The Sincerest Form

After the recent Syndicate Activity the Conny is sent on patrol through a sector in the Marchlands. It is pretty quiet and nothing weird happens, maybe a freighter had a flat ‘tyre’ or something but generally nothing is weird at all.

When they believe that this is going to be the most boring mission ever - did someone hear about Jalana’s tone with Prendar and is now punishing them? - they receive a distress call. To their surprise the call claims to have been placed by none other than Captain James Tiberius Kirk himself and the Enterprise is in trouble.

Act 1

The Constitution is ordered to a remote sector of the Marchlands in order to perform routine patrols. While there, they receive an odd distress call - one from a ship that 'definitely' shouldn't be there. The USS Enterprise - under the command of James T. Kirk, is in need of assistance. While the senior staff try to figure out how - and why - the Enterprise is there, they still have to attend to the ship in crisis.

=/\= To Any ships who can...::crackle::...This is Captain...::crackle:: Kirk of the...::crackle:: Starship Enterprise. We have suffered failure of...::static::...and require immediately...::static::... =/\=

Act 2 - Phase 1

As the Constitution edges closer to the nebula in which the Enterprise is stranded, the crew agree that they need certain modifications in order to blend in with Kirk's timeframe. They agree on period uniforms, complete with all the technology and gadgetry of the day. While the Ops department use holo-emitters to disguise most of Deck 12 as a starship from the 2260's, the engineers modify a shuttle so it will pass for one from that time frame too. They plan to fly into the nebula to dock with the Enterprise in order to offer assistance.

Initial Tasks

  • OPS provides Uniforms and portable equipment to the departments, they prepare materials to be used for repairs of the ship based on the Kirk Era materials used
  • Medical prepares Medkits
  • Engineering and OPS work together on disguising Deck 12 as an Era-appropriate Ship Deck for possible evacuees, A Holodeck is turned into a Sick bay
  • Counseling works with Mission Specialist on protocols, behavior and things to look out for
  • Science collects info about the Nebula
  • Helm prepares Shuttles to turn them into era appropriate vessels with help of Engineering
  • ALL TEAMS grab new uniforms and old era tools, get familiar with how to use them because they are quite different from what they are used to - Rachel Flores offered to help with that

First Assessment Team

While last preparations on the Constitution are being made a team flies out to the supposed Enterprise for first assessments of the situation and what is needed

  • Jalana Rajel
  • MingXing Shimisi
  • T'Seva
  • Maxwell Tannhauser

The team meet with Kirk, Spock and McCoy to get a first situation report and confirm that the ship indeed appears to be the Enterprise.

Adjustments made to characters

While a few unusual species may be explained with their position in the Marchlands, some crew members make adjustments to not stand out too much

  • Player Characters
    • MingXing Shimisi - Wears a helmet to cover his face, claiming his species need it to breathe - Goes by Shimisi during the mission
    • Atan T'Seva - Covers Bajoran Nose ridges to appear Full Vulcan - Goes by T'Seva
    • Maz Rodan - Covers Trill Spots to appear human
  • PNPCs
    • Anath G'Renn - Covers Klingon Head Ridges to appear Vulcan
    • Ozameen Malyz - Uses blue contact lenses to appear Human

Act 2 - Phase 2

The Constitution Crew is helping out the Enterprise crew amidst some fan-ing. Some of the officers do mention that some things are off.

  • Small items of equipment seem to vanish like Hyposprays, Tricorders, Communicators and the like
  • The standard measurements of mechanisms do not fit despite them being the ones on file for the Constitution Class Ship
  • Some officers act strange
    • Crewmen are way too excited to help
    • Spock needs longer to calculate something than he should, he also mixes up decks
    • McCoy is utterly helpless in Zero-G

The computer is corrupted and does not work properly due to the corruption. Communications are spotty and useless At some point the lights turn off and the whole ship loses gravity. After gravity is restored the ship still struggles with keeping up the energy. Engineering is the first team hearing loud voices outside of Engineering and goes to check.

Act 3

The loud voices turn out to be a group of men dressed like old timey Terran Chicago Gangsters. They turn out to be Iotians who want control of the ship to return to their planet. Several groups like that show up all over the ship, trying to take over. The one or other violent altercation results in injuries and damaged equipment. Through trickery of Engineering by once more disconnecting gravity and using the moment of surprise, the incidents around the ship are brought under control.

Meanwhile on the bridge Jalana, Kirk and co are surprised by the leader of the Iotian group and learns that the crew of the Enterprise has undergone some mind-alteration process to take on the lives of the Starfleet Officers. Through pushing and threatening the original personality of Kirk comes through and this is confirmed. While the reasons are unclear, Jalana convinces the man to sit down together and talk about what happened, and have the leader order his troops to stand down. The Constitution Crew returns to the Conny and tows the Enterprise out of the nebula to Starbase 104.

On Starbase 104 the Iotians are handed over to the Authorities who will deal with the rest. Meanwhile the Constitution diverts to Arentis for shore leave.
