Anjar Thoran

Lieutenant Commander Anjar Elian Thoran is the 39-year-old Security/Tactical Chief of the USS Astraeus.

He previously served as an engineer aboard the starships Artemis, Victory, Gorkon, and Za. He was a Propulsion Systems Officer aboard the Veritas for several months before being promoted to Acting Chief Engineer. He served in this role before being reassigned to Utopia Planetia as a Propulsions Systems Officer for a couple of months to help with the development of the new Warp XV engine. After this, he elected to transfer back to the Astraeus where he served as a Propulsions Systems Officer until his return to Utopia Planetia after the Astraeus's senior staff, were separated amongst other ships. Again, he spent a couple of months there before being transferred to the Veritas to serve as a Propulsions Systems Officer. On stardate 239712.20, he requested a transfer to the Chin'toka where he served as a Propulsions Systems Officer before his eventual transfer to the reactivated Astraeus, switching to a Security Officer role. After a couple of years in this role, he was promoted to Chief of Security/Tactical aboard the Astraeus where he continues to serve.

Anjar was born in the Hedaya Province on Betazed on Stardate 236208.21 to parents Elian and Oriana Thoran. From a young age, Anjar enjoyed going on adventures with his older half-brother Zennor and his younger sister Elora. They spent many days exploring the wilderness of their homeworld. Together with their friends, they would swim at local ponds in the summers and trek through the trees in the fall. When he reached his teenage years, Anjar discovered that he enjoyed building things. He would often perform repairs for his neighbors and others of the community. At age 22, he met the woman who would become his wife, Alia. He took on an apprenticeship to save for her dowry. They were married in a traditional Antosian ceremony and he was overjoyed when he found out he and his wife would welcome a baby into the world. However, Alia had a difficult pregnancy and died in childbirth. The baby, a little girl named Liara, survived and became the center of his world. Shortly after his wife's death, Anjar sought escape from the memories and moved to Earth to attend Starfleet Academy as an Engineering major. His sister, Elora, followed and cared for his daughter when he was in class. He graduated four years later and received his first assignment.

Anjar has great forceful will and is both unhesitating and passionate. He is resourceful and honorable and appreciates winning at everything in life but while he enjoys attention he doesn't openly seek it out. He likes to be in control of a situation, yet he knows when to step back and give someone else the hot seat. He's very friendly and amicable with a level head and a sharp wit, making him an ideal diplomat and negotiator.

Strength: He is bright and full of resources and he always seems to seek challenges that can put his abilities to work. He is conscientious and self assured and thrives in the company of the right people. His charitable and kind personality earns him friends easily.

Weakenesses: He is overconfident in his abilities to perform a task, often believing he is the only one capable of doing so. This leads to him offending others when he takes over or critically corrects their mistakes. He is utopian up to the point that he is blinded by his own motives and can be easily agitated if he doesn't get what he wants. He has had to learn to adapt to change, yet he still struggles in dealing with anything outside of routine and his usual lifestyle. He sometimes makes stupid errors in judgement due to his own biases. He is easily angered or irritated and when angry, quickly loses patience.
