RELATIONSHIPS

COMMANDING OFFICER | FRIEND

Addison MacKenzie
In the months and years since their admittedly rocky introduction involving a misunderstood Horga'hn on Risa, Talos believes he has mostly managed to earn MacKenzie's respect. Over the course of a half-dozen missions where he always seemed to find himself on MacKenzie's team, Talos has never been left wanting by her leadership skills. Despite the occasional flirtatious line tossed in her direction, Talos sees her as a sort of role model. After a harrowing ordeal escaping captivity together on an old Maquis Raider, Talos might've even dared to call them friends. Whether or not that would survive her transition from his XO to his CO remains to be seen.

2XO | FRIEND

Yogan Yalu
During the Excalibur's mission to Cytarix V, Talos' consciousness was swapped into Yogan's body and vice-versa. The unique combination of Betazoid telepathic receptiveness and Trill physiology resulted in many of the memories shared by the Yalu symbiont being retained by Talos when they were returned to their normal bodies. Shortly after, Talos learned that a complete copy of his memories were left behind and would live on with Yalu. After a lunch spent bonding over what they had experienced and a mutual appreciation of cheeseburgers, Talos looks forward to expanding their friendship despite the strange foundation it was built on.

COLLEAGUE | ROMANTIC INTEREST

Adriana Morgan
Talos met Adri while on leave just before his transfer to the Excalibur. A free-spirited Betazoid like himself, she and Talos found themselves thoroughly entangled shortly after they first met. Mutually interested in one another, the pair kept things casual, until just when it seemed that they might be poised to take whatever they shared to a more official level, Talos was transferred to the Artemis and Adri stayed behind.

PERSONAL HISTORY

Talos was born to Vostro and Leera Dakora on 236401.29. The son of a Betazoid political attaché and an architect, Talos Dakora enjoyed a normal upper-middle-class Betazoid childhood with his younger brother Hanek. From an early age he possessed an intelligent and inquisitive nature; a desire to know not only what and how things happened, but why as well. This became a problem as his Betazoid telepathy developed, as Talos was often scolded for 'listening' in on the thoughts and emotions of others without their permission. Growing up Talos was very close to his mother, owing largely to the fact that Vostro was often off-world on various diplomatic expeditions for long periods of time. In 2373, Vostro and Leera unofficially separated (an uncommon thing in Betazoid culture.). The reasons behind the split were not openly discussed, but shortly after, when Talos was introduced to his half-Terran sister Adara Bentley who was already a few years old, he was able to put two and two together.

In 2374 Talos' life changed forever. When the Federation forces defending Betazed were defeated and the Dominion descended on the planet, the Betazoid people were left to fend for themselves against an occupying Dominion Army. Fortunately, due to the Federation efforts elsewhere, the Dominion presence on the planet was never more than the minimum required to maintain a hold on the strategically important world. Limited food supplies, as much of their resources were recycled by Dominion forces for war-time use, and other hardships faced by the remaining citizens of Betazed gave birth to a resistance movement. Leera Dakora became involved and, over time her skills as an architect proved useful to the ongoing insurgency. Unfortunately, her participation was discovered by the occupying force and Leera Dakora was tortured and killed by Jem'Hadar enforcers in response. Talos, only 8 years old at the time, and his younger brother Hanek witnessed it all.

This was a pivotal moment for Talos. One that, in many ways, influenced the man that he would become. Eventually, Betazed was liberated and the orphaned Talos and Hanek went to live with their maternal grandmother until the war ended and they could be reunited with their father. Talos never forgot the feeling of utter helplessness as he watched his mother taken from him and vowed to do everything in his power to never feel that way again. As soon as he came of age, Talos enlisted in the Starfleet Marine Corps, hoping that he could do his part to ensure that atrocities like his never happened to anyone else.

PROFESSIONAL HISTORY

After his enlistment in the Starfleet Marine Corps, Talos rose through the ranks at a slow, but steady pace. His innate tactical sense and a strong desire to constantly learn and improve himself separated Talos from the rank-and-file.

Through hard work and determination fueled by his own personal experience, Talos managed to gain a spot in the SFMC's prestigious 1st Reconnaissance Battalion Force Recon Company (FORECON). He served on various ships and bases throughout his 7-years as an enlisted Marine, participating in numerous direct action and reconnaissance missions with FORECON. In 2391, Talos was selected as part of a Starfleet Mustang program and was admitted to Starfleet Academy, where he focused on mainly HUM-INT, direct action tactics, and Counter-Intelligence.

First Deployment:

After graduation, Talos went on to serve on several ships before his seemingly promising career took a turn. In late 2395 Talos went A.W.O.L. from his duty post on the Columbia. His formal deposition explaining his dereliction of duty may be requested from Starfleet Intelligence by his future Commanding Officers but a brief summary is included here. In late 2395, Troyan Bentley (Talos' half-sister Adara Bentley's teenage brother.) went missing after getting mixed up with drug smugglers out of Tilanna V. Talos claims to have left his post in order to locate and return Troyan Bentley to his family. Once Bentley was returned to his family, Talos turned himself in to Starfleet Security and was stripped of his commission and was placed at a disciplinary assignment at the Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards.

Disciplinary Actions:

Talos maintained good behavior and had no recorded issues during his time at the Fleet Yards. After serving 1 year of disciplinary assignment, Talos happened to bump into Colt Daniels, someone he'd worked with in his past assignments. The Veteran Intelligence Officer, believing Talos deserved a second chance, was able to pull some strings and get Talos assigned to administrative duty at Starfleet Intelligence. Talos began the long path to restoring his commission and eventually was able to regain Provisional Ensign status during his time at SFI HQ.

In late 2398, Talos' request for full reinstatement was approved, pending an audit of a Starfleet Academy Final Exam. His rank restored, Talos found it difficult to find assignments on a ship or base, given his history. For reasons unknown to him Fleet Captain Kali Nicholotti was willing to accept his request for transfer and allow him a final chance to prove himself. He was assigned to the USS Resolution as an Intelligence Officer in 239810 where he witnessed the destruction of the ship from an approaching shuttlecraft on his official day as a member of her crew.

Talos and majority of the Resolution's crew, including the senior staff were reassigned to [USS Excalibur-A] after an investigation by Starfleet Command.

Aboard The Excalibur:

Talos adjusted to life aboard the Excalibur quickly and in a matter of weeks found his niche in the ship's Intelligence apparatus. In addition to serving as a general Intelligence Analyst, Talos was also tapped to serve as Fire Team Leader of the Intelligence Department's "Direct Action Group" (D.A.G.).

After several months of reliable performance, Talos was eventually promoted to Lieutenant Junior Grade. A few months later and after proving himself a valuable member of the crew, he was made Acting Chief of Intelligence, a position he held for several months.

Serving as ACIO, he immersed himself in the Excalibur's Intel department, getting to know each of his Officers and how to best utilize their individual strengths.

After several missions and nearly a year after joining the crew, he was promoted to Lieutenant and his status as Chief was made permanent during a joint shore leave celebration with the crew of the USS Arrow.

He remained the Chief Intelligence Officer of the Excalibur until he and the majority of the Senior Staff were transferred to the USS Artemis-A

Transfer to the Artemis:

In early 2400, Talos was one of the Officers selected to Transfer to the USS Artemis-A under Commander Addison MacKenzie, his former XO. Still serving as Chief of Intelligence, the smaller ship and fewer dedicated Intel personnel required an adjustment period, but he intends to make Artemis Intelligence a valuable asset to his ship and the Sector as a whole.
