Background
Seva Reeshe was born on Earth to Starfleet Lt. Ashley Moore and Bajoran refugee Seva Raizas. Her parents had met during an aide mission assisting Bajoran refugees fleeing Cardassian occupation, and Ashley had fallen in love with Raizas. Retiring from Starfleet, Ashley married Raizas and they moved to earth together.
Seva Reeshe was raised with Bajoran customs by her father, as well as human ones by her mother; both wanted to give her the opportunity to identify with both sides of her culture. While she grew up aware of the Prophets and other Bajoran customs, without the context of her homeworld, they meant little to her.
Deciding to follow in her mother’s footsteps and join Starfleet, she enrolled in the Academy and ultimately went down the path of sciences. She majored in Anthropology and Xenology, with having a particular interest in studying alien cultures and biology. During her studies, she became exposed to ideas of logic and the scientific method, and over time began to stop believing in the Bajoran prophets -- though she still invokes them from time to time, simply out of cultural habit.
Despite her complicated origins, she made many friends at the academy, and gained a reputation as an erudite overachiever, often staying up for days at a time to study. While some may see this as a strength, it may become a weakness as she is put on deployment; she is often exhausted and on the verge of passing out.
With her graduation coming soon, she hopes to one day be assigned to Bajoran space and see her father’s homeworld with her own eyes, and perhaps finally make that connection with Bajoran culture.
