Captain Diego Herrera is the Commanding Officer of the USS Vigilant. He dual majored in medicine and counselling at Starbase 118 Academy, and has served in both capacities throughout his Starfleet career, most notably on the USS Eagle, the USS Challenger-A, at the Duronis II Embassy and aboard the USS Thunder. He is known for being cool under fire and for his laid back attitude. As a commanding officer, he believes that developing positive working relationships with his crew is the key to ensuring that everyone is able to perform to their full potential. In his spare time, he is a Parrises Squares enthusiast.

Current Mission

The USS Vigilant has responded to a distress call emanating from a Zalkonian space station and has discovered that all compartments of the station other than the command centre are flooded with a highly concentrated biotoxin. While an away team has beamed over to make contact with the station's only two surviving crew, a working party of officers with medical and scientific training are currently working in the ship's astrometrics lab in order to determine exactly what level of threat is posed by the biotoxin, as well as running an analysis to provide the transporter systems' biofilters with enough information to render it harmless on transport.
