“Live your dreams, don't dream your life.”

Romyana Casparian

Ensign Romyana Casparian has recently graduated from the Academy and is currently serving as an Engineering officer aboard Starbase 118 Ops.

Appearance

  • Hair: Long straight chestnut colored hair
  • Eye color: Dark brown
  • Height: 1,72 meter
  • Weight: ~70kg
  • Build: Averagely fit human woman
  • Voice: Slightly low and loud but with delicate intonation

On duty, Romyana makes sure she is always dressed properly in her uniform. However, when absorbed in maintenance and repair tasks that demand particular flexibility, the uniform can be a hindrance so she has no issues to adjust it as necessary. The young engineer does not mind to get her hands dirty. Also her opinion is that an engineer who looks as immaculate at the end of the day as when he began, then he hasn't worked hard enough.

Off duty, Romyana likes to experiment with the clothes she wears. She may take influences from other cultures and races and incorporate it in her very own style. On some occasions flamboyant, on other occasions more muted and elegant, but always complimented with eye-catching earrings.

Personality

She looks Human but has a sprinkling of Vulcan genes inherited through her mother's side of the family. Romyana has a lot of patience and always assumes the best of people, but due to her Vulcan heritage people may see a volatile and cold side come to the surface when she is angered or hurt.

It takes Romyana a while to befriend people, so most of her social interactions are simply polite and considerate. However, for those she considers friends or loved ones, she will jump into an antimatter reactor if necessary. On the other hand, once her trust is lost, it is not regained, ever.

Details and thorough preparation are important for Romyana, because this is how she feels she can be ready for anything the universe may throw at her!

Background

On stardate 237408.22 Romyana was born on Earth to a Human father, Lee, and a half human, half Vulcan mother, Corynne. Shortly after, her parents marry and thirteen months later her brother Zeke was born.

When Romyana and her brother were old enough to go to school, their mother returned to active duty and was assigned as Captain of a newly commissioned starship. This meant the siblings were raised primarily by their father, who at that time had a teaching post at the Star Fleet flight range near Saturn. To her father's disappointment Romyana was more interested in studying the craft's mechanics than flying in it, nevertheless she spent some happy hours with her father taking the trainer craft out for a spin. Romyana studied hard and always did what her parents expected of her, but her brother Kyle was quite the opposite and as soon as he finished school he left to study Art with an obscure artists group on Andoria.

At the age of 18 Romyana joined Starfleet and was accepted to the Academy. At the same time her father took a post at Star fleet Head Quarters and moved to San Francisco. Despite the family home being only a few blocks away from the Academy grounds, she stayed within the campus complex and focussed on her studies.

Towards the end of the fourth and final Academy year, Romyana was given the opportunity to go on a work placement; a Cadet Cruise. She joined the Starfleet crew that was sent to a Deep Space station in need of repair and overhaul more than initially estimated, so they welcomed anyone Starfleet could send them with engineering knowledge. That year on the station, "moonlighting as engineering assistant" as she calls it, is where Romyana started to enjoy being part of Starfleet and she grew up from a naive shy girl to an independent joyful woman.

Romyana returned to Earth briefly for the graduation ceremony. Her father, mother and brother were there to congratulate her. It was the first time her mother ever told her she was proud of her daughter, but Romyana was not sure if it was genuine or if Corynne said it because it was the right thing to do.
