Background & Personality
Jackson was born on Earth in Chicago to parents Rachel and Lachlan. Jackson was the couple's second and final child, having also a daughter named Georgia.
Jackson grew up in a structured home where everyone had a role and understood their boundaries. Jackson, as expected of any child, rebelled when opportunity arose. He wasn’t a particularly difficult child, but he liked to push and discover just what was up for negotiation. Jackson was well-loved and considers his family very important and a helpful moral compass for him. Jackson gets home whenever he can but acknowledges that's not as often as his mother would like.
Jackson was an athletic, outdoorsy child who liked to continually try new things, and rarely settling on something to the exclusion of all others. Upon finishing his senior school education, Jackson spent time doing a few different jobs and activities to pass the time. His favourite being working on his grandmother's farm and cooking. His parents, not keen to have Jackson remain, in their words, 'rudderless', encouraged him to enroll into Starfleet just before his 20th Birthday.
While he initially resisted the idea, and had for some time, Starfleet academy sat well with Jackson. Jackson felt comfortable in structure and clear expectations. He knew what Starfleet wanted of him, and he knew what was possible if he complied. The ability to essentially go anywhere appealed to Jackson strongly. Having been largely Earthbound, the idea of endless access to the broader galaxy seemed fun. Engineering was Jackson’s major at the Academy. It was largely its hand on nature that attracted his attention, and also its requirement for teamwork.
Jackson is a gentle person who is generally slow to anger. He will defend himself, but not always. He works hard at everything he does and is sometimes overconfident in his ability. While capable of working on his own well, he thrives in a group setting. Eager to make his mark in Starfleet, Jackson is looking to push the boundaries on what is considered possible.
