Personality

Maz Rodan is an enthusiastic and adventurous Trill. He loves exploring the universe and finds excitement in most things. He is bubbly and friendly, yet sometimes often self-reflective. Although he has been Joined for almost a year, he is still coming to terms with the 'new' Maz. He enjoys sports, particularly hockey, basketball and bowling, and has a strong liking for Earth rock and roll. He's a lot laid back than other Trill, and enjoys socializing.

Background

He was born in Mak'ala, the Capital City of Trill and as such tends to be a little more cosmopolitan and open minded than Trill from the country. The eldest son of a university lecturer and a florist, his mother was furious when Maz refused a position at the Trill Science Ministry, instead opting to join Starfleet and see the galaxy instead of remain on Trill. Gifted and bright, Maz graduated to be a science officer. He specializes in stellar phenomena and interstellar theory, and has a side hobby of theoretical research on temporal mechanics. He jokes that once he cracks stable time travel, he'll tell you about it yesterday.

Starfleet Career

After graduation Maz was posted to the Prometheus class vessel USS Dickens as a junior science officer. While serving there, he was called back to Trill when the previous host of Rodan passed away from a terminal illness. The Joining was not a surprise or an emergency, and Maz had completed the lengthy training and preparation process. He was one of the Initiates that got to meet the Symbiont before Joining, and is still trying to figure out his new life.

After accepting a promotion to Junior Grade Lieutenant, Maz was transferred with his new position to the USS Arrow, deployed in the Alpha Isle's.

-Maz Rodan is an El-Aurian who is used to travelling around the galaxy. Displaced and homeless after The Borg attack on his world, he - like most El-Aurians - found themselves among the great diaspora of ''Listeners'' making their way around the galaxy. His history is rich and varied, and he always managed to get by on his charm and wit. He's a fast-talking charmer who gets on the right side of nearly everyone he meets.
-Sometime ago he found himself broke and in need of help. He found Forward Refit Station-1 on the edge of the Alpha Isles and set down for repairs. One misadventure led to another and he found himself stranded there with no ship, no money, and no hope. He managed to sweet-talk his way with a former Administrator to stay on board, operating various schemes to stay afloat. But due to the not-so-savoury clientele the station attracts, he's never made enough money to actually leave.
-He is well known figure on the underground black market, and can procure a lot of things for different people, but always at a price. He classes himself as a 'wheeler-dealer', who likes to help people, but some of his contacts underground are not pleasant people.
