PERSONAL INFORMATION

Personality

  • Uses a process of elimination when problem solving, coming up with courses of action, or even just explaining abnormal things. Though he doesn't notice that he's doing it, Tristam's head tilts slightly in a different direction when he considers each possibility or course of action.
  • Is quite happy to get his hands dirty and fix something, going so far as to call it therapeutic.
  • Over-confident in his work to the point where he won't believe that he has done something incorrectly, and will constantly shift blame over to someone or something else.
  • Gets rather annoyed when decisions are made for him without his consultation.
  • Tends to be curt when talking to those he doesn't know, quick to get to the point of the conversation. Has difficulty making friends or getting involved with those who have telepathic abilities, normally avoiding them when possible due to feeling somewhat uncomfortable around them.
  • All in all, he is quite dramatic when he wants to be.

Appearance

Image of Tristam in 2390.

Aside from a slight height difference, Tristam is identical to his brother Taywor. To avoid people getting confused between the two, Tristam has continued to dye his hair so that it is a lighter shade of brown since he was 19. After a severe knee injury (from the same accident that caused damage to his telepathic lobe), when Tristam stands for long periods of time, he rests most of his weight onto his right leg out of habit. He will also cross his arms when listening to instructions or important information - which is also presumed to be a habit.

In terms of dress sense, Tristam is very simple - normally wearing a tee-shirt and jeans. He has a favoured pair of maroon canvas shoes for when he is off duty, wearing them with just about anything (he also claims he only owns three pairs of shoes - the canvas, brown dress shoes and his work boots). His hair is what he likes to call "stylishly messy", both on and off duty.

  • Height: 5'8
  • Hair Color: Light brown
  • Length of Hair: Short
  • Eye Color: Black
  • Birthmarks, Scars, Tattoos: None - any previous scars caused by injuries have been removed.
  • Build: Lean
  • Taste in clothing (Off Duty): Simple shirt and jeans
  • Taste in clothing (On Duty): Starfleet uniform. Tends not to wear any variations unless required to.

Hobbies and Pastimes

  • Fixing things
    • Deliberately breaking equipment such as PADDs and communicators in order to fix them whilst stressed. It should be noted that these pieces of equipment are outdated, and are personal items of Tristam's (though he has deliberately broken another officer's tricorder in order to create a crude communications device).
  • Reading
    • Enjoys laying on the couch and reading a good fiction novel - this is normally any sort of fiction, except for Westerns.

Likes

All of the above should be counted.

File:Swuitstick.jpg
Homemade Rodulan swuit stick.
  • His work
    • Being labelled as an Operations Officer meant that the majority of it was paperwork, but Tristam still appreciates working through it and getting it done. And although he complains about the majority of his Engineering workload, he truly does enjoy it.
  • Rodulan swuit sticks
    • A stick with a hard lolly-like substance set around it. When he was much younger, his father made them as treats. In the summer, Gamighan would even freeze them. They were a favourite childhood treat for Tristam - and still are today.
  • Tartare sauce
    • Will quite willingly have tartare sauce with just about any hot meal, if not on its own.

Dislikes

  • Working on warp or propulsion systems
    • Despite being an engineer, Tristam avoids working on propulsion systems at all costs. He has stated several times to cadets that life-sustaining systems are far more important, and that speed was not a necessity . . . unless you were being chased by an angry pack of Klingons, Borg, and so forth.
  • Working on the Bridge
    • More specifically, working on the Bridge as an Engineering Officer. He claims that Engineers have no real purpose on the Bridge unless they're fixing consoles. Thus, he prefers working below decks.
  • People touching his things
    • Got stuck with a roommate at the Academy that thought stealing or hiding his stuff was funny, commonly stealing his favourite maroon canvas shoes and hiding them in the most obscure of places. Since then on, he has always been protective of his stuff, rarely lending anything out to anyone in fear that he'll never get it back.
    • Ensign Voss took the opportunity to try some of Tristam's battered flake and tartare sauce whilst he was busy taking a comcall. Once he realized said food had been touched, he vowed that someone would "pay for this".
  • Spiders
    • Absolutely hates spiders. He is convinced that spiders of any kind have a plan to destroy the universe one way or another. It's not explained why he hates spiders as much as he does.
    • An experience with a very large spider saw Tristam come up with two ways to remove a spider nest from the Garuda - blowing the deck to smithereens, or flushing everything out the airlock.

Quarters

Living room of Tristam's quarters.

Due to his messy nature, it is rare occurence that Tristam's quarters be completely clean. Normally, the only real time this occurs is when he moves into new quarters or he plans to have guests (in which case, everything will be temporarily thrown into his bedroom). There is a three dimensional chess board on his coffee table, but is rarely used to due his inability to find someone to play against.

Tristam's bedroom is normally cluttered with piles of PADDs, and his bed is never usually made. This is the only area of his quarters that actually features images of family and friends - his bedside table features a group photo of Tristam, Taywor and their father Gamighan from 2380 (Gamighan's birthday).

Family

Father

Gamighan Core.

Gamighan Core, Tristam's father is a retired man residing on Rodul. He is an expert in telepathy, specifically of verbal thoughts. Some sixty years ago, he exchanged Basotile with Meredyn Tjaent, and after careful preparation, decided to have a child - though neither expected to have twins. Meredyn unfortunately died due to complications in child birth.

He is nearing the age of 100 (Gamighan's own father being 206 in 2392), and supposedly likes to tease those with lower lifespans with this information. When the boys were in their early twenties, it was supposedly agreed that Tristam inherited his attitude and "deviousness" from Gamighan - Taywor being the more collected and less chaotic twin out of the two of them was supposedly something Meredyn was known for. Gamighan is proud that both his sons have a "high level of intelligence", as both are very prominent in their chosen fields - Tristam being an expert in Components Engineering, and Taywor in Psychology of humanoid species. Gamighan is also extremely confident in the belief that, if she were alive, Meredyn would be proud of her sons.

He was initially distasteful of the fact that Taywor, the youngest of the twins by only a minute, had a son by the time he was 20, labeling him as completely reckless and downright refused to even speak to him directly on several occasions - this attitude changed by the time Gamighan met his grandson Samual, born in 2381. He was also upset when Tristam announced that he was joining Starfleet, and became increasingly concerned about his health and safety when Tristam was finally posted aboard the USS Pioneer. This concern only increased when Tristam had his accident, and Gamighan left their home planet to make his way to the medical facility to stay with his son, of whom had been telepathically impaired and will presumably remain as such for the rest of his life.

After Tristam had been rehabilitated, Gamighan very clearly voiced his displeasure to his son about his remaining in Starfleet - yet at the same time, was proud to know that his son was picking himself up again. But it is because of his concern for Tristam that Gamighan contacts him frequently, to the point where Tristam has sometimes found it annoying, but appreciates it all the same.

Twin brother

Taywor Core, Tristam's twin brother.

Taywor Taniel Core is Tristam's identical twin, younger by a mere minute. As children, the two often pretended to be one another to confuse others. As they got older and Tristam was busying himself with learning how to work with the latest of technologies, Taywor was working himself into a steady relationship. By the time he was nineteen, Taywor and Yanata Venxi were expecting their first son, which caused a rift of sorts between Taywor and his father who claimed that he was far too young - a situation of which Tristam did his best to stay out of. It was thankfully rectified shortly after Samual was born.

After the accident that impaired Tristam's telepathy and following the time spent in the medical facility, Taywor spent a brief month on Deep Space 17 making sure his brother was settled in and well, before finally returning to Rodul. During this time, the brothers attempted to cope with the difficulties coming from Tristam's lack of telepathy, and the ease of reading his thoughts - something previously difficult for Taywor to do. Although it was a struggle at first, the brothers were able to work the problem.

Personal History

Tristam Daniel Core was the first of twins, born on stardate 236111.25, one minute before his brother Taywor. He is of mixed Attraxan and Krzexxi descent, and his family currently reside in the Western Gate of Tikan. His mother, Meredyn Core, died through complications during the boys birth. Over the next eighteen years, Tristam and Taywor would be brought up by their father, Gamighan Core, with the assistance of their community.

Tristam is identical to his brother, and as kids, they'd deliberately pretend to be one another, either to swap classes at school for a day, get out of detention (which normally came with some sort of payment in swuit sticks, if not actual money), and Taywor even pretended to be Tristam on a date with the teen's then-girlfriend so Tristam could complete homework (Yanata would then go on to become Taywor's partner and mother of his child several years later).

He focused most of his energy on his schooling. He rarely used his free time for something other than work. Throughout the majority of his schooling, Tristam continued to live with his father until the day he announced that he was accepted in to Starfleet Academy.

After coming off of his medical leave, Tristam was posted to Deep Space 17. After his promotion and a round of drinks at Molly Malone's, he became good friends with Msafiri Bakari, the station's Chief of Security.

During his time on the station, Tristam was tasked with looking after two cadets (Ukaramesh Blanufic and Vian Nova) on their cadet cruise. He became friends with Blanufic, but became particularly close to Nova when she was assigned to him, despite the continuous clashes the two had. Nova resigned due to "personal conflicts".

Despite an easy-going relationship with his "students", Tristam was quite difficult to work with before beginning a relationship with Juanita Sanchez - an engineer of whom he had butted heads with many times. His relationship with Sanchez ended in early 2391, and coming out of it, Tristam was much more bearable and somewhat back to his normal self.

During his final week on DS17, Tristam was convinced that there was a squeak in the floor of his quarters, causing him to be in an annoyed mood and making it difficult for him when packing to leave. It was only until the last day on the station that he believes it rectified itself.

Shortly after his second mission on the Garuda, Tristam attempted to bring dinner to Rahman after hearing of her rank and clearances being stripped due to her involvement in the Garuda's sabotage. After neglecting to answer the door, Tristam proceeded to break in.

Relationships

Roshanara Rahman

"It’s the future, Rahman! Nothing is ever definite. Every little decision, choice, comment, anything, changes what happens tomorrow, next year and even ten years from now. Sure, maybe you have this . . . thing that’s you, but you can’t believe in a future that you were told by a Kells that wasn’t even real, a future that - even if it was real once - has obviously changed from the moment he told you."
—Tristam to Roshanara.

Tristam met Roshanara in 2387 aboard the USS Pioneer, where she was assigned as a Research and Development engineer. At some point, it is believed that Tristam was recruited into her project involving the slipstream drive. Despite her best efforts, she has been so far unable to persuade Tristam into taking up an interest (or even a more positive outlook) towards the propulsion field of Engineering.

Tristam and Roshanara, 2391.

Not much is really known about their relationship prior to the events of 238708.01 (the explosion in the Pioneer's Main Engineering). Tristam worked closely with her on the slipstream project and the two become good friends. It is also possible, but not confirmed, that Roshanara locked Tristam in his quarters as a joke. Around five years after the accident, the two were reunited aboard the USS Garuda after Roshanara requested he be posted there - something of which Tristam was not entirely thrilled about having just been transferred to the USS Vigilant-A prior to the request going through, and was forced to travel again after only three weeks. He was somewhat bitter towards her because of this, though this attitude fell away in a matter of days as he returned to working for her.

He became more concerned when Roshanara was involved with the sabotage of the Garuda, going so far as to break into her personal and medical records looking for clues as to if she actually assisted willingly. This caused Msafiri Bakari to question Tristam's feelings for Roshanara, suggesting that Tristam "likes" her, prompting the Rodulan to deny it almost immediately. Instead, he used the fact that the last thoughts he'd ever heard from someone else were Roshanara's to explain his attachment to her.

Tristam broke into her quarters (after speaking with Roshanara's doctor) under the belief that she may have been too upset to open the door. After she deliberately scared him, the two got into an argument, spilling out into the corridor as she attempted to escape from him. Finally, she explained to him that she assisted Ross because she was an empathic metamorph, suggesting she had no choice whatsoever but to "willingly" assist him. Despite this, Tristam told her to not once believe she assisted Ross willingly.

The Rodulan met a holographic version of Roshanara whilst aboard the USS Mercury, of whom then proceeded without warning to hold Alora DeVeau hostage. Despite attempts to talk the hologram down, it was ultimately Lieutenant Evan Delano and a holographic version of Mei'konda to temporarily deactivate the hologram and free Alora. Tristam became rattled and almost non-responsive, to the point where the real Rahman had to slap him just to get his attention and any form of coherent words out of him. He had been required to go to a lower level of Engineering and restart containment sequences, but as he was about to initiate the restart, the holographic version of Rahman attacked him. In the end, after an attempt to distract her and conversing with her, Tristam shot the holographic Rahman with a type 2 phaser that had fallen from the deck above. He was able to initiate the restart, and because of that, was part of a small group of people that saved the Mercury from exploding. The real Roshanara found Tristam as a mental mess, and ordered (with the very little authority she had at that time) the Garuda to beam him directly to Sick Bay.

After regaining consciousness, Tristam was unusually high on a medical drug. He was allowed to leave Sick Bay, so long as he had a carer for the short two days he was taking the medication. Roshanara became the unwilling "nurse" when he called her to Sick Bay for a "visit". After pleading with her, she agreed to looking after him. He caused little trouble - the majority of it being his unusual willingness to assist her in packing (as she was staying with him in his quarters due to her own being too small house two people). The two speak about his telepathy (or lack of) the next morning whilst he is still in his medicated state, though he doesn't remember this conversation.

Their friendship took a turn when Lieutenant Sean Naughton proceeded to exploit Roshanara's metamorphic state in an effort to prove her innocence of the Garuda's sabotage. When Tristam reveals that he asked Naughton to do so, she becomes angry, and Tristam confesses that he has always wanted more than just her friendship. After kissing her (proving his point), she leaves the Garuda.

During the time Roshanara was not aboard the Garuda, Tristam was reunited with his ex, Juanita Sanchez, when the Maquis attacked (and sabotaged) DSX. Whilst working to create an EMP, Juanita managed to coax Tristam into talking about Roshanara (though he didn't mention her by name). Juanita encouraged him to go after her, or else he'd regret it. After the situation on DSX had been contained (and after theirs setting off an EMP), Tristam ended up in Bakari's quarters, who then gave Tristam an itinerary for Roshanara's travel, further encouraging him to go after her. Waiting for a chance to leave the Garuda, Tristam found himself unable to repair his own toolkit - they had been severely damaged from the release of the EMP, and the tools Tristam had then been using to repair them were faulty for unknown reasons. After returning that toolkit to the Engineering locker, Tristam found Roshanara's personal kit, with a note to him. Using her kit, he was subsequently able to repair the rest of his tools (except, for some unknown reason, his PADD).

Tristam ended up listening in on a university lector Roshanara was presenting (much to his own distaste). During question time, he asked her why propulsionists believed slipstream to be a higher priority than life support systems publicly, peaking audience interest and Roshanara's annoyance. The two began to banter about the topic, until Roshanara wasn't able to provide a further argument. When the room had cleared of others, she began to voice her anger at his embarrassing her in front of an entire lecture hall, when he interrupted and returned her toolkit. They reconciled after he convinced her to return to the Garuda as a Project Manager for the Starfleet Corps of Engineers, and the two begun a romantic relationship.

Despite Tristam's original wishes, the two were unable to have a "first date" when he developes a Rodulan stomach flu. Coupled with a case of homesickness (which he claims to be a real illness in Rodulan culture), he refuses to join Roshanara in her quarters for dinner in fear of getting her sick. However, instead of cancelling their date, he tells Roshanara to set up a vid-com link on her PADD, and to send him what she'd prepared for dinner via the replicator files, and they have their date.

After a mission to Peppalexa (and a subsequent "two-week holiday" to the past), Tristam and Roshanara set up another date, though he falls asleep on the holodeck and keeps Roshanara waiting. He apologizes to her multiple times, though she brushes it off and they go to the Mess Hall for dinner. It is shown that their relationship has progressed somewhat, and Roshanara is practicing keeping metamorphic state under as much control as possible when in a room filled with people, Tristam acting as something she can fall back on should she require it. She confesses that she is still unsure of herself, afraid that she will lose herself to her ability, and Tristam does his best to console her. Towards the end of the date, it is seen that she is making progress in controlling her ability.

Their relationship becomes somewhat strained when Tristam begins to avoid her due to the decrease in his verbal skills. Rahman removes him from duty due to this medical condition, frustrated and becoming increasingly worried about it. He apologizes (or tries his best to) and proceeds to explain the problem to her, and both promised to work through the problem together. The two later spent time together, though both awakened to find that Tristam's telepathy had (somewhat) returned during Roshanara's mad dash to prepare for the launch of the USS Invicta.

Alora DeVeau

DeVeau: Well, I don't know about all Rodulans, but I do have to agree, he is kind of cute - though not just when he's angry.
Core: Excuse me, I am downright adorable!
—During a conversation with Alora and Voss.

Having met during a mission to Bocasa, Tristam didn't have enough time to get to know Alora before he and Roshanara Rahman thrust her into a certain form of danger. After standing on a landmine, Alora DeVeau was given the unfortunate job of following Tristam's instructions to disarm the bomb. Despite her steady hands and following the Rodulan's instruction to the letter, the mine ignited anyway, setting off a chain reaction to not obliterate the person on top of it, but to cause an explosion far below the ground, and underneath the mud dome they had been assessing moments prior.

Once returning to the ship, Tristam joined Alora and R'raika Voss for lunch. There, he learned more about the two women - why they joined Starfleet and Voss's surprisingly new taste for flake and tartare sauce.

Tristam and Alora were put into a team again with each other during a mission involved the USS Mercury. Towards the end, Alora was once again placed into a dangerous situation when a holographic version of Rahman took her hostage, holding her against her will with a phaser pressed into Alora's skin. Attempts to talk holographic Rahman down failed, and it was only due to the efforts by Lieutenant Delano and a holographic Mei'konda that freed Alora and deactivated (albeit, temporarily) Rahman. Tristam was severely rattled and became almost non-responsive shortly after the situation.

Several days after returning to the ship, a drugged-up Tristam called Alora out of loneliness, boredom, and a "floral smell".

Alleran Tan

Core: I hope you weren't fond of your tricorder.
Tan: It's gear. I don't care. Sacrifice the metal, save the flesh.
—Tristam and Tan.

Despite having interacted with him only few times, Tristam's experience with the Trill soured somewhat when he, Tan, and the rest of their team were left stranded on Bocasa. Confident that Captain Reynolds was responsible for what had happened to them, Tan was quick to tell Tristam otherwise. A few minutes later, Tristam used Tan's tricorder to rig a crude communications device to get back in touch with the Garuda.

Tan was unwittingly transported aboard the Garuda with a mine digging into his thigh. Without hesitation, Tristam immediately beamed the explosive off both Tan and the ship, causing Rahman to become aggressive with the belief that had Tristam left it be, they would have been able to find out where it came from. It is unclear whether Tristam beamed the mine off the ship for Tan's well being, or out of concern for the well being for the entire ship.

PROFESSIONAL INFORMATION

Education

Tristam received general schooling until the age of twelve, where he began to focus his subjects more on technology and engineering. He graduated his secondary college with high achievement in his electronics class. He moved on to study Everyday Technologies at Bromivitch University of Rodul, and received a Master of Engineering. It should be noted that he also studied Healthcare and Biotechnology of the 24th century, though it was not necessarily one of his strong points.

Including a majority of his core classes at Starfleet Academy, Tristam excelled in most of his classes in the Components Engineering course, the exception being Weapons Systems. He also received low grades in Impulse Systems, one of only two propulsion classes he took.

History in Starfleet

See also: Academy Transcript

After graduating Starfleet Academy, Tristam was placed aboard the USS Pioneer as an Engineering Officer. He was promoted a year later to Lieutenant JG, and he began attempting to broaden his Engineering knowledge by learning more about the Pioneer's propulsion systems.

During 2387, Lieutenant Roshanara Rahman was assigned to the Pioneer as a Research and Development Engineer, and the two supposedly became friends.

As a Lieutenant JG, the power to Tristam's quarters were cut as a prank played by an Engineer of whom has not yet confessed - locking him in his quarters. In panic, Tristam (with a PADD and a tricorder) used the computer systems in Engineering to draw as much attention to himself as possible, flashing lights, taking over the ships speakers, and changing the language display of the Engineering consoles to Rodulan. He didn't think to just manually open the door.

Seven months after Rahman was posted, an R&D experiment involving her and Tristam supposedly caused multiple explosions in the Pioneer's Engineering department. Tristam was severely injured, losing his natural telepathic abilities and almost his left leg at the same time. He was placed on a medical leave of absence for 11 months to recover.

In mid-2388, Tristam was taken off leave, and requested a transfer into an Operations department. Despite this, he was stationed aboard Deep Space 17 as an Operations Officer, but claims that the work is almost exactly the same as it would have been if he was assigned as an Engineer. Within his first week aboard the station, Tristam was involved in a 'scuffle' regarding misaligned circuits with a superior officer. The matter was resolved quickly and maturely under the watchful eye of the station's Chief of Security, Lieutenant Msafiri Bakari. Three weeks later, Tristam almost blew out an entire deck of the station whilst working with plasma conduits.

Tristam was promoted to full Lieutenant in 2389. During this period, he was asked to look after and mentor two cadets as he worked around the station; Cadets Vian Nova and Ukaramesh Blanufic (it should be noted, however, that Nova left the Academy during her time with Tristam). Blanufic remains in contact with Tristam, and is currently the Assistant Chief Engineer aboard the USS Evantair.

Whilst serving aboard the station, Tristam became involved in a hostage situation. Using his experience aboard the Pioneer, he alerted the station's Chief of Security to the situation by flashing the lights and taking over the speakers, using his tricorder.

His time aboard DS17 began to draw to a close when Tristam was promoted to Lieutenant Commander in late 2390. After three years of working aboard a station, Tristam was transferred to the USS Vigilant-A as Chief of Operations in 239104, where he was required to take a crash course on the Vigilant's slipstream drive. He was reassigned again after barely three weeks to the USS Garuda as an Engineer at the request of the Garuda's Chief Engineer.

Tristam, along with the Garuda's First Officer, Chief of Intelligence, Commander Tan, ex-Captain Kells and Lieutenant DeVeau, were assigned to assess a mud dome threatening the Eth people of Bocasa. Left stranded for an unknown reason on the planet of Pleethion with a jamming field that was blocking their communications (and any communication signal), Tristam was able to rig a sort of remote control for the Galaxy class ship using his communicator, a PADD and two tricorders. He was able to successfully gain the attention of the unsuspecting Garuda by blasting "I'm a little tea pot" through the speakers around the ship and flashing the lights. Having been used for a third time, Tristam plans on calling it "The Tea Pot maneuver" - Tristam later found a source for part of the field in Commander Tan's tricorder.

Commander Rahman was able to successfully bounce back (and create a working communications link) with Tristam via his crudely made engineering concoction. Unfortunately, seconds beforehand, Tristam set foot onto a mine. Having explained to Rahman that beaming up the rest of the away team may set off the mine he was standing on (and beaming engineers down may end up with the same result), he was told he needed to walk Lieutenant DeVeau through disarming the mine. DeVeau found that the mine could actually make the situation with the mud dome much worse, while Kells believed it may assist with the situation. Despite either of these things, and regardless of DeVeau's steady hands, the mine was set off. It was a rush to beam back to the ship (unfortunately with a mine hooked into Commander Tan's leg, of which Tristam was able to successfully transport away, much to Rahman's distaste).

Tristam seems to have some sense of distrust towards the missing Captain Reynolds, believing that, as she is an Intelligence officer, she may have had the means to sabotage the away teams mission. Three jamming signals had been found in the teams tricorders prior to beaming back aboard the Garuda, of which Kells and Tan found to be Cardassian - confirming the worst, Rahman explained that the crew met Reynolds at a Cardassian facility. On top of this, Reynolds also simply "showed up" to join the shuttle team after a disagreement with Captain Egan Manno, of which gave her access to a shuttle (of which Tristam realized she wouldn't have had, had she stayed aboard the Garuda). She also spent several minutes of "quality time" with Tan, ensuring that if a wrong word was spoken against her, Tan would stick up for her no matter what.

He found a perfectly intact surveillance camera in a Jefferies Tubes junction, of which had access to some of the major security systems, and watched with the Garuda's Chief Security/Tactical Officer as Rahman deactivated the systems. Because of the suspicious behaviour, and because Rahman may have been a vital part of the sabotage aboard the Garuda, Lieutenant T'Leia wished to question her. Unable to trust the new Security officer, Tristam sought out Lieutenant Commander Bakari, and the three questioned Rahman in her office, DeVeau also present. Rahman turned herself in.

On stardate 239107.27, Captain Egan Manno gave Tristam the position of Acting Chief Engineer. He was also awarded the Diplomacy ribbon on stardate 239108.03 with the rest of his crew for their efforts on Pleethion.

Tristam was a part of the two teams sent aboard the presumed rogue vessel USS Mercury. As the Mercury wasn't completely powered, he, DeVeau, Trel'lis, Douglas and Delano made their way to the ships primary computer core in an attempt to correct power flow. Once there, he realized that the ship's power problems were due to its being redirected to a part of the ship of which was no longer attached (the Mercury's sensor module), but was unable to relay this when an explosion occurred near the team's position. There were some serious injuries, including almost all of the team incurring some form of head trauma, and Tristam with a scapula fracture was unable to use his left arm from that point onwards.

The team presumably made their way to the Mercury's Strategic Operations due to a lack of safe areas aboard. Once there, they found that internal sensors were no longer functioning. Tristam blacked out, regaining consciousness with no recollection of how he'd managed to get aboard the Mercury, and was unaware of Lieutenant Delano's name. Finding himself more involved in the situation (Delano having discovered that Leo Handley-Page was not, in fact, alive), he split Delano and DeVeau off from the rest of the group in Strategic Operations with the new goal of shutting down the holographic projections.

A com call from the Garuda explaining the dire situation of the Mercury changed his plans, and the reduced team of three made their way to Main Engineering instead, where they were to meet Rahman and at least two others to reboot the computer system and reapply antimatter containment. They were disrupted by a holographic version of Rahman, taking DeVeau hostage, and Rahman was then thwarted by a holographic version of Mei'konda. Throughout the entire exchange, Tristam was somehow forced into a state of shock, his ability to function as an Engineer compromised. In the remaining minutes, Rahman sent him to a lower deck to manually restart a main sequencer segment. The holographic version of Rahman had unfortunately followed him, physically intervening with his input and causing him more injury. With only a little amount of time left, Tristam resorted to using a phaser as means to distract the hologram and get her away from the console - in doing this, he also ensured the holograms "death". With only seconds left, Tristam was able to restart the sequencer. In pain, shock and mentally worn down, he was finally beamed directly to the Garuda's Sick Bay with the real Roshanara Rahman.

Tristam awoke in Sick Bay on stardate 239109.23.

He was promoted to Chief Engineer on stardate 239109.24.

He was also awarded a Good Conduct Ribbon, a Purple Heart, and a Captain's Commendation on stardate 239110.09 for his efforts on the Mercury.

On stardate 239203.08, Tristam was caught in a time fracture on the Peppalexa homeworld, sending him and Lieutenant Ki Shandres far into Peppalexa's past - meeting Saveron in the same area and time. There, the group spent 15 days in a Peppalexan jungle with no word from the Garuda's crew. They were found by Lt.Commander Mei'konda's away team, and despite the three being separated, the Garuda's crew were able to beam them back to the current timeline.

Tristam was part of a small team of the Garuda's officers to find evidence to prove misconduct against the Va Wreth. When infiltrating a social gathering hosted by the race, the team once again butted heads against Harrison Ross, who they'd believed to have planned to harm those in the gathering. After escaping from a locked maintenance shaft with Hanar Tuk, the team tried to capture Ross to no avail - and, as a consequence, Rahman accidentally beamed an innocent civilian into the Garuda's Brig. The team was split yet again. For a currently unknown reason, Shandres, Mei'konda, DeVeau and himself were kidnapped by another group of Va Wreth and held against their will. An attempt to escape ended with their group being found by Va Wreth allies, and they were escorted to Astrofori 1's medical facility for treatment.

On stardate 239206.20, Tristam was transferred to the USS Invicta.

It's believed Tristam became one of the numerous contacts for the Engineer's Trading Post during his time on Deep Space 17. When repairs after the Vaadwaur occupation of the station were complete, the Operations department had a surplus of spare parts. With permission from command, Tristam and a few other officers of the department traded these parts with other Starfleet or Federation vessels when docked at the station. More often than not, he received several favours or "gifts" for the parts he traded himself and is apparently still owed these favours today.

Though he is not nearly as involved with the community, he still has many contacts within it, and uses these contacts with the Invicta's Bridge briefing table goes mysteriously missing.
