Born in Medieval Wales during the 10th century, Gwenhwyfar is a Lanthanite who spent centuries quietly living among humans. Her parents, Eira and Rhydian, settled in a Northern Welsh village drawn by its unique blend of relative seclusion and rich culture. Publicly, Eira worked as a tapestry weaver for members of the Welsh nobility, whilst Rhydian was a uniquely talented blacksmith - their crafts allowing them to participate at many levels of human society without drawing attention. Surrounded by stories of Welsh legends, Gwenhwyfar developed an enduring love for history and storytelling.

In the following centuries, Gwenhwyfar wandered across Europe, observing cultural renaissances and political upheavals while keeping a low profile. During this time, she would publish several historical essays and books under male pseudonyms. In the late 19th century, she relocated to Canada, seeking new cultural perspectives and distance from the turmoil she sensed growing in Europe. Her instincts proven right, Gwen worked as a mapmaker during World War I and as a translator in World War II, helping the Allied effort. During the war, she met and fell in love with a South African pilot - a connection that unexpectedly led her to settle in South Africa in the late 1940s. There, witnessing firsthand the injustices of apartheid, she quietly supported activists by working as a typist and editor for underground publications, ensuring their voices reached broader audiences.

In the centuries that followed, Gwenhwyfar lived through the tumult of humanity's growing pains, as they achieved globalization and eventually began reaching for the stars. During WWIII, she began reconnecting with other Lanthanites as part of a quiet underground movement focused on preserving historical records... Eventually, following humanity's first contact with the Vulcans, this group would help usher in a new era for the Lanthanites as they became more open about their existence. By the 2400s, Gwenhwyfar has fully embraced her love of chronicling history and joined the Federation News Service as a journalist, bringing a unique perspective shaped by her millennia-long life and firsthand experience of pivotal events.
