Maz Rodan is an enthusiastic and adventurous Trill. He loves exploring the universe and finds excitement in most things. He is bubbly and friendly, yet sometimes often self-reflective. Although he has been Joined for almost a year, he is still coming to terms with the 'new' Maz. He enjoys sports, particularly hockey, basketball and bowling, and has a strong liking for Earth rock and roll. He's a lot laid back than other Trill, and enjoys socializing.

The Rodan Symbiont

Shona Rodan First Host Rodan's First Host, Shona was a Trill Senator, known for her grit, temper and grandiose character. Never one to back down from an argument, her filibusters were almost legendary in the Senate. She was married, and had two children. She died of a heart attack in 2324.

Raffi Rodan Second Host The Second Host of Rodan, Raffi was a musician who enjoyed the music and culture of various Alpha and Beta Quadrant races. He picked up Shona's bad temper and penchant for arguments, and met his fate at the end of a dak'tagh in a Klingon dive bar in his late-thirties.

Jareth Rodan Third Host Jareth was a noted Starfleet Medical Officer. He served on several starships in his career and saw action in the Borg Invasion of 2373, and The Dominion War. While exploring uncharted space in 2397, Jareth was infected with a deadly and unknown disease, which proved terminally fatal. He requested to return to Trill to die, where he could meet the future Initiate to have the Rodan Symbiont, and pass along some advice. That Initiate was Maz.

He was born in Mak'ala, the Capital City of Trill and as such tends to be a little more cosmopolitan and open minded than Trill from the country. The eldest son of a university lecturer and a botanist, his father was furious when Maz refused a position at the Trill Science Ministry, instead opting to join Starfleet and see the galaxy instead of remain on Trill. Gifted and bright, Maz graduated to be a science officer. He has an interest in stellar phenomena and interstellar physics theory, and has a side hobby of theoretical research on temporal mechanics. He jokes that once he cracks stable time travel, he'll "tell you about it yesterday".

Starfleet Career

After graduation Maz was posted to the Prometheus class vessel USS Dickens as a junior science officer. While serving there, he was called back to Trill when the previous host of Rodan passed away. The previous Host had returned to Trill with a terminal disease encountered in space, and knowing that his end was near, recommended Maz to be the next Host.

After accepting a promotion to Junior Grade Lieutenant, Maz was transferred with his new position to the USS Arrow, deployed in the Alpha Isle's.
