Federation Ship Classes

Though Starfleet is the Federation's primary organization for both scientific exploration and military defense, individual member worlds still employ various ships and vessels for their own business and protection. Starfleet has a limited number of ships and personnel, and can not be restrained by such mundane tasks as cargo transport and the like.
