Security officer.
  • To become a respected Admiral and hopefully head the Security Council.
  • To become a Klingon Specialist

Cadet Cruise

  • Daniel's cadet cruise was served aboard the Nebula class vessel USS Invincible, under the command of Captain Kelly Ching. During his time aboard the vessel, Daniel carried out different activities, although these were mainly in his trained post as a Security Officer. He saw his time on the vessel as a learning experience and a chance to see how the real world operates.
Stardate 238302.08: Daniel served with a remarkable enthusiasm for his job, something I admire in a person. Many officers spoke to me about to Cadet Woods' remarkable ability to perform what was asked of him. During his time aboard the Invincible, Daniel took part in battle drills, intruder alert simulations, Brig and Armory operations and, notably, the day to day Security of the ship. It has been a pleasure having him serve his cruise aboard the Invincible and I wish him well for the future. - Lt. Vicki Brown

Command School - Year One

  • After studying his options and weighing them against his ambitions and goals, Daniel decided to remain at the Academy and continue his studies at Command School. He found year one the most boring as it was mainly lectures and seminars, although during that time he learned a lot about how command should work. His background of helping others and his minor in Communications/Operations were greatly beneficial in this part of the course.

Command School - Year Two

  • Year Two saw Daniel flourish as a budding command potential. Simulation after simulation saw Daniel lead the crew and help the crew in times of crisis. Daniel's time on the Invincible had held him in good stead and certainly kept him flowing in enthusiasm till the end of the course.
Stardate 238309.05: I have seen many young Ensign's pass through my doors over the years, a lot of them still arrogant and cocky. However there's always the exceptional minority that are born to lead others through bad times and others, I truly believe great things could become of this young man, if he sticks at it and produces only the best, much in the same way he has given me these past two years. I hope one day to here of this young mans success and place with the rest. Such as Kirk, Picard and Janeway. This young man has an extraordinary ability to lead and his manner and work ethic is certainly one to be proud of and admired.
