- Biology: As a human/vulcan hybrid, Hana appears mostly human from the outside, with the only obvious indication that she is half-vulcan being her pointy ears. Internally, her heart is where you would find it on a human, but her blood is copper-based. Her senses are stronger than a human’s but weaker than a Vulcans. She has human-like temperature tolerances and is notably not a vegetarian. Chocolate does not affect her like it would a full Vulcan.

Family
Parents:
Father: David Wright, a former Starfleet officer and single parent who works on a distant human colony as a farmer. Caring and warm, he encouraged his daughter to follow her dream to see the world and join Starfleet. He met Hana’s mother while working on Starbase 230 but resigned and left for the colony after she left him with their daughter.
Mother: T’pa. A Vulcan woman who, according to Hana’s father, left when she was just a baby because it was illogical for a woman of her talents to be bogged down by a baby. Her father does not like to speak about her and Hana doesn’t care, so the only things she knows about her mother is that her name is T’pa and she didn’t want her, though she can only rely on the word of her father.
Pets:
Teela: Teela is a brown tribble. She is sterilized and longer lived than your standard tribble. She is Hana's emotional support animal (ESA) because the calming effect tribble and their purring have on humanoids helps to soothe her anxiety. Teela has a small sash identifying her as an ESA and, when Hana is not on duty, she is carried around in a sling.
Chronological History
Raised on a small human colony, Hana got her start as an engineer by helping to repair her father’s farm equipment. She got good enough at it that she was the first-person people in the tiny colony went to when things started breaking by the time she was in her teens. Her dad used to call her his “little grease monkey.” She was the only one in the colony with Vulcan heritage but far from the only one with non-human heritage, so this was never something she was particularly worried about or ashamed of. However, this did mean that her upbringing was fundamentally human and lacking in any Vulcan influence at all. She only started learning the language as an elective at Starfleet and has never had any training in telepathy.
She used to play with the other children in the wilderness of the colony planet and therefore has plenty of experience with survival skills.
Although her father was happy to raise her by himself, he often told her of his glory days in Starfleet, how much he missed them, and the joys to be found in exploring the galaxy. It instilled a longing for more than simple colony life in Hana. Inspired by her father’s past and, deep down, hoping that maybe she would find out why her mother didn’t want her, Hana decided to sign up for Starfleet. She majored in Engineering with a specialty in Propulsion Engineering and minored in Helm/Navigation. She made friends relatively easily, often playing a small joke on people she meets in casual settings where she pretends to be the perfectly logical Vulcan before telling a joke and laughing.
Personality
She expresses emotions like most human beings and is generally happy, charming, and fun to be around. However, the lack of training to control her strong Vulcan emotions and the lack of mental bonds has caused her difficulties, primarily anxiety. She tends to doubt herself and has a habit of keeping quiet when she notices something unusual because she worried it is just her mind playing tricks on her. She tends to lack confidence in other areas, but is at home with her machines.
Despite her social personality, she is just as comfortable working by herself in the bowels of a ship for long periods of time. Additionally, she tends to avoid Vulcans when possible because she finds interacting with them awkward and difficult. They expect her to be aware of certain customs and facts that she is ignorant of and look down on her when she doesn’t act the way they expect her too. She believes that her emotional displays make them uncomfortable.
She enjoys games, books, and weaving/other fibre arts. Despite being fully capable of hauling around heavy equipment, she is otherwise not very athletic.

Notes
Her telepathic abilities are undeveloped but show potential if she should choose to train them. As a result, and because of her human upbringing where touch was given freely, she tends to wear gloves to prevent accidental transference of thoughts.
