Character History

Murkad is a General in the Klingon Defense Force, and commander of the IKS K'prong. A battle-hardened veteran of the Dominion War, he holds onto a superior chip on his shoulder despite his decline in to old age, heavy alcohol use, and general poor health. He holds onto his Klingon pride and honor of years gone by despite this, and demands respect from his crew even if he doesn't always earn it any longer.

He is a difficult individual, seemingly fixated on one thing only: destroying the Sheliak. He was uninterested in signing a non-aggression pact proposed by Captain Shayne in A Scouring of Stars (Arrow), believing it was simply too weak a measure and too difficult to enforce with the motley bunch that were at the negotiating table. Despite his ill manners and non-diplomatic approach, it seemed his perspective carried some prophecy when the USS Arrow was attacked by the Razor's Edge. He was initially unwilling to help the Federation ship, preferring to save his strength for the Sheliak threat. However, when Beriali Dau offered Murkad a possibly devastating weapon in his fight against the Sheliak, he proved his mettle in battle, however last-minute.

There's no telling what Murkad will do if Dau delivers a weaponized version of the toxic radiation to him. He privately attributes the death of his son to the Sheliak's actions, and besides Klingons are not known for considering ethics when it comes to combat. If Dau follows through with his plan to falsify reports to the general, there could be equally significant consequences.
