Tho’Bi’s parents were both Starfleet engineers, having met at the Academy.  They often joked that their relationship was based on a lack of options.

On stardate 238103.19, Tho’Bi was born aboard a Federation Starship.  Though not always assigned to the same ship, his parents decided to keep their son with them.  Tho’Bi would move from vessel to vessel depending on which best suited his parents’ assignments.  The number of children on the various ships varied greatly, but the young Andorian usually found a playmate or two.  He and the other children would chase about the decks with great enthusiasm.  On those long interstellar voyages at warp, particularly when short of playmates his own age, machines became distraction and substitute-playmate in equal measure.
