Ollie's life began at Chelmsford & Essex Hospital on Earth, where his mother left him as a newborn. Paramedic Bergmen discovered him there, cocooned in a warm blanket and seemingly healthy, yet lying abandoned in front of the emergency room door. Initial tests showed that he was abandoned shortly after birth, and based on his genetic profile, his species was identified as Gideon.
Ollie was born and raised on the world of Gideon, a paradise world only comparable to the beauty of the planet Risa, as third of four children of Larda a Mierri Bergmen, the owners of a holiday seaside resort and several hotels on the coast of the southern hemisphere of the planet.

The hospital staff named him Olliever because it was a namesake day name on May 8th, and shortly after his discovery, he was released into the Federation Foster Care system. A year later, as the time required to adopt a child passed, Ollie was adopted into the loving family of Robert and Nicol Poulter, a childless artist couple living between their home in Essex and a southern winter retreat in Eilat.

As Ollie grew up, he received private education from tutors and later attended boarding school. His academic performance was consistently above average, though not exceptional. This wasn't due to a lack of ability; psychological tests revealed Ollie to be quite intelligent. The reason was simpler: Ollie was often bored during his education and never felt the need to excel.

Growing up in a Federation family on a core world and in a position of privilege. Ollie never experienced want or scarcity. He didn't develop the mindset that he needed to achieve academically to secure his future. Instead, he lived contentedly in his own world, and not feeling the need felling the need to strive for top marks or stand out academically.
Growing up in a Federation-minded family on a core world and in a position of privilege. Ollie never experienced want or scarcity. He didn't develop the mindset that he needed to achieve academically to secure his future. Instead, he lived contentedly in his own world, and not feeling the need to strive for top marks or stand out academically. Nor he know what to do with his life. The family expected him to help his siblings, and eventually take over the family business. Although Ollie enjoyed assisting with organizational tasks at the hotel and resort, he never saw himself pursuing a career in hospitality.

After graduating from High School, he embarked on a humanitarian trip to the occupation's devastated Bajor with his classmates in 2369 under the Humanitarians without Borders NGO. There, he found his purpose and fell in love with contractor work and humanitarian crisis management. His profound commitment to providing aid led him to travel to numerous planets over the course of twenty one years, where he wholeheartedly devoted himself to supporting communities in their most trying times. Subsequently, during this time, he distance-studied and successfully attained a bachelor's degree in this field from Kingston University in London.
On the morning of April 5, 2385, everything changed. Like everyone else in the Federation, Olli watched in disbelief as images of Mars engulfed in flames. Feeling a sense of personal responsibility to act, he visited the Starfleet Recruiter that day. Instead of waiting years to become an officer through the Academy, Olli decided to enlist right away.

As Ollie journeyed from one crisis to another, his bond with his family on Earth began to weaken. The time between calls home grew longer, conversation topics became more superficial, and Ollie started to feel increasingly disconnected from the world that was once his beloved home and family. It seemed like there was always a new crisis, another planet in desperate need of help, or something else keeping him from wanting to deal with the calls from home and the difficult topics they brought up - Is he dating anyone? When he return to Earth to visit? How about grandchildern?

The year was 2388, and Ollie found himself deeply involved in the Romulan crisis, working tirelessly to help resolve the humanitarian catastrophes resulting from the destruction of Romulus and the collapse of Romulan Star Empire institutions. It was during this intense and demanding period that he received the heartbreaking news of his mother's passing, which had been delayed by three weeks. The emotional impact hit him like a tidal wave. The Earth he returned to was not the planet he left.

Despite living through the horrors of the Federation-Klingon War and the devastating times of the Dominion War, despite experiencing all the suffering while helping others in their worst moments, he found himself ill-equipped to face the relentless march of time. While he seemed to defy aging, his adoptive parents grew old—and not just them.

Ollie realized that despite being in his thirties, he appeared to others as a barely grown teenager. Those around him—people who were his peers at school and co-workers in an NGO—had aged unrecognizably and embarked on family life. His father, once full of life and cheer, had entered the twilight of his years, struggling to recognize his own son and often forgetting recent occurrences while effortlessly recalling stories from fifty or more years ago.

Ollie dedicated himself to caring for his adoptive father, tending to his every need and eagerly soaking up the wisdom contained in the stories his father shared about life, his late wife and Ollie's adoptive mother, and the profound life lessons and guidance words that his father never shared with him years ago and which still lingered within him. Ollie felt the weight of the passing decades during which he had distanced himself from those who were truly his family and soon realized that he had been given so much growing up under the Poulter roof, but had so little time to make up for the lost time and return that love. As his father eventually joined his mother in peaceful slumber a two years later, Ollie was left to grapple with the task of making amends.

Ollie followed his father's wishes and applied to Starfleet Academy, hoping to forge his own path in the universe. Unfortunately, the outcome did not align with his aspirations. Despite his fervent hopes, Ollie received a rejection letter from the Academy. The decision stemmed from his prior academic performance, which did not meet the required standard, and from his entrance test results falling short of the threshold set by the Academy.

After a few days, the recruiting officer reached out to Ollie and presented him with a different opportunity.

"''Not everyone has to be an officer. In Starfleet, there is a place for everyone.''"

Intrigued by this alternative, Ollie agreed to a meeting at the recruiting center. During their discussion, Ollie found himself drawn to the idea and made the decision to enlist before the day was over.

Ollie enlisted in late 2390, and after completing basic training, he was assigned to Starfleet Operations as a garrison engineer aboard the USS Vancouver. Over the course of the following six years, Ollie embarked on voyages across the entire Alpha Quadrant, visiting numerous planets and engaging in tasks such as constructing new Starfleet installations, providing following humanitarian aid, and assisting planetary forces in their undertakings as part of the Vancouver mission. After being promoted to Petty Officer, he finally fulfilled his dream of being accepted into Starfleet Starbees, a semi-elite unit among Starfleet Operations field engineers that traces its origins back to the ancient times of United Earth and their Seabees. They were known for being the first to respond, the first on the ground, and the first to help. Their motto summed it all up - "''Construimus, Batuimus''".
After completing his basic training in late 2385, Ollie was assigned to Starfleet Operations as a supply chain specialist aboard the USS Vancouver. Over the next five years, he embarked on voyages across the entire Alpha Quadrant aboard the Vancouver in supply chain positions. When he was promoted to the rank of Petty Officer III, Starfleet rotated him for station service through multiple starbases in the advanced operations path. Eventually, he landed back on ship duty onboard the USS Braveheart.

Over the next two years, Ollie was in his prime, wholeheartedly seizing the chance to pursue his long-held aspirations. His field performance propelled him swiftly to the role of team leader while drawing the unit's command spotlight to his person. This newfound attention was not entirely to his liking, especially as he did not know what the reason was.

But that soon changed.

Ollie's long-gone and forgotten aspiration of becoming an officer was unexpectedly rekindled when Commander Darren, the unit's commanding officer, summoned him to his office. There, Commander Darren revealed his intention to nominate Ollie for promotion to officer status through the enlisted-to-officer commissioning program. The only thing standing in the way of Ollie's advancement was his willingness to say "yes".
During his third year aboard the Braveheart, Ollie's forgotten dream of becoming an officer was reignited when the ship's captain nominated him for promotion through the enlisted-to-officer commissioning program. He accepted the nomination and dedicated himself to learning the ropes at Starfleet Academy over the next two years, gaining a deep understanding of what it truly entailed to be an officer. He graduated at the lower end of the first quarter of his class.

And he did. Following two years of his life, Ollie dedicated himself to learning the ropes at Starfleet Academy, gaining a deep understanding of what it truly entailed to be an officer. He graduated at the lower end of the first quarter of his class.

After completing their mission, the Sensor Pod crew sought refuge in the infirmary due to radiation exposure experienced during their stay in the poorly shielded Sensor Pod. This fear was triggered by troubling memories of his service on the USS <i>Vancouver</i> and the rescue mission during the ship's warp core failure. <ref> [https://groups.google.com/g/sb118-artemis/c/jt0FnpeZLGs/m/aqAKDUWFAwAJ Can I ask for a vaccine at my trauma?], Ens Ollie Bergmen, {{USS|Artemis|A}}, 240110.20</ref>

Ollie and the others managed to push deeper into the wreck and nearly reached safety, but they were suddenly ambushed near the escape hatch out of the ship. With the help of a universal translator, they broke the ice and found themselves in contact with the local resistance against an autocratic government. <ref> [https://groups.google.com/g/sb118-artemis/c/ujJiKxIH5A8/m/qe7IY3uhBgAJ New Friends, New Problems - Pt.2], LtCmdr. |Title = MANY FALSE PROPHETS WILL ARISE AND MISLEAD MANY
|Content = The team wakes up in the shrine of the Divine Empress, only to discover that they have become part of a planetary prophecy regarding her return. Their captor, Falia, wants them to serve as spirits-promised to aid her in the religious rebellion against the Riches, the secular rulers of Meirash. <ref> [https://groups.google.com/g/sb118-artemis/c/7wdvHQsjxbU/m/HTf5ip0mAgAJ The Empress' Truth], Falia, Brood Mother of Divine Sect, 240111.19</ref>

When the team expressed their disagreement and tried to explain to Falia that they were not obligated by any 'spirit-promised,' Falia reacted with violence and threats towards those the team had sworn to protect. Ollie attempted to reason with her using the power of philosophy, but Falia was unimpressed and pushed the Artemis team to assist her with the Divine technology. <ref> [https://groups.google.com/g/sb118-artemis/c/jt0FnpeZLGs/m/aqAKDUWFAwAJ Tell me lies, lies, beautiful lies (Part 1)], Ens Ollie Bergmen, {{USS|Artemis|A}}, 240111.27</ref>
The team recognized the familiar Orion technology embedded within it, particularly the data crystal they had set their sights on. With Lieutenant Silveiro’s assistance, Ollie successfully connected their Starfleet technology to the ancient Orion data crystal, allowing them to extract the Divine-Empress journal. This journal revealed to Falia and her people that Divine was not a goddess, as many believed, but rather an Orion who had crash-landed two hundred years ago on Falia's planet and deceived her ancestors into worshiping her as a deity.<ref> [https://groups.google.com/g/sb118-artemis/c/jt0FnpeZLGs/m/aqAKDUWFAwAJ 'Till your treason won't hurt anymore (Part 2)], Ens Ollie Bergmen, {{USS|Artemis|A}}, 240111.27</ref>
After the truth came to light, Falia recognized the mistakes in her beliefs and the course her life had taken. With the support of the Artemis team, she resolved to thwart the uprising against Riches that she had initially planned. Meanwhile, Ollie, after conferring with his superiors, decided to unveil the truth through a towering hologram of "Divine. " The revelation of her deceit sent shockwaves through the audience, who had gathered fervently to confront their leaders in the name of the Divine. With Falia verifying the message's authenticity, the rebellion was nipped in the bud before it could even start. <ref> [https://groups.google.com/g/sb118-artemis/c/jt0FnpeZLGs/m/aqAKDUWFAwAJ I’ve a Tale that Time has lost], Ens Ollie Bergmen, {{USS|Artemis|A}}, 240112.14</ref>
Captain MacKenzie, who witnessed the entire spectacle, was far from impressed by Commander Dakora and his team's actions. Recognizing his position in the chain of command, Ollie decided to leave the explanation to his superiors and silently joined the others in evacuating the planet. <ref>[https://groups.google.com/g/sb118-artemis/c/adZZCAs4J3o/m/ul-XEnk7BAAJ This is the price of being an officer], Ens Ollie Bergmen, {{USS|Artemis|A}}, 240112.20</ref>

Ensign Olliver Kimmi Bergmen is currently serving as Operations Officer aboard the USS Artemis-A.

Appearance

  • Height: 185cm (6' 1”)
  • Hair: Brown
  • Eyes: Brown
  • Build: Athletic / Slender

Personality

Ollie strives to be friendly and helpful to everyone, even if it comes at his own expense.
His performance evaluation from USS Braveheart's boatswain and XO to the Academy within the enlisted-to-officer commissioning program described him as "cheerful" and "easygoing" with "sharp insight into his team members' abilities", while noted his reserved and shy nature in non-work social situations, and suggested further development of his leadership skills due to his tendency to "overthink when making split-second decisions" in high contrast to his commendatory administrative abilities.

Quarters

Jaseb's quarters are located in Compartment 83 of Sector 07 on Deck 3.

Relationships

Background

Early life and education

Ollie was born and raised on the world of Gideon, a paradise world only comparable to the beauty of the planet Risa, as third of four children of Larda a Mierri Bergmen, the owners of a holiday seaside resort and several hotels on the coast of the southern hemisphere of the planet.

Enlistment and career in Starfleet

After completing his basic training in late 2385, Ollie was assigned to Starfleet Operations as a supply chain specialist aboard the USS Vancouver. Over the next five years, he embarked on voyages across the entire Alpha Quadrant aboard the Vancouver in supply chain positions. When he was promoted to the rank of Petty Officer III, Starfleet rotated him for station service through multiple starbases in the advanced operations path. Eventually, he landed back on ship duty onboard the USS Braveheart.

Earth Departure

Ollie boarded the ship just before the Artemis departed Earth to resume its service duties in the Borderlands. Bergmen, a new officer, introduced himself to the captain and first officer immediately upon his arrival onboard. [1] However, he failed to make a proper impression during this introduction due to his insufficient knowledge of the ship, its assignment, and his role within the crew. [2]

As the departure of Artemis approached, Ensign Bergmen dedicated himself to his work and quickly adapted to his new environment. His meeting with the CTO and his new roommate went smoothly, allowing Ollie to begin settling into his role. [3] [4]

Wolf in Sheep's Clothing
SENSOR CALIBRATION AND A LITTLE OF RADIATION

Wolf in Sheep's Clothing (Artemis)

During its ferry flight to the Borderlands, the USS Artemis was contacted by the SB 224 regarding a distress call from the freighter Tritorian. Artemis was diverted to the SAR mission in response. [5] Ensign Bergmen was assigned with lieutenant Gnai and Lt. Commander Salkath to Artemis’ Sensor Pod. [6] They worked to recalibrate the ship's sensors for use in the Celendi Nebula, where the Tritorian was last known to be located. Thanks to Ollie's experience with the Ufimtsev effect, Salkath's technical expertise, and Gnai's scientific knowledge, they successfully cleared the sensor image and located the crash site of the Tritorian on the planet Ura Neteos III. [7] [8]

After completing their mission, the Sensor Pod crew sought refuge in the infirmary due to radiation exposure experienced during their stay in the poorly shielded Sensor Pod. Ollie experienced a panic attack after discovering he had been irradiated. This fear was triggered by troubling memories of his service on the USS Vancouver and the rescue mission during the ship's warp core failure. [9]

HORRORS OF MEIRASH

After his treatment, Ollie was promptly assigned to CMDR Talos Dakora's away team, which included LT Vitor Silveira and LTJG Savel. Their mission was to scout the crash site of the Tritorian and secure the ship’s cargo and wreckage before the local populace could raid it. [10] As they soon discovered, they came too late and ship was already looted. Furthermore, they found themselves trapped by their presence when the local population returned to the wreck and discovered them unprepared for the encounter that Dakora's team had worked hard to avoid under the Prime Directive. [11]

Ollie and the others managed to push deeper into the wreck and nearly reached safety, but they were suddenly ambushed near the escape hatch out of the ship. Trapped, the team attempted to communicate and escape the situation they found themselves in. With the help of a universal translator, they broke the ice and found themselves in contact with the local resistance against an autocratic government. [12] Following the discovery the second team led by CAPT MacKenzie was captured, while the third team under CMDR Adea is still missing and out of reach, Dakora's team decided to join forces with the local rebellion to tackle at least some of the tasks from their away mission. However, their "new friends" turned out to be less than friendly in the end. They betrayed and stunned Lt. Commander Dakora and his team while they were on their way to the rebellion's hideout. [13]

MANY FALSE PROPHETS WILL ARISE AND MISLEAD MANY

The team wakes up in the shrine of the Divine Empress, only to discover that they have become part of a planetary prophecy regarding her return. Their captor, Falia, wants them to serve as spirits-promised to aid her in the religious rebellion against the Riches, the secular rulers of Meirash. [14]

This journal revealed to Falia and her people that Divine was not a goddess, as many believed, but rather an Orion who had crash-landed two hundred years ago on Falia's planet and deceived her ancestors into worshiping her as a deity.[16]

Captain MacKenzie, who witnessed the entire spectacle, was far from impressed by Commander Dakora and his team's actions. Recognizing his position in the chain of command, Ollie decided to leave the explanation to his superiors and silently joined the others in evacuating the planet. [18]
